Any suggestion for enlarged finger joints due to Heberden's Nodes?
Q. I have a condition of Heberden's Nodes—the joints of the fingers near the nail are enlarged. What do you recommend?

A. There are several things you can do to help. Min Inflamm by Pharmax is a good option as an herbal anti-inflammatory. Or you could try Inflammatone, by Designs for Health, which is a little richer in anti-inflammatory enzymes. You may compare the two products here.

Also, I suggest omega 3 fatty acids, since these are the building blocks for the body's natural anti-inflammatory hormones, which most of us are deficient in. Pharmax Finest Pure Fish Oils are my favorite because of their purity and excellent distillation method. A good dose is 1 TBS daily, assuming you are not taking blood thinners.

Lastly, be careful to avoid sugars and white starches, including from cereal, bread, flavored yogurt and juice. These will exacerbate inflammation by way of increasing your blood sugar. Instead focus on healing foods such as organic proteins, healthy fats, vegetables, nuts, etc.
