Seasonal allergies
Seasonal allergies affect a large portion of the population, and are caused by any number of allergens in our environment, including tree, flower and grass pollens- and can also include molds and dust mites.
Certain products, such as vitamin C, plant flavonoids, and quercetin may help to stabilize the cells in our body which secrete histamine. Histamine is the substance which causes the itchiness in the eyes and the runny nose when exposed to an allergen.
Others, like nettles and butterbur (petasites) are herbs which can help decrease the histamine response as well as provide some anti-inflammatory actions. If your allergies are complicated with sinus problems, please visit this link for more information:
Probiotic blends and herbal combinations such as Aller-7 have documented effects in actually changing how your body recognizes an environmental allergen, making it react less strongly. (Available products for allergies are listed at the bottom of this page.) Nutrients such as vitamins A and D, and minerals such as zinc are also helpful in keeping the respiratory tract healthier and better protected from irritants. Using a saline rinse can also help to decrease the volume of allergens from the respiratory tract.
