Q. I'm a 59 year old female and work-out at the gym (cardio and strength building). I was told to take Organic Whey Protein before and after workout. What do you recommend?
A. I personally use and recommend Whey Cool or Paleomeal by DFH which both are made from the same organic grade whey protein. The Whey Cool is the best value per container, yet if you have any sort of gastrointestinal problems, the Paleomeal contains additional gut and liver healing nutrients which many people love.
You can mix either into a smoothie once or twice daily. I sometimes make them very simple with just water, and other times make fun smoothies containing a number of additional add ins like Omega 3s, probiotics, and PaleoFiber. I figure you might as well power pack your smoothie and get as many nutrients as possible! See our Whey Protein Smoothie Recipes here which has links to the products I mentioned.
Some popular items added in by those who life weights and do cardio include: Carnitine Tartrate Powder, Creatine powder, and D-Ribose powder. You can read more about the benefits of each of these on the product pages.
If you have any specific health concerns or goals, I'd be glad to make specific recommendations on "add ins" for your smoothy.
