This specialty formulation contains the nine most commonly prescribed amino acids and vitamin/minerals for autism. They synergistically act as a GABA agonist; symptoms associated with hyperactivity of the nervous system, including hypersensitivities, delayed speech, anxiety, and insomnia may be corrected by the increased production of GABA, serotonin and melatonin. The amino acid combination of 5-HTP, Theanine, Taurine, and Lysine, in conjunction with P5P, Methylcobalamin, and Magnesium, may help slow down an overactive nervous system.

Research Study Results
Summary of the scientific research on autism shows an over stimulation and hyper-excitability of children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)[1] A holistic view of multiple body systems leads to a new theory to describe the physiology of autism. Spectrum Awakening has been developed to address and correct the imbalanced biochemistry as described in the Theory of Increased Action Potentials. Quickly, the sensory issues decrease, and sleep, sociability, and speech improve.

The body's homeostatic mechanisms are in constant flux, and unfortunately may get locked into continual biochemical feedback loops which produce symptoms. A chronic stress response combined with neurotoxin damage leads to the symptoms of autism. An imbalance of the neuro-adrenal axis combined with subsequent gastrointestinal damage, such as ileo-colonic lymphoid nodular hyperplasia,[2] and suboptimal immune reactions, manifests as the autistic symptoms of decreased sleep, impaired speech and sociability, and increased sensory issues.

Toxic load of heavy metals and other environmental agents of a mother combined with viral and neurotoxic agents during infancy are the causative agents of the autism spectrum disorder (ASD).[39] The body's homeostatic response to these stressors are increases in sympathetic response, in adrenal response, and in excitatory neurotransmitters. Biochemically, an increase in neuronal action potential is created leading to more neuronal transmission, more often, and as any parent of an autistic child can agree with, their child has a huge potential for action.

Environmental toxins increase sympathetic response and decrease parasympathetic response.[10-12] While the neurotoxic substances or viral agents remain in the body, the homeostatic response is a continued sympathetic response, leading to a symptomatic fight or flight, decreasing sleep, impairing learning and desire to socialize.

Another homeostatic response to toxic burden is the increase of excitatory neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, PEA, glutamate, and histamine. One the other side is a marked decrease of inhibitory neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, an GABA.[13-20] Such wide imbalances increase neuronal action potentials and leads to the manifestation of sensory issues such as panic when touched, desire for deep pressure, covering ears, desire to avoid eye contact, and favoring bland and non-textured foods.

To complete the triad, the adrenal system responds to stressors with a chronic over production of cortisol and other stress homeostatic hormones.[21-23] A child suffering a chemical stress reaction will sleep less, speak less, socialize less, have temper issues, and not be interested in learning.

Utilizing this new theory, which reasonably explains the pathophysiology of autistic symptoms, created by the homeostatic response of the nervous system, brain chemistry, and adrenal system, we have a solid place to create treatments. Spectrum Awakening is created to address such body imbalances.
