Many of the compounds found in medicinal mushrooms are classified as Host Defense Potentiators (HDP). The patent states: “The main feature is to enhance the anti-tumor activity and immunopotentiating activity by removing floating or adhering matter. Because removal of the floating and adhering matter brings about enhancement of the anti-tumor activity and immunopotentiating activity of the extract, the step of removing said matter is extremely important.”
