MUCILAGENOUS HERBS such as Aloe barbadensis, Ulmus fulva, and Althaea officinalis can coat and soothe inflamed tissues. They can also help restore normal secretions from mucous membranes. Aloe has been used topically both as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent.
XYLITOL interferes with bacteria's ability to adhere to body tissues, in the mouth and nasal passages. Additionally, xylitol has the effect of diminishing bacteria's ability to produce biofilm – thereby making the bacteria more susceptible to natural immune system defenses.
URTICA DIOICA is a useful herb in chronic inflammations, it has an anti histamine and anti-inflammatory action and has been shown to be helpful to in moderating allergic response symptoms associated with allergic response. Topically it is also an astringent to mucous membranes.
BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE solutions are fast-acting biocidal agents with a moderately long duration of action. They have been shown to have action active against bacteria and some viruses, fungi, and protozoa.
SEA SALT, SODIUM CITRATE, AND SODIUM PHOSPHATE: If you suffer from chronic or acute sinus infections, saline rinses can be helpful in removing and thinning out excessive mucus. If you have allergic rhinitis, these rinses can bring relief by actively flushing removing allergens from the nostrils and sinuses.
