A. I recommend you not use juice since the sugars will feed yeast in his GI and will lessen the desired results. In addition the acid in the juice will degrade the probiotics over time as it sits around. And, drinking juice over a stretch of time is not good for him for other reasons including dental health and insulin levels. The best way to ensure maximum effectiveness is to give it to him in water or from a spoon, both after a meal. Has he tried it straight from a spoon, as a dessert? It tastes great. My niece is 4 and loves it!
The other method of giving it to him in the sandwich is a good idea, however I would aim to use as little sugary jelly as possible. Probiotics are aiming to fight overgrowth of fungus and other microbes, and sugar including high sugar breads, processed peanut butter, and certainly jelly will feed it, preventing him from recovery. Instead, try using almond or cashew butter, or try apples dipped in natural nut butter- mixed with probiotics.
A couple of other very useful supplements for you and your son are:
A new probiotic named HLC Mindlinx is specific for autism and targets the exorphins from wheat, dairy, veg, meat, etc. On average it has been shown to reduce the exorphin level by 80%, which is the component that affects the brain. The product is called HLC Mindlinx: (take 1 capsule 2-3 times daily with meals)
High DHA Berry Frutol is a very palatable form of fish oils that are very helpful in improving brain health and behavior of those with Autism. DHA (and EPA) makes up brain cells and is robbed from the cells of Autistic children in attempts of reducing inflammation from the GI. High DHA Berry Frutol: (take 1 Tbs daily after a meal)
Or, the Finest Pure Fish Oil Liquid by Pharmax another omega-3 (EPA/DHA) source that is more cost effective and also palatable, but not as delicious is: (take 2 teaspoons daily after a meal)
