Intensive-level Probiotic Formula
The HLC products are powerful probiotics for relief of intestinal health problems. These Human Lactic Commensals (HLC) are human-derived strains including Lactobacillus acidophilus and L. bifidus, and the only product line of their kind in North America. All other probiotics are made from animal or dairy strains and may not adhere as well to the human gastrointestinal tract. These contain no wheat, gluten, dairy, or casein.
HLC Intensive is the highest potency HLC product in a capsule and contains no Fructo-oligosacharides (FOS). Each capsule contains a minimum of 30 billion CFU of L. acidophilus, B. bifidum, B. lactis. Each of the three different strains attach in different areas of the epithelial tissue in the intestinal tract (small and large intestines). This probiotic is a microbial replacement program for the gastrointestinal tract intended for 7 to 14 days depending on the severity of the problem.

Storage: May contain up to 30 billion viable cells if kept refrigerated. Once removed from refrigerator, product will maintain label potency for 3 months at room temperature.
These are the most potent probiotic capsules you'll find anywhere. They are my favorite since when I need to take probiotics, I want the strongest stuff available. No messing around. I used these HLC Intensive caps along with Broad Spectrum Complex by Pharmax to get rid of parasites I got while in Peru. On several occasions, I have offered my house guests HLC Intensive when they have serious indigestion, and within 30-60 mintues they have no more symptoms.

HLC Intensive will crowd out yeast and other undesirable organisms which result from use of antibiotics, weakened immune system, poor diet, oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, or chemotherapy. Also helpful for chronic parasitic and fungal infections such as Candida overgrowth.

Are HLC products shipped with an ice pack?
Not usually. This is because after extensive product testing and new freeze drying technology performed by Phamax, it was concluded that the ice pack did not make a difference during shipping since the product potency was still well over 100% label claims when shipped with ice or no ice. The manufacturer states that it is no longer necessary to ship the HMF products with an ice pack for these reasons:
Pharmax has added in 50% more probiotic than what the label guarantees per bottle. For example, HLC Caps are guaranteed to have 6 billion L. acidophilus per serving, but there are 12 billion present at time of manufacturing and it is kept frozen until shipping.

You will receive your HLC probiotic directly from the manufacturer in about 3-5 days. This product is very fresh and has not been sitting around on our shelves. And, you are guaranteed it will contain 50% more than what the label states.
How do I travel with my HLC probiotics?
We highly recommend you take your probiotics with you on all trips and vacations since their potency will last for up to 6 months at room temperature un-refrigerated. But, when possible and if convenient, we recommend you store your probiotics in the freezer or refrigerator, especially if you plan to preserve freshness of your product for months or years.
HLC Probiotics Shipping & Heat Sensitivity Info (last updated 6/01/08)
We suggest that you select 2nd Day Air or Overnight during the summer months or if you live in a hot state (any month). If not, your probiotics or suppositories may arrive 5-7 days later and may be warm or hot to the touch. We cannot replace or refund warm/hot packages. During the summer (June-Sep), we automatically do not ship out probiotics or other heat sensitive orders placed after 1pm EST on Tuesday will ship the following Monday. We will only ship orders placed on Wednesday or Thursdays if 2nd day or Overnight shipping is requested AND the package can be delivered in the same week. We do not ship heat sensitive orders on Fridays at all, any time of the year. (unless you request otherwise in "Order Comments" and providing that you do not mind that your package will be held in the shippers non-airconditioned warehouse during the weekend). We want to minimize the amount of time your probiotics are in transit. Yet, the manufacturer has increased stability with new freeze drying technology allowing the probiotics to last over 6 months at room temperature holding their GUARANTEED minimum potency on label.
In addition,at 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit it can be stored 3-4 weeks and still be within label claim. This means if the probiotics arrive very warm or hot to the touch due to UPS truck being hot, your product is still perfectly viable and will meet potency claims on label according to various tests done by manufacturer. Please do not be concerned about heat for the short 2-4 day transit. We have been using these probiotics for years after extensive delays in shipping during summer months, and they are still VERY viable and work incredibly well.

If you live near the West coast, your Pharmax probiotics are shipped from Redmond, WA. If not, from Bedford, NH. If you purchased other brands along with Pharmax (such as Yeast Arrest by Vitanica), your order will come from NH.
If you are still concerned about the heat, and if you do not want your package left without a signature, please include a note in the comments instructing us to require a signature, also provide a shipping address where there will be someone available to sign and/or bring your package in from the sun.
Are HLC probiotics shipped with an ice pack? Dry ice or ice pack will be included within the box free of charge during the summer months or when shipping to hot states (gel pack may be hot upon arrival since it absorbs heat- this is normal). Yet, ice is ONLY FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND. Pharmax's extensive product shelf life testing shows that after 2 weeks of travel via UPS cross country and back to the testing facility, the potency was still at 100% of label claims. The manufacturer states that ice during transport isoptional andnot necessary due to their new freeze drying technology and the addition of 50% more probiotic at time of manufacturing than what the label claims. Yet, if temperatures are hot in your area in the summer months, you may want to request an ice pack during checkout for your own peace of mind. If your suppositories or protein bars have melted in transit, please store them in the refrigerator upon opening the package so that the item will firm up. We cannot refund or replace warm/hot packages.

I recently had to take antibiotics for an infection - I''m not a fan of taking them but am taking the probiotics to ensure that it balances things out and maintains the healthy bacteria in my system.

Yes, it is true. I had been sick and getting sicker for several years. My doctors were baffled until a health professional finally ordered some specific tests to uncover possible prepathogenic bacteria in my intestinal tract. By that time my immune, urinary, and reproductive systems were badly affected. I was unable to tolerate most medications and was urged to find a probiotic to take in order to eradicate these toxic bacteria . HLC intensive caps were recommended as a possibility as interstitial cystitis was chronic and totally debilitating by then and some ICers are able to tolerate it. Well, I was able to tolerate the intensive caps...very slowly increasing the number of caps taken daily. It is now two years later and those bacteria have been totally eradicated and I am on my way to regaining my health. Because I was taking so many HLC caps each day and for such a long period of time, I would recommend that anyone who needs to take more than what is recommended on the label for an extended period of time does so under the direction of a health professional. I consult families who have children with autism and ADD. This product continues to provide great results by helping to heal the gut. It is the only product that I know of that is free from all the allergens these children face AND offers a minimum of 30 BILLION viable cells that includes 4 strains. These probiotics are unique in that they are human-derived. This is important to me as I want a probiotic that will work, especially for us ladies. I have not had any issues since taking these and also the HLC Candaclear vaginal suppositories, which is another unique human-derived product for the ladies. I''m really glad these products are available!

I have tried a lot of probiotics over the years, and I seem to feel the best on these. I have many food allergies, and I love how these don't have any added oils in it, which helps so I don't have to rotate these into my diet! The small bottles are very convenient for travel, plus the fact that they will keep at room temperature for over a month!
