RICHBERRY 12000 is a blend of grape, chokeberry, cranberry, blueberry, cherry, apple, and mangosteen. These fruits provide a blend of flavonoids which are members of the polyphenol antioxidant family. Flavonoids are the most important plant pigments and contribute to the rich colors seen in many berries and flowers. Flavonoids have powerful antioxidant properties and may protect against abnormal DNA mutations. Several population-based studies have observed an inverse relationship between increased flavonoid intake and risk of chronic disease.
KONA RED COFFEE CHERRY extract is a unique and exciting source of antioxidants derived from the coffee plants grown on the sunny island of Kona, Hawaii. The coffee cherry or berry surrounds and protects the developing coffee bean and is usually disposed of during harvesting. ASCORBYL PALMITATE is the fat-soluble form of vitamin C. In this form, it is retained longer in the tissues and offers greater antioxidant protection against hydroxyl radicals, superoxide radicals, hydrogen peroxides, and hydroperoxyl radicals.
VITAMIN E (D- ALPHA-TOCOPHERYL SUCCINATE) helps prevent oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in the membranes of our cells. This is even more important in the mitochondrial membranes.
COENZYME Q10, like vitamin E, helps protect the mitochondrial and cellular membranes from oxidative damage. Antioxidants enhance the transport of electrons, and coenzyme Q10 is no exception. This transport of electrons is important for quenching free radicals and in producing our cellular high-energy compound, ATP, through the electron transport chain.
ALPHA R-LIPOIC ACID is an interesting antioxidant because it acts as both a water-soluble and fat-soluble free radical quencher. Lipoic acid is necessary for the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-coenzyme A and acts as a cofactor for the activity of the enzyme alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase. Alpha R-lipoic acid is the natural form of lipoic acid and has been shown to be more biologically available than the synthetic variety.
MAGNESIUM MALATE aids in the utilization of glucose. It does this by assisting in glucose phosphorylation. Malate is a key component of the Krebs citric acid cycle. This organic acid aids in the efficient production of ATP and continuous energy production.
N ACETYL L-CYSTEINE (NAC) is an amino acid precursor to glutathione. Glutathione has numerous antioxidant protective properties. It ranks as one of the strongest and most versatile xenobiotic (environmental toxin) detoxifiers.
SUPER OXIDE DISMUTASE precursors such as zinc, copper, and manganese have been included to assist in quenching the super oxide radical.
ADDITIONAL FREE RADICAL QUENCHERS have been included to contribute to electron recycling.
