The most important time for the development of the human brain and neural tissues is during pregnancy and during the first 12 months following birth. During the third trimester of pregnancy and the 12 months following birth alone, the brain size grows by over 600%. It is most critical to supplement with Omega 3s and EFAs during this time.
Research indicates that newborns and infants with higher levels of nourishment from Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) found in breast milk have quicker brain growth and development, higher IQs, and more rapid visual development.
The breast milk of many mothers is deficient in EFAs and therefore most infant are not getting sufficient amounts for optimal brain and nervous system development. Supplementing with DriCell Vega Pregnessence insures the infant is getting optimal levels of DHA and AA for brain and nervous system development.
- Provides a vegetarian source of DHA and AA, the Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) which allow optimum brain development
- Dissolves in either formula or expressed breast milk
- Suitable for pre-term and full term infants
- Pre-emulsified for easy digestion and absorption
The benefits of adding EFAs to your infant's diet is tremendous. Read summaries of scientific research HERE. Omega 3 & EFA levels in infants (and fetuses) is directly correlated to: - Intelligence, IQ, comprehension, cognition, vocabulary (at 9 mth to 5 yrs)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AHDH)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Attention, learning, behavior, problem solving
- Visual acuity
- Chronic diseases: diabetes, asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
- Immune Function, disease prevention
- Allergies
- Obesity
- Hostility

The two most important fatty acids in the infant brain are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (AA), which make up a staggering 11% and 8% of the total brain weight respectively. They are responsible for:
Nervous System (eyes & brain) of Developing Fetus
Growing Brain of Infant
Healthy Eyes
DHA is the primary structural fatty acid in the gray matter of the brain and retina of the eye. DHA is an essential nutrient for eye development and for mental and visual function. Humans obtain DHA from their diets, initially through the placenta and from breast milk, but these levels are commonly low in pregnant and breast feeding women. DHA is commonly added to infant formula in Japan and Europe, but unfortunately has still not been added to US infant formulas. In addition, vegetarians eating no fish have very low to no DHA in their body.
Recent research now strongly indicates that a deficiency of DHA and AA in pregnancy and especially following birth, results in low levels of these fatty acids in brain tissue. This in turn can lead to impaired brain development in terms of cognitive functions, memory and intelligent quotient of the child. The effects of deficiency of DHA and AA in the critical periods of pregnancy and in the first few months following birth are largely irreversible.
Vega Pregnessence (Child) has been specifically developed by Pharmax to provide the necessary intake of DHA and AA to all infants from 0 - 12 months of age. This is the first product to do this. Moreover, Pregnessence (Child) is unique in that all of these fatty acids are from vegetable sources.
