What can I use for a Mercury detox?
Q. I believe I'm suffering from mecury poisoning, what products can I use for a mecury detox?

A. Symptoms of Mercury poisoning are really dreadful. We just added a section to the Genestra site about Heavy Metal Toxicity in our website.

Chelation is more specific than detoxification since it describes the action of a chelating agent (i.e. Cysteine, Cilantro, DMAE) binding onto heavy metals in the body in preparation for excretion. There are a few really good herbal and amino acid chelators out there and the products I have listed on the link above are some of them.

Heavy metal detoxification includes several components.

Part 1: Binding the mercuryPart 2: Eliminating the bound mercury located in the GI and kidneys (where it tends to accumulate)
  • Fiber such as Toxin Absorber packets or Herbal Bulk by Genestra (taken once per daily)
  • Kidney support: HKI Renal drops by Genestra (homeopathic) 10 drops twice daily
Part 3: Binding and Eliminating intracellular mercury GSH Reduced Glutathione by Genestra (3 caps per day between meals)

(note: you can substitute this product for Part 1B if your symptoms are not that severe)

Glutathione is incredibly powerful. I have just referenced another book confirming that it is one of the few substances which can get into the cells and support the body during mercury removal.

Each step is important for effective removal since once the mercury is chelated or bound, it needs to be removed from the cells and the GI, not just merely moved to another place in the body (or symptoms could get worse).

Research I reviewed today also discussed the effectiveness of Cilantro, and aminos for binding mercury, and how critical it is to support the kidneys during chelation so that it can be properly removed.

As for your question on symptoms getting better or worse, it could go either way. You may feel better, or you could feel worse for a little while and then much better. If you're not feeling well now, definitely do some kidney and GI support and drink lots of water along with your Toxin Absorber packets to eliminate as much mercury as possible.

You should add in the chelators and supportive agents I recommended above (Part 1, 2, and 3) into your program. When combined with the Kidney support and Toxin Absorber, your body will actively be binding the mercury and then supported for optimal elimination via the GI and kidneys.

If you are interested in testing for mercury and you cannot find a doctor to do a urine challenge (pre and post chelator), I can have a Hair Mineral Analysis done for you if you send in a hair sample. The lab I use will do a complete 10 page report ($120) which will show how much mercury is being released into your tissues. I can give you more information if you're interested. But if you already know you're eliminating mercury from your system, the hair analysis will only confirm this and might not be that helpful unless you are interested in checking for other heavy metals which might be in your system, or mineral imbalances.
