La Sante Iron Drops Iron deficiency is the most common known form of nutritional deficiency. Its prevalence is highest among young children and women of childbearing age (particularly pregnant women). In children, iron deficiency causes developmental delays and behavioral disturbances, and in pregnant women, it increases the risk for a preterm delivery and delivering a low-birthweight baby. In the past three decades, increased iron intake among infants has resulted in a decline in childhood iron-deficiency anemia in the United States. For women of childbearing age, iron deficiency has remained prevalent.

Our nutritionist has personally spoke with Levine Health Products, who makes this product which has been around for 30+ years. Many practitioners across the country use this very product for infants, children and adults when liquid iron is needed. Levine Health said that the Propylparaben is less than 0.1% of the whole product, so legally they are not required by law to disclose this ingredient on the label. They said they felt that it was the responsible thing to do to fully disclose all ingredients they use, even if it is minute amounts. Propylparaben prevents really bad organisms (molds & bacteria) from growing in your various water-based things. They said it is the only thing that has been found to be effective in preventing this from happening. We are aware that there is some controversy over this ingredient, but as of now, we are not aware that it has been found to be harmful in amounts permitted to be used in food and supplements (though we really can't speak about it being used in personal care products). Here is a recent 2010 literature review on parabens in personal care products found on PubMed: Suggested Use:
Adults take 1 ml. daily with meals. (Use calibrated dropper included). Warnings:
