Q. Since Policosinol comes from sugar cane wax, is there any sugar content in your Policosinol? I need to avoid sugar in my diet.
A. Policosinol is a saturated alcohol derived from the waxy portion of sugar cane, bees wax, and yams. This specific product comes from sugar cane. Portions of alcohols can convert to sugar in the body. However, we cannot find any literature which states contraindication to this product for patients with sugar sensitive ailments (such as diabetes or candida). Since 1 capsule contains only 20 mg of Policosinol and only a fraction of that could possibly convert to sugar, the amount of potential sugar is minuscule.
