Healthy Detoxification

Jumpstart Your Metabolism with a Healthy Detoxification Program!
The First Signs that You Are Detoxifying

You don't have to wait for Spring to start cleaning house! We've got to detox our bodies at least a couple times per year to get rid of that extra body fat and toxins you accumulated. Consider a healthy detoxification program to achieve a healthy body and clear mind, which you will enjoy for the rest of the year. You will be happy you did!

If you’ve never detoxed before, you will be amazed at the mental clarity and increased energy you will experience in just a few short days. Be aware, however, that you may feel worse temporarily before feeling better;, and this is a sign that the detox program is working. Temporary symptoms include bags under the eyes, coated tongue, sore throat, mild nausea, diarrhea, cramping, anal itching, insomnia and slight fever and headache- especially if breaking a stimulant addiction. Adverse symptoms should only last 2-3 days, at which point the your body will have begun clearing the toxins, and a sense of wellbeing will prevail.

There are two phases to healthy detoxification- phase I and phase II. Phase I involves the removal of toxins from the cells in which they are stored. Phase II occurs when toxins are neutralized and moved out of the body through feces, urine, skin, sweat and breath. It is important that your phase II organs are prepared to neutralize and eliminate the toxins. Pathological detoxifiers or those with weak organs need to take extra care to ensure a complete phase I and II detoxification.

A healthy detox program includes a clean diet, stress reduction, rest, light to moderate exercise, and supportive supplements. Start by scheduling time to rest and nourish your body, then. Decide ahead of time the length of your program, and which foods and supplements you will incorporate. Choose supportive exercise such as yoga, walking, jogging, and/or light muscular exercise. If your detox program is less intensive, you may incorporate more strenuous exercise such as weight training and intense aerobic exercise training.

Eat Nutrient-Rich Foods to Ensure Optimal Detox

  • Focus on eating wholenatural foods, eliminating toxins such as coffee, alcohol, sugar, most grains, preservatives and chemicals found in inorganic foods. Also eliminate digestive stressors- gluten, dairy, and all foods which you are personally sensitive to. By eliminating food toxins, you will allow your body to begin to removing and processing stored toxins. By incorporating nutrient-rich foods, you will support your detox organs- the liver, GI tract, skin, nose, throat, lungs, lymph system, kidneys, bladder and gall bladder. Before and during your detox, ensure a diet rich in antioxidants to neutralize the toxins as they enter your bloodstream. Click here to find a list of suggested detox foods. You may choose to eliminate additional foods.
  • Decide ahead of time how you will ensure adequate fluid intake.
Water comprises 70% of your body, and if you have an if insufficient
amount during detox, toxins will be unable to flush. Plan to drink at
least 80 oz. of water a day, adding more if you are sweating or talking
a lot. You can add variety to your beverages by adding lemon, lime,
Paleogreens, or making a smoothie with frozen berries, Finest Pure Fish
    Oils
or Berry Frutol, and Paleomeal. You may also use non-caffeinated,
    chemical free teas.

  • Use supportive supplements during your detox, as they will help provide your body with the extra nutrients needed to ensure a complete detox. Designs for Health has recently published a detox program which has received incredible reviews.

AHCC for Immune Health
700 Hospitals Recommend AHCC to Support Immune System Health

Especially given concerns about a return of the swine flu this fall, a strong immune system couldn't be more important.

Bolster your immune system with an all-natural and safe supplement with no side effects called AHCC ImmunoKinoko.

Read on for the evidence. In 2001 alone, over 700 hospitals and medical clinics worldwide recommended AHCC to their patients as part of a regimen to maintain and support immune system functioning, particularly for individuals afflicted with serious conditions like cancer, HIV, diabetes and hepatitis C. AHCC has proven especially adept at supporting immune system function during chemotherapy.

But it works even for those suffering just from stress! Stress is well-known to impact proper functioning of our immune systems. AHCC can augment immune response during times of difficulty, anxiety and distress, so just about anyone can benefit from it.

In fact, it’s the best-selling supplement in Japan.

Mushrooms For Immune System Strength

Medicinal mushrooms underlie AHCC’s success. Dr. Keith Martin of Arizona State University described mushrooms earlier this year to Reuters Health as “powerhouses for boosting the immune system” (1).

Some healthful varieties of mushrooms include:

  • Shiitake. Not just delicious, this healthful mushroom is well-known to offer anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, in addition to stimulating the body’s natural immune defense system.

  • Maitake. Tests with mice demonstrated an ability to block the formation of tumors (2). Maitake mushrooms offer a dense mix of nutrients that help not just the immune system, but even blood pressure.

  • Reishi. Another immune system-booster, reishi mushrooms have been used in traditional Asian medicine to treat everything from simple fatigue to organ health.

The key for researchers has been to identify edible mushrooms that pack the most punch with nutrients like vitamins, fiber and proteins. Because mushrooms are a whole food that you can eat normally, they can be used as a supplement with no side effects. Hence, AHCC can rightfully claim the product is extremely safe for human consumption with no contraindications.

To reap the most benefit, mushrooms must be eaten in substantial variety and enormous quantity. Dr. Martin estimates, based on his study, that the average person would have to eat at least 2-1/2 cups of mushrooms every day (3).

Who Can Eat SO MANY Mushrooms EVERY DAY?

It would take a superhuman feat, especially for those whose appetites are likely suppressed by illness or stress.

That’s where AHCC becomes so valuable.

It uses a variety of mushrooms in a proprietary blend formulated using research to determine which mushrooms in what quantities will most effectively enhance the immune system. In addition, AHCC is loaded with 30% more than a person actually needs to compensate any portion that the body may fail to metabolize during digestion. That way, patients are ensured the maximum effective dose every time.

In turn, an impressive array of research supports AHCC’s own performance – hence its recommendation for use in so many hospitals – while also underlining the benefit healthful mushrooms can have in promoting a vigorous immune system, even in the face of catastrophic conditions like cancer.

But What Does It Do Exactly?

AHCC supports a person's immune system to better deal with any condition, and it substantially increases quality of life. Thanks to the body of literature analyzing and researching AHCC, its specific effects are relatively well known.

  • Increases white blood cell survival during chemotherapy, which enables the patient to stay strong during treatment and fight off opportunistic infections (which is also a serious concern with HIV)

  • Promotes the production and maintenance of critical immune system components: NK cells, macrophages, cytokines and interleukins

  • Protects the liver and other organs from damage

  • Inhibits the growth and spread of tumors by empowering the body’s immune response

  • Increases energy levels and decreases fatigue, while promoting more restful sleep

  • Reduces inflammation

What other ALL-NATURAL and SAFE product can offer such PROVEN BENEFITS?

In recognition of this amazing product, we’re offering $25 off the retail price.

Protect Yourself from Swine Flu by Activating Your Immune System
Boost your Immune System with
FOUR Natural and Effective Ways to Prevent the Flu

Here's what you need to do protect yourself...

Activate your immune system and allow it to work for you. These strategies are EFFECTIVE and easier than you may think.

1.) Increase Protein protein foods
Protein is the main macro-nutrient needed for the immune system to function optimally, so if you don't get enough protein (which most of us do not), your immune function can suffer. Be sure to get 4-6oz of clean lean protein per meal.

It's always best to choose organic grass-fed beef or wild-game, or free-roaming chicken and eggs. And if you want amazing seafood, try my favorite clean and pure Alaskan fish from Vital Choice.

Protein Fruit SmoothieBut if you're in hurry, some great sources of healthy protein are organic whey protein powder and gluten-free protein bars. Keep them on hand for a convenient meal or snack.

2.) Eat Colorful Foods
Each color of the food rainbow contains a distinct class of nutrientsveggies and antioxidants. Make sure that throughout the day you're getting some reds, oranges, greens, purples, yellows and whites. This will ensure maximum antioxidant support for all the organs in your body. If you're having trouble getting all those colorful foods each day, do what our nutritionist do, and drink your greens and reds powders.

3.Muco-coccinum10) Take Immune Boosting Supplements
In addition to taking your multi-vitamin & mineral formula and omega-3s, you can arm yourself and your kids with one tablet weekly of Muco-Coccinum. That's right, just one per week.

This homeopathic remedy is impressive and inexpensive! Research shows it will significantly protect you against many flu strains. Check out the amazing testimonials from our clients who have used this product for years and found it protected them and their family quite well.AHCC-Immunokinoko

Another favorite immune supplement we all use is called AHCC-ImmunoKinoko. It's an incredible medicinal mushroom product from Japan which is regularly used in over 700 of their hospitals and clinics. The scientific research on this product is outstanding! Take 1-2 per day for powerful protection against a host of pathogens. Read the full article and videos on Immunokinoko-AHCC here.

4.) Get Good Sleep
No matter how wonderful your diet and supplement program are, your body will always function better with adequate rest. Thus, if you're having trouble relaxing or falling asleep, consider a natural sleep support called Sleep Aide.

You can also practice meditation to maximize your restful sleep, and try sleeping with a lavender pillow or rubbing calming oils into your skin before bed.

Additional Information on Immune Boosters
Vitamin D Supplements (or sunshine)
Vitamin D is key in supporting normal immune system cell functionality, and most of us are quite deficient since we work indoors and wear sunblock outside. Just a little sunshine or 1 capsule every other day goes a long ways to improve your health and prevent sickness.

"Your good health depends on vitamin D. That's because your immune system cells contain receptors for vitamin D; and if vitamin D isn't present in adequate amounts, those cells cannot function properly and your immune system could be weakened. New research is proving it" -Dr.
Whitaker.

Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) is a Chinese herbal remedy that comes from the root of a plant in the pea family. Containing both polysaccharides and flavonoids, it is used traditionally to ward off colds and flu and has been well studied for its antiviral and immunity-enhancing properties.

“The vitamins and minerals in my antioxidant and multivitamin formula work together to block the chemical reactions that generate free radicals (compounds that harm the immune system and can damage DNA) and also help neutralize them. Put simply, antioxidants help safeguard your immune system, retard the aging process, and protect your health.”
- Andrew Weil, M.D.

Echinacea (Purpurea and Angustifolia) with herb Goldenseal have been used for immune system support for centuries.

B-Complex (found in multivitamins) and non-acidic Vitamin C, since they are depleted by stress & are needed to support optimum immune system function.

Zinc is one of the very most important minerals for immunity. Here is an article.

Drink tons of water to flush out toxins and unburden the immune system.

Raw Food and enzyme supplements to shore up immune response.

Glutathione Precursors: Glutathione is considered to be the most powerful, most versatile, and most important of the body's self-generated antioxidants, but it must be in the reduced form to work properly.

Glutathione is a small protein composed of three amino acids - cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine - that is involved in detoxification and antioxidant mechanisms. Glutathione is critical for healthy immune system function.

Glutathione levels help protect the body from oxidative stress. Thus, glutathione levels are correlated with aging and physical function.

One way to drastically increase glutathione levels, aside from consuming glutathione precursors, is through the ingestion of ascorbic acid - vitamin C - and ALA (Alpha Lipolic Acid).

Raw green foods and juices
Greens Foods Powder like PaleoGreens help your system stay alkaline. Acidity weakens the immune system.

Avoid Sugar
Studies show the immune system is paralyzed for a specified period of time after sugar consumption. This includes the sugar in orange juice! Instead, use fresh lemon or lime squeezed in water.

Preventing Osteoporosis
Preventing Osteoporosis: New Dietary Recommendations
by Cora Rivard, ND

Most women, particularly after menopause, are advised by their doctors to take calcium supplements in order to help prevent development of osteopenia (reduction in bone density and strength) and osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition in which osteopenia develops into severe reduction in bone mass, leading to larger spaces, or pores, within the matrix of the bone. This greatly increases the risk of fractures, and overall weakening of the skeleton.

But how is it that osteoporosis has become such a great concern in western societies, especially in the U.S., where we have access to an abundance of foods rich in calcium- such as dairy products, as well as vegetables and grains? In countries such as India, Japan, and Peru, intakes of calcium average about 300mg a day per adult, and yet the risk of osteoporosis is quite low. The nutrition part of the problem is two-fold. First, we often replace sources of whole food nutrition in our diet with foods that are calorically dense but offer little in the way of a good source of minerals and other essential nutrients. Second, some of the nutrients we ingest actually cause the body to excrete more calcium in the urine, notably the excessive consumption of sodium and protein. According to the Linus Pauling Institute in Oregon, “In adult women, each extra gram of sodium consumed per day is projected to produce an additional rate of bone loss of 1% per year…” 1 A small study with postmenopausal women found that adherence to a low sodium diet for 6 months showed a significant reduction in urinary calcium loss, as well as reduction in the appearance of other factors noted in the breakdown of the bone matrix.

Americans, on average, consume almost twice as much protein as suggested by the RDA. Because excess protein consumption causes more calcium to be excreted by the kidneys, the recommended calcium intakes of Americans is higher than that in less industrialized countries. It is, however, important to keep an adequate intake of protein, as a diet too low in protein can also cause a greater risk of fractures. (For women, the RDA for protein is 46 grams/day for women and 56 grams/day for men.) And all proteins are not equal; proteins from animal sources leach more calcium from the bones than vegetable sources.

Though still inconclusive, there are concerns about the effects of excess caffeine over a long period of time, as well as phosphorous. Both of these ingredients are commonly found in sodas. Another concern about soda is the sugar content; a recent study shows adverse effects on bone mass when rats are given sweetened drinks over a period of time.3

Osteoporosis is a multi-factorial disease, meaning that there are other factors besides nutrition which can cause a greater risk of its development, including: smoking, long term medication use such as corticosteroids and anticonvulsants, and certain metabolic diseases.

What can you do to help prevent osteoporosis?
  1. Increase consumption of foods high in calcium, and supplement if necessary. Total intake (diet + supplementation) for women over 51 years of age should be approximately 1200mg per day. Most adults should aim for consuming a total of 1000mg of calcium per day.

  2. Intake of at least 400IU of Vitamin D per day. It is also important to get outside and get minimal exposure to sunlight each day to stimulate vitamin D production in the skin.

  3. Eat a well balanced diet of fresh vegetables, whole grains, and proteins. When consuming dairy products, make sure they are from high quality sources- preferably hormone and antibiotic-free sources. And try to limit your intake of all animal-sourced foods, focus instead on adding more vegetable and whole grain sources of protein and calcium.

  4. Be sure to include dark leafy greens such as cooked spinach, collard greens, and kale, they are high in calcium and offer a rich source of vitamin K, important for bone health..

  5. Weight-bearing exercises and resistance training are the most helpful types of exercises for maintaining healthy bone density. Always check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program.

  6. Avoid consumption of excess sodium (check labels, be especially wary of canned goods, microwave-able meals, fast foods and junk foods.) Focus on whole foods instead, so you know what goes into their preparation!.

  7. Avoid sodas and excess consumption of caffeine. Instead, try herbal teas, sparkling water with a twist of lemon or lime, or just plain water.

Seasonal Allergies News

Have you been going about your days with sneezing, runny nose and itchy, watery eyes? The good news: it is not swine flu! The bad news: we are experiencing higher than usual pollen counts this year...

Seasonal allergies, or "hay fever," occur at specific times of the year, depending upon the individual's sensitivities. In many areas of the U.S., those suffering in the springtime are usually allergic to tree pollen. The most common culprits include oak, elm, maple, alder, birch, juniper, and olive.

In early summer, grass pollens are usually the source of seasonal allergies; in the late summer, it is usually ragweed.

The good news is that there is a lot that you can do to reduce your exposure to pollen, as well as to minimize the reaction that you have to it. We hope you find the following article helpful- it outlines updated information about how you can feel better- today!

Seasonal Allergy Update Foods To Avoid in Allergy Season
by Cora Rivard, N.D.

Did you know that eating certain foods may aggravate your seasonal allergy symptoms? This is because certain foods can cross-react with the same immune responses which react to certain types of pollen (especially birch, cedar, and ragweed).

People with seasonal allergies may find some relief by avoiding certain common foods while their allergies are most active (it is not necessary to avoid them during the rest of the year):

If you suspect you have a birch tree pollen allergy, try avoiding the following: almonds, apples, apricots, carrots, celery, cherries, coriander, fennel, hazelnuts, kiwi, lychee fruit, nectarines, parsley, parsnips, peaches, pears, peppers, persimmon, plums, potatoes, prunes, soy, wheat, zucchini, walnuts.

For grass pollen allergy: celery, watermelon, oranges, peaches, tomatoes Ragweed pollen Bananas, melons (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew), gourd family (cucumber, zucchini and squash), chamomile, echinacea, sunflower seeds, zucchini.

For alder pollen allergy: celery, pears, apples, almonds, cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, parsley.

For mugwort pollen allergy: celery, fennel, carrots, parsley, coriander, sunflower, peppers.

It may also be a good idea to avoid using teas or other natural supplements which contain echinacea or chamomile during that time, as both of these plants are related to the plants in the ragweed family.

Other foods to avoid in excess are ones which contain a large proportion of a certain type of fatty acid: omega-6, known as linoleic acid (not to be confused with omega-3/ALA or alpha-linolenic acid.) While consumption of both varieties is essential to human health, the diet in the U.S. tends to be relatively high in omega-6, in relation to omega-3, an imbalance that has been implicated in causing inflammation and far-reaching consequences in many types of chronic diseases. Oils high in the omega-6's include many of the vegetable oils used for high heat cooking or frying, such as corn, soybean, safflower, and sunflower oils. It is therefore a good idea to avoid fried foods, bakery goods (such as donuts, pastries, and cakes), and fast foods. Studies have not yet illuminated whether using omega-3's, such as fish oils, can directly reduce allergy symptoms, but they have repeatedly shown the adverse effects of a diet excessive in omega-6 foods.

So what else can you do to help reduce the symptoms of seasonal allergies? It is always a good idea to reduce your exposure to pollens as much as possible. One way is to avoid exercising outside in the early morning hours, when many plants tend to release their pollen. Pollen counts are usually lower on cool or rainy days and higher on warm, sunny days, particularly the first sunny day after it has been rainy.

It is also a good idea to launder your sheets and clothing frequently with hot water and use an extra rinse cycle.

Some people report relief with using a saline rinse, either commercially prepared or with a neti pot, to rinse out the pollen and reduce irritation to the lining of the nasal passages.

3 Reasons to Get More Protein

Protein Smoothie Power Pack

3 Important Reasons to Consume More Protein

Did you know that healthy protein intake gives you more energy, better immunity and improved weight control?

The problem is, most of us don't even realize we are not getting enough. Are YOU one of them?

You already know you need protein in a healthy diet, but do you know just how critical this nutrient is for your health? After water, protein is the single most common component of your body. Everything - from muscles to blood to organs - need a plentiful supply of complete proteins for optimal health. This single nutrient:

  • Offers immune-boosting effects and is necessary for optimum wellness

  • Raises protective HDL cholesterol

  • Lowers triglycerides

  • Improves insulin action and blood sugar balance

  • Promotes lean muscle growth, creates satiety and assists weight management

Meanwhile, insufficient protein leads to:

  • Low energy and fatigue

  • A weak immune system, making you more susceptible to colds, the flu, other infections and certain diseases

  • Slow metabolism

  • Low blood sugar

  • And can contribute to the onset of heart disease, osteoporosis and other conditions

Whew! Who knew a single nutrient could have such a powerful impact on your health! So the question is, are you getting enough protein?

You need more protein when you are:

  • Fatigued

  • Stressed

  • in flu season, currently or recently ill or suffering from a health condition (i.e., your immune system is under strain)

  • Engaged in athletic or strenuous physical activities like sports and exercise

  • Following a special diet

Ultimately, virtually everyone will enjoy the energizing, health-boosting benefits with a few extra ounces of protein a day.

Whey protein powder is the single best way to boost your protein intake: It mixes easily into healthy smoothies, digests quickly and easily and provides the full complement of amino acids along with critical immune-system boosting components (like immunoglobulin).

Problem is, not all proteins are created equal.

But even whey protein supplements can vary dramatically in healthfulness. The way proteins are processed can damage them; and damaged proteins are harder to digest, absorb and use. Worse, you're more likely to suffer an allergic reaction from damaged proteins! So what's a nutrition-conscious person to do? How do you get enough protein, and make sure that protein is optimized for your health and well-being?

Our recommendation: Whey Cool Protein

Whew Cool ProteinWhy is Whey Cool the way to go? Let's look at some of the common issues with protein, and how Whey Cool solves them.

Problem: Inability to get sufficient protein from a regular diet, and in proper proportion to other nutrients.

Whey Cool Protein is a super-easy way to get healthy protein into your diet in whatever amount you require. It’s pretty much pure protein which mixes easily into any beverage of your choice. Plus, Whey Cool tastes great too.

Problem: Many natural sources of protein are incomplete.

Whey Cool Protein contains the full range of biologically active, complete amino acid profile. Even protein from whole foods doesn’t necessarily give you a complete protein, or all of the essential amino acids that make up proteins. Some amino acids may be missing, or present only in scant proportions. This is particularly true of vegetarian sources of protein.

Problem: Over-processing damages proteins.

Whey Cool Protein is minimally processed, meaning it's not subjected to temperatures that would destroy or deform the original components. In fact, high heat processing can cause lactose intolerance even in individuals who have no history of milk allergies!

Other aspects of protein processing can also damage the proteins. You may have heard some of these terms for protein supplements: cross-flow filtration, microfiltration, ultra filtration, hydrolyzation and ion-exchange methods.

Forget 'em all. They're basically fancy ways of saying the protein has been damaged (i.e., denatured), which is not a good thing. Whey Cool eschews all that for a pure, less processed protein.

Problem: Most proteins don't meet organic standards for either your health or the environment's.

Whey Cool is a protein you can feel safer and better about consuming because you're helping the environment as well as yourself. It's produced with milk harvested from cows that graze on pesticide- and chemical-free natural grass pastures. Milk from grass-fed cows is much more nutritious than milk from grain-fed cows because it contains much higher levels of CLA, a healthful essential fatty acid. In addition, these cows are never subjected to any growth hormone treatment, antibiotics, genetically modified organisms, hyper-immunization or injected pathogens.

Problem: Most whey protein supplements contain numerous additives, chemicals and artificial sweeteners which are not optimum for a healthy diet.

Whey Cool Protein doesn't add any extraneous filler. It simply offers the full range and exceptional levels of the most important protein components in a pure, clean, minimally processed protein.

Plastic Bottles: How safe are they?
Plastic Water Bottles: How Safe are They?
by Cora Rivard, ND

The bottled water industry has enjoyed booming growth in the recent decade as an increasingly health conscious population sought the convenience and perceived “purity” in purchasing bottled water. Aside from questions about the source of many bottled “spring” water brands, (some of which simply come from filtered tap water), fewer required tests for contaminants as compared to municipal sources, and the greater expenses and environmental impact of increased plastic waste, another important question has surfaced in recent years: how safe are these plastic containers for our health?

Most bottled waters and sodas are contained in a type of plastic called, polyethylene terephthalate (PET). While widely deemed safe for human consumption as single use containers by industry standards, it is known that this form of plastic degrades over time with use. What is not widely known is that this type of plastic has been found to leach carcinogens, such as antimony and other toxins, into mineral water samples after only two to four weeks of storage at room temperatures.1,2,3 These levels are enough to cause genetic mutations in the roots of plants watered with these samples. Exposure to sunlight and increased temperatures significantly increases the level of mutagens leached into water. 4

In addition, many plastics include a chemical called, Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), which helps to keep them flexible. It is present in plastic bottles, as well as many food storage plastics and plastic wraps. This chemical has been shown to be harmful to reproductive organs in rat models when consumed in high levels, as well as damaging to fetal development.5 The effect of long term, low level exposure to these chemicals is unknown.

What about those clear, hard plastic bottles? The plastic used in making many types of hard plastic bottles, most baby bottles, liners within food and beverage cans, as well as the large sized water cooler jugs in many offices, is called polycarbonate. In recent years it has been found that this type of plastic leaches small amounts of bisphenol A (BPA), which is a neurotoxic, estrogen-like chemical that can disrupt natural hormone functions in animal studies.6 When used at normal temperatures, leached amounts of BPA fall far below what is deemed toxic for human exposure. However, it has been found that when these plastics are exposed to hot water, through washing or storing hot liquids and foods, they can leach up to 55 times as much of this chemical! Because these plastics are everywhere in our environment, and studies have not been able to control for the compounded effects of low dose, chronic exposure to these substances over many years, it seems wise to reduce exposure as much as possible. Especially at a time when environmental contaminants which mimic estrogens could be contributing to our increasing incidences of cancers in reproductive organs, lowered sperm counts in men, and overall increase in endocrine disorders.

So how can you limit the exposure of potentially dangerous plastics to your family?

It is best to use glass or stainless steel bottles instead of plastic. When you do use plastic bottles, never store in hot temperatures or sunlight (don’t leave them in the care!), and don’t reuse- dispose the bottle into the correct recycling bin after a single use.

When shopping for baby bottles, make sure to purchase bottles labeled as “BPA-free.” Examples of brands which make BPA-free bottles include, “Born Free” and “Medela.”

With food storage, try to avoid purchasing items covered in plastic wraps or plastic containers. Hot temperatures and fatty foods in direct contact with the plastic will cause higher migration of contaminants. Some brands, like, “Saran Wrap” and “Glad Wrap” have changed their product so that they no longer contains BPA. Never put a plastic container into the microwave unless specifically designated as microwave safe. Taking these guidelines for use into consideration, the plastics least likely to leach when used as recommended, are numbered: #1, 2, 4 and 5.

Vitamin D Deficiency
Are you Deficient in Vitamin D?

It's quite simple to find out. Are you getting 2-3 hours of direct sunlight per week with no sunscreen? Are you taking Vitamin D supplement or Cod Liver Oil? Probably not!

Although you can obtain vitamin D from the sun, we tend not to these days since we work indoors and are scared of sun exposure. The result is that 90% of the country is vitamin D deficient. This means YOU.

A worldwide expert, Michael Holick, PhD, MD, has has done studies on vitamin D for the last 20 years showing that deficiency is at epidemic proportions the United States.
Consequences of vitamin D deficiency include:

Generalized bone pain or isolated bone pain (Osteomalacia)
  • Muscle aches
  • Weakened immune system
  • Depression
  • Osteoporosis
  • Breast, ovarian, prostate, and colon cancer
  • Leukemia in children
  • Kidney disease or kidney stones
  • High blood pressure
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Autoimmune disease prevention (type I diabetes, MS)
  • Weakened liver function
Research shows that activated Vitamin D inhibits cancer cell growth, so get your 2-3 hours of sun per week, or take your vitamin D!

Vitamin D Deficiency: A Growing Concern in the U.S.
by Cora Rivard, ND

Vitamin D is critically important for many functions in the body. Most people are aware of its necessity for healthy bones; it promotes proper calcium absorption in the gut, and maintains correct levels of calcium and phosphate in the blood for bone mineralization. It is also required for bone growth and remodeling, which is why a severe deficiency can cause rickets in children (and is still reported in the U.S. today.) What many people don’t know is that it also has important health implications in other body systems, such as nerve and muscle function, immune system function, and reducing inflammation in the body. 1,2 Taking into consideration a rather widespread deficiency of adequate vitamin D, even in relatively affluent countries, an astonishing recent meta-analysis report showed a collective reduction in all cause mortality by 7% based upon 9 trials with supplementation of vitamin D in amounts varying from 300-2,000 I.U. per day.3

So how do we get vitamin D? Our main source is from exposure to UV light, which causes vitamin D to be synthesized in the skin. The form that we initially get from sun exposure and oral consumption of vitamin D is inert and must be converted twice in the body before it becomes its most active form: first in liver, then primarily in the kidneys. Vitamin D is not found naturally in many foods, but it is routinely fortified into products such as milk and other dairy products. Unfortunately, this is usually not enough to guarantee that requirements are being met for children or adults.

In temperate climates, the winter months pose a particular challenge for getting an adequate supply of vitamin D. Reduced exposure to sunlight because of cold weather, as well as weaker UV penetration through the atmosphere during those months makes it difficult to get enough UV stimulation of the skin. Even in the warmer months, wearing sunblock, having darker skin tones, and spending more time indoors can greatly limit UV exposure. Furthermore, cloud cover and pollution reduce the ability of UV rays to penetrate the earth’s atmosphere.

Many cells in the human body, especially in the immune system, have receptors for vitamin D in their membranes. There is interesting research that vitamin D plays a role in defending our bodies from infection, by increasing the aptitude of certain immune cells called macrophages to attack invaded cells.4 Other research studies note that humans are most susceptible to respiratory diseases when exposed to a particular viral strain in winter months, as opposed to summer months. We already know that cold viruses and influenza infections peak in winter and early spring months in temperate climates, but tropical climates also have their seasonal peaks of viral respiratory infections5- they occur in the rainy seasons when UV light is partially blocked and people spend more time indoors.

Of even greater concern, we now know that vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of serious chronic disease, including: many common cancers, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, cardiovascular heart disease, and type I diabetes.6,7

Populations at increased risk of vitamin D deficiency:

  1. Infants who are exclusively breastfed. In 2008, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) issued a statement to recommend double the amount of vitamin D previously recommended for infants and adolescents, currently 400 IU. Most baby nutritional formulas and milk products are fortified to provide 400 IU per liter. So, children consuming less than this amount per day are recommended to supplement the difference, up to the limit of 400 IU.
  1. The elderly and invalid. This population often gets less sunlight exposure, and their skin is less able to convert vitamin D.
  1. People with digestive limitations. People who have conditions which limit their absorption of nutrients in general, and fats in particular, are at risk of becoming deficient. (vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin.) This includes those with intestinal surgical interventions such as small bowel resection, those with inflammatory or autoimmune intestinal disorders such as Crohn disease or celiac, or pancreatic insufficiency.
  1. Obese individuals. Since vitamin D is fat soluble, increased body fat may cause too much vitamin D to be stored in fat cells, and not enough to be available for general use.
  1. Individuals using certain medications. Corticosteroids like prednisone inhibit calcium absorption and interfere with vitamin D metabolism, which is why people using these anti-inflammatory medications have an increased risk of developing osteoporosis. Weight loss drugs which inhibit fat and cholesterol absorption, and drugs used to control epileptic seizures such as phenobarbital and phenytoin can also interfere with vitamin D availability and metabolism.

General nutrition guidelines, IU’s per day**:

Infants, children, adolescents: 400 IU

Adults under age 50: 400-600 IU

Adults over age 50: 800- 1000 IU

**these recommendations are modest increases over the current Adequate Intakes (A.I.). These are levels developed by the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) at the Institute of Medicine of The National Academies (formerly National Academy of Sciences). “Adequate Intake (AI) is established when evidence is insufficient to develop an RDA and is set at a level assumed to ensure nutritional adequacy.”

People who test low in serum vitamin D may be instructed by their physicians to take much higher doses until the deficiency is corrected.

Testing: Lab diagnosis to determine blood levels of 25(OH)D is generally the best reflection of vitamin D status. It will measure total vitamin D, including what is produced in the skin, as well as what is obtained from food and supplements.

Symptoms of deficiency can be subtle, but may include muscle pain and weakness.

How to get adequate vitamin D:

1. Sun exposure. Suggestions vary, but one way is to try to get anywhere from 5-15 minutes of sun exposure to face, arms, legs and/or back between the hours of 10am and 3pm several times per week. (without sunblock.) Unfortunately, if you live at a latitude above 42 degrees north latitude (which is a line drawn approximately between the northern border of California to Boston), sunlight exposure will not be sufficient for producing vitamin D between the months of November and February.8 As an important side note, the benefits of exposure to sunlight without protection need to be balanced with the increased risk of skin cancer.

2. Food. The following table outlines food choices with the corresponding amounts of vitamin D. Cod liver oil is a particularly rich source of natural vitamin D, as well as fat soluble vitamin A.

3. Supplements: vitamin D supplements come in two forms: D2 (ergocalciferol), and D3 (cholecalciferol). Both forms have been shown to effectively prevent rickets, but they are each metabolized in different ways in the body. D3 could be more than 3 times as effective as D2 at raising serum 25(OH)D concentrations, and at maintaining those levels for longer times.

Symptoms of toxicity: headaches, weakness, nausea and vomiting, constipation, increased thirst, increased urination, and diarrhea. Vitamin D toxicity can lead to bone loss, kidney stones, and calcifications in various organs.

Toxic interactions:

People taking digoxin/ digitalis need to use caution and check with their doctor before considering supplementation of vitamin D, as this combination can cause hypercalcemia.

What's the best time to take HMF Replete, and will yogurt reduce its effect?
Q. I am on antibiotics and am currently taking HMF Replete by Genestra, when is the best time to take the probiotic? Does yogurt reduce the effect of the probiotic?

A. The best time to take your probiotics such as HMF Replete is a few hours after taking your antibiotics. For example, if you take them twice per day 10am and 10pm, take your HMF at 5pm. If you are taking antibiotics 3 times daily i.e. 9am, 4pm, 11pm, take your HMF at 7pm.

Yogurt does not reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics, but it will kill off any cultures in the yogurt.

I am taking HMF Replete and it is making me feel awfully dizzy, should I discontinue taking it?
Q. I am taking HMF Replete and it is making me feel awfully dizzy, should I discontinue taking it?

A. It seems that you are experiencing some detoxification and yeast die-off effects from those products, which are a good sign. These negative effects could be very unpleasant, but the symptoms usually disappear within few days. If they are really intolerable, you could try to decrease the dose and gradually go back to the recommended dosage.

We strongly recommend that you keep on using the HMF Replete, especially if you have serious Candida and intestinal problems.

Labels:

Should I store the HMF Replete in the refrigerator?
Q. Should I store the HMF Replete in the refrigerator?

A. Since October 2004, the manufacturer of the HMF products has increased the product stability, allowing the probiotics to last up to 6 months at room temperature holding their GUARANTEED minimum potency on label. Therefore, you do not need to refrigerate the product if you use it within the next 6 months.

However, if possible and convenient, we recommend you store your probiotics in the freezer or refrigerator, especially if you plan to preserve freshness of your product for months or years.

HMF powders/capsules, what does Human source mean? Where is the acidophilus dervied from?
Q. HMF powders/capsules, what does Human source mean? Where is the acidophilus dervied from?

A. Using laboratory procedures many years ago, hundreds of different bacterial strains were isolated from a healthy human intestinal wall sample. They were separated out, and each one was reproduced to make huge batches for testing via scientific trials. (Lab procedures only require one cell sample to reproduce large quantities for testing and production over the years).

Research indicated that only four of the hundreds of available cultures were the beneficial strains with health promoting properties. These were the ones which held up strong during 10 years of testing, thus they were used as the probiotic strains in all the HMF products.

Similarly, the HMF Candigen suppository strains were isolated from a sample of healthy vaginal cells and are identical to the beneficial cultures found in the vagina. Thus they adhere quite well resulting in a restoration and balance of healthy flora and a stronger vaginal immune system.

These human strains are far superior to dairy or animal strains since the body recognizes these probiotics as “self” and allows better implantation.

What is the base of all HMF probiotics, and what is the source of FOS?
Q. What is in the base of all HMF probiotics and what is the source of FOS (i.e. HMF Replete, HMF Powder, HMF Neuro, HMF capsules)?

A. The base of the HMF probiotics contains FOS derived from Chicory Root and a Vegetable syrup base. There is NO glucose in the product. The beneficial bacteria is grown on a medium which contain glucose derived from vegetable syrup as a food source. The bacteria is then extracted/ separated from its growth medium. Apricot powder is added for flavor and is vegetarian, vegan and Kosher, as well as free from nuts, gluten, egg, fish, dairy, lactose, wheat, yeast, sugar, salt, crustaceans, starch, and gelatin.

Why does HMF probiotics contain only 4 strains, yet replenishes the GI so well?
Q. Since there are so many hundreds of types of bacteria in our GI, then why does HMF Super Powder probiotics contain only 4 strains? And how does it actually succeed in replenishing the GI so well?

A. The answer is that after 15+ years of research, scientists discovered that not all the bacteria in our GI are beneficial, and that many were neutral or had had very mild positive effects. Some were more helpful in men or women, some better in children.

However, 4 strains in particular showed to have immense positive effects time and time again, and in all people. These positive effects were anti-inflammatory, anti-Candida, pro-immune system, and relieved acute intestinal upset in adults and children, women and men. So in order to make the most effective product, they decided to include only the 4 strains which showed to be the “super star” probiotics with a flawless record for its beneficial effects.

What is the difference between the HMF Super Powder and the HMF Intensive?
Q. What is the difference between the HMF Super Powder and the HMF Intensive?

A. While HMF Super Powder contain a little FOS, the HMF Intensive caps do not. FOS is a pre-biotic which feeds the beneficial bacteria, but some people with severe GI problems and Candida cannot tolerate FOS for the first week or two of supplementation and treatment. For these clients I usually recommend HMF Intensive for the first 10 days (3 caps per day), and then HLC High Potency powder or caps for the following 1-3 months.

The HMF Super Powder and HMF Intensive Synergy powder contain significantly more FOS than any of the capsule products.

If you get symptoms of excessive gas and bloating after taking a product containing FOS, you know that 1) your really need to continue taking probiotics since it means you have too many unfavorable organisms in the GI and not enough beneficial bacteria, and 2) the FOS is causing the gas/bloating, but the symptoms will subside within 2-10 days depending on severity of imbalance.

A. I suggest using HMF Super Powder for your 4-year old. It is perfectly safe for a toddler. As a matter of fact, my 5-year old niece has been taking it for years.

If your child currently experiences a lot of gas or bloating, he/she would benefit from first taking HMF Intensive probiotics for a week or two, and then continuing with HMF Super Powder.

Is HMF Neuro 100% casein free and not grown from dairy?
Q. Is HMF Neuro 100% casein free, and not grown on dairy? Also, I heard L-Glutamine can become an excitotoxin if not converted to GABA, a process which most people on the autism spectrum could have trouble with, so I am concerned about giving Mindlinx to my son [who is] on the spectrum.

A. Yes, HMF Neuro (and all HLC probiotics) are not derived from dairy, thus are 100% free of casein. Second, every study about the level of amino acids on autistic children shows that they are deficient in glutamine. In addition, the vast majority of autistic children have GI tract issues and glutamine is the most important nutrient for the upper part of the GI tract. This surely indicates that glutamine could be a very important supplement for people who are autistic.

The three amino acids glutamic acid (GA), gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and glutamine (GAM) are closely related and all involved in proper brain function. GA is an excitatory neurotransmitter, GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter and GAM controls that GA and GABA are in balance. GAM can be converted to both GA and GABA. If adequate vitamin B6 is not present the conversion from GAM to GABA is inhibited and GA could be upregulated. Other factors, which I am not aware of, could potentially upregulate the conversion from GAm to GA, and GAM, therefore, might not be a beneficial supplement for autistic children. However, I would still like to mention that all studies on amino acids levels show that autistic children are deficient in glutamine.

If you have any concerns, you can start your child on HMF Intensive which does not contain any glutamine and use this product for a month or two for intensive gut repair, then switch to HMF Neuro.

Labels:

Will taking HMF Neuro allow me to safely consume gluten and casein which I am sensitive to?
Q. Will taking HMF Neuro allow me to safely consume gluten and casein which I am sensitive to?

A. HMF Neuro will help you better tolerate and breakdown gluten, casein (all dairy), soy and eggs. Yet, much will depend on your level of sensitivity to these allergens.

If your sensitivity is mild, you may find that taking HMF Neuro will allow you to consume some casein and gluten with little to no side effects.
Yet, if your sensitivity is severe such as with Celiacs Disease, you may find that your body better tolerates accidental consumption or trace amounts of gluten. Those with Autism and ADHD have benefited since these allergens can have profound effects on brain chemistry.

The ingredients within the formula including glutamine and special strains of probiotics, will help strengthen the GI tract so that you are better able to tolerate these food sensitivities when you come into contact with them. By strengthening the villi in the stomach lining and helping break down gluten and casein, you are less likely to have a reaction to these foods when found in trace amounts.

Does HMF Natogen contain FOS or sugar as I heard glucose may feed bacteria?
Q. Does the HMF Natogen contain FOS or any sugar? Doesn't glucose feed the harmful organisms like candida? Do FOS feed bad microbials?

A. The HMF Natogen by Genestra does not contain any FOS. Neither does the HMF Intensive capsules by Genestra. None of the HMF products contain glucose.

Although FOS can sometimes feed bad microbials resulting in some gas for the first few days, they in large part feed the good bacteria and significantly promote their growth. Their effect on beneficial flora is so huge that the few bad organisms they feed is negated.

Labels:

Is HMF Natogen lactose-based?
Q. Is HMF Natogen lactose-based?

A. All the HMF probiotics including HMF Natogen, are dairy free and do NOT contain a lactose base. Instead, they are derived from human cells in a non-dairy base of FOS and vegetable glucose. The HMF products were designed to target those who have dairy sensitivities, thus HMF Natogen is safe for your 8 month old child who has milk allergy. In addition, these human strains of probiotics adhere significantly better in the GI than dairy or animal strains since the body recognizes them as human/self.

Probiotics help diminish the symptoms from food allergies, so taking them for the long term is a good idea. You should see improvements in his symptoms within 1-4 weeks, but he should continue to be on probiotics through his infancy to improve his immune system.

Is HMF Natogen safe for an infant?
Q. Is HMF Natogen safe for an infant?

A. HMF Natogen is very safe for your infant and will most definitely help re-establish her natural flora, improve her digestion, and reduce her gas. Yes, it is true that when a breast feeding mother takes antibiotics, both she and her infant's flora are wiped out since the antibiotics are carried through the breast milk.

Studies show that colicky infants benefit from taking infant probiotics for 6 months or more to successfully re-establish the natural flora. It is possible that you will notice the improvement within days, but continue to give her the HMF Natogen for a few months to ensure good implantation of the probiotic.

Do you have information on the side effects of HMF Forte Probiotic caps?
Q. Do you have information on the side effects of HMF Forte Probiotic caps?

A. Probiotics in general are considered extremely safe for consumption with no known harmful side effects or toxicity. Even taking an entire bottle in one sitting would not cause any serious condition (perhaps just great bowel movements the next day).

In the 5 years I have worked with all HMF probiotics, no one has complained of any side effects from the capsules. Yet, some people experience temporary side effects while taking the HMF Replete or HMF Powder which are more advanced products containing larger amounts of FOS. These side effects include gas, headaches, or general malaise, they last no more than 1-2 weeks, and are only present in 1-5% of people who take HMF probiotics.

10% of people experience some gas while first taking HMF Replete powder due to the high FOS content. FOS can cause some gas if your GI contains a large number of pathogenic bacteria and not enough good bacteria, so basically, the more gas you have, the more you really needed to take the probiotics. As the gas subsides (sometimes in just 1-2 days), it means the probiotics are implanting successfully.

The symptoms of headaches or malaise are experienced by about 2% of people and are a sign that your body is detoxifying itself. These are not harmful side effects, but possibly annoying ones, and clearly they indicate some treatment success. If you do experience any side effects with HMF Forte, you can reduce your dose, but I really have not heard any complaints from the capsules.

I took HMF Forte a month ago and feel fine. When & how should I resume usage?
Q. I finished taking HMF Forte one month ago and feel fine. Do you recommend taking them at any particular time frames or in intervals?

A. Since you have no symptoms, I recommend you take HMF Forte on a maintenance level 1 to 2 capsules per day to keep the immune system and gastrointestinal (GI) track strong. The immune system is largely dependent on the health of the intestines, so keeping them healthy and eliminating toxins well is quite important. I am unsure of the reason why you started taking them. Perhaps you were on antibiotics?

Here are my recommendations. If you have no GI symptoms currently, take one capsule per day. And, whenever you eat something that has made your stomach upset, take 4 capsules at once to “put out the fire”.

Before you travel overseas, take 2 caps twice daily for 7 days, and continue throughout your trip to prevent or treat “traveler’s tummy”. Also, if you ever need to take antibiotics again, you’ll need to supplement with HMF probiotics for at least 1-3 months to replenish the good flora.

These probiotics keep for over 2 years in the freezer, so it’s best to keep some on hand since they are so therapeutic for a variety of conditions.

This time, I did significantly better despite the fact that I even drank the tap water. I could tell the difference it made since my stomach would get gurgly after the meal, but rather than getting really sick for days, the gurgly feeling would go away in a few hours.

A. Yes, you can use HMF Candigen suppositories during your period. Ideally, use one at night since laying down will help it stay in longer. If your flow is heavy, it may be a little bit of a challenge, but even if it stays only a couple hours it will be helpful. If you have some oral probiotics such as HMF Forte or HMF Powder, use that as well since the oral intake and suppositories work really well together.

Q. I am 6 weeks pregnant and taking the Super Matragen. Why is the Vitamin A content so high? Most reading I do says not to get more than 4000 IUs of vitamin A?

A.
It is recommended to limit your Vitamin A status to 5,000 IUs during pregnancy. The major food sources of Vitamin A are liver, butter, egg yolks, whole milk, cream. Depending on your consumption of these foods, you might want to take 2-3 capsules of the Super Matragen.

Why is the amount Super EFA liquid in the bottle not filled to the top?
Q. Why is the amount Super EFA liquid in the bottle not filled to the top?

A. Although you are getting a full 200 ml of EFA Liquid in your product, Genestra uses a bottle size which is larger than the amount intended to fill it. This is so that spillage does not occur and so that the suction safety seal can stay in place better. Rest assured that all bottles have their fill line about 1.5 inches below the bottle cap, and if you measure out the contents, you will find that it does contain 200ml (6.7 oz).

Labels:

Does Super EFA have too much Vitamin A & how long can it stay refrigerated?
Q. Will Super EFA provide us with too much Vitamin A? Is the oil made from the bodies of fish or fish livers? How long can I keep it refrigerated?

A. The Super EFA Liquid by Genestra does not contain any vitamin A. Only Cod Liver Oil contains vitamin A & D. This fish oil is not made from fish liver, but rather from the fish itself.
  • Eicosapentenoic Acid (EPA).......1050 mg
  • Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA).......750 mg
  • Concentrated Pure Fish Oil.......2250 mg
  • From Wild Salmon and Wild Anchovies
  • Vitamin E (Mixed Tocopherols).......25 mg
  • Essential Oil of Orange
In addition, even if you were to take a Cod Liver Oil product, they usually contain between 500 to 2,500 IU of Vitamin A per teaspoon depending on the product, yet 5,000 IU is the daily safe recommended intake for pregnant women so even Cod Liver Oil would have to be taken in the dose of 2-8 teaspoons per day to get the maximum Vit A dose.

If you are not planning pregnancy, you could safely take up to 100,000 IU of micelized vitamin A (A-Mulsion Liquid by Genestra) for healing of acute respiratory infection or other mucous/skin infections for 3-7 days since it is incredibly beneficial. Vitamin A is not toxic except when taken in huge amounts for long periods of time, and when taken by pregnant women.

I always recommend you take fat soluble antioxidants in conjunction with fish oils since antioxidants help to stabilize them and Omega 3 oils such as fish oils can cause oxidative stress on the body. Take at least 400 IU of Vitamin E such as this product:

Vitamin E Emulsified by Genestra: Take 1 or more per day with a meal.

Also, you should be taking a good multi-vitamin daily which contains a variety of antioxidants and minerals.

What do you suggest for kidney stones accompanied by high cholesterol?
Q. I am 38 years old. I have two health problems: high cholesterol level and kidney stones. Also, my triglyceride level is high (2.8). I have two stones in my left kidney—6mm and 3mm (uric acid type). Would you recommend any of your products for treatment of such health problems?

A. There are things you can do to support your health, naturally.

For your kidneys, what is your medical treatment plan? You may want to try the Renal TKI formula and/or HKI Renal drops by Genestra, both indicated for kidney stones and overall kidney health. Renal Formula is a nutritional and herbal combination for improved kidney health, while HKI is a homeopathic formula.

For cholesterol and triglycerides, consider a few things. First, work on improving your diet with reduction of sugar, processed foods, and all hydrogenated oils. Eat plenty of green & colorful vegetables each day, and one fruit per day. Exercise. And finally, consider taking a few supplements to help.

Phos Choline
—this is a liver nutrient which aids in reducing cholesterol levels by protecting the liver cells. Take 1-2 caps with each meal.

Herbal Bulk—this is a great fiber supplement containing both soluble and insoluble fiber which helps absorb excess cholesterol from being reabsorbed, and push it out. Take 2 tsp daily mixed in water, to be followed by a large glass of water.

HMF Probiotics—this is good bacteria for the gut, needed to help produce nutrients for cholesterol metabolism, and many other functions. It will help your body in so many ways! Take 1 tsp daily following a meal.
HMF Super Powder and lastly,

Super EFA fish oils—this is so important for anti-inflammation and regulation of blood. It has been proven to improve cholesterol, both HDL and LDL. You will want to take around 1 TBS daily from a spoon or in a smoothie!

Is Phyto Greens OK for daily use? What causes premature graying?
Q. Is Phyto Greens by Genestra good to take daily? Is premature grey hairs caused by a vitamin/mineral deficiency?

A. Phyto Greens is an excellent product to take daily. I personally start off each day with my greens to alkalinize my system which helps boost immune function, better digestion, and gives me some antioxidant defense. The greens products are excellent for the skin, intestinal health, and to slow the aging process. They are packed with many valuable nutrients which will help your body run optimally.

As for the grey hairs, there has been some research showing that replenishing certain minerals in the body will reverse gray hairs. Zinc and magnesium are two of them, but all the minerals in combination are critical. Here is a great mineral formula I recommend:

I feel a light headed inhaling Aroma 13 deeply. Does it affect blood pressure?
Q. Can you provide me with more information about HTHY Thyroid drops? Also, I am taking Aroma 13 for sinus; however, I have high blood pressure, and feel a bit light-headed after inhalling it deeply. Will Aroma 13 affect my blood pressure?

A. HTHY Thyroid drops by Genestra is a homeopathic organotherapy preparation synergistically formulated for the support and balance of the immune, reproductive and endocrine systems. Studies show that the thyroid acts as the regulator for the entire glandular system, thereof if you are having any hormonal imbalances, the thyroid may be part of the problem.

I am unsure as to whether you are taking thyroidium from us via the above product or whether it is from another source, which I would not be able to comment on.

When you take Aroma # 13, are you inhaling by wet or dry method? You may want to change the method or try using fewer drops or more diluted solution so that you don't experience a "high". However if you are really congested I wonder if the sensation you are experience is oxygenation of your brain cells.

For high blood pressure, we certainly have some effective and safe supplements to aid. Certainly I would recommend Super EFA liquid by Genestra to promote vessle and blood health- this contains healthy levels of omega-3 fatty acids. However you will need to be monitored when beginning and possibly need to taper off of the baby aspirin. Super EFA's may be a better choice over the aspirin (they do the same thing- but in different ways) as they spare your intestines- a very critical organ for good health.

Super EFA Liquid by Genestra: (Begin by taking 1 tsp daily, monitor blood pressure, work with MD/ND/Pharmacist- may want to cut down or eliminate aspirin simultaneously while increasing EFA dose to 1 TBS. daily. This will help not only your blood pressure, but your overall cardiovascular system as well as brain and hormonal health- thyroid too!)

Additionally I recommend this Mag Cal Plus by Genestra to aid in the relaxation of your blood vessles (blood pressure): (Take 2 tablets 2 times daily to aid in blood pressure, relaxation and rest)

Q. What is the recommended dose & suggested use for the HTYH Thyroid drops by Genestra? Will it make me lose weight? Also, where can I read more about EFA's and their benefits?

A. The HTHY recommended dosage for adult is: 10 drops under the tongue two to three times daily, 20 minutes away from meals. If you find it too strong, you can mix it with a little bit of water. It is fine to take it with the Unda products.

HTHY Thyroid Drops is indicated for thyroid dysfunctions, including symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome and menopause, obesity, weight loss and fatigue; and for heavy metal toxicity and chronic infections. It is indicated to rebalance your thyroid function, and it shouldn't make you loose extra weight.

Could Herbalite cause an itchy rash on the face, neck, and/or chest?
Q. My daughter developed an itchy rash on her chest, face and neck after taking Herbalite. Could Herbalite have caused it?

A. The side effects that your daughter experienced could in fact be from the Herbalite if she hasn’t done anything else differently. Even though she could be annoyed by those symptoms, they are actually a great sign of detoxification reaction, which means that the product is really working at cleaning up her system.

I would suggest that she keeps on taking the product while decreasing the dose
(for example by giving her half the dose of what she took previously) and see how she does; her rashes should get better in a couple of days.

A. I believe you are taking the appropriate steps by using the NRG foot bath, the magnetic clay and the supplement programs. Remember that it could take a few weeks before she starts feeling better since she could experience some side effects from detoxification.

Her diet is very important as well, keep in mind that she should be eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as taking extra fibers to carry out the toxins out of her body. She could also use the Phytogreen by Genestra, which is a high potency, broad spectrum, caffeine-free formula high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and digestive enzymes needed for proper detoxification and optimum nutritional status.

Also, here is a link to our category page called “Indigestion, Gas, Bloating” and recommended supplements:

In addition, making some changes to your diet is key. Focus on adding in alkaline foods to each meal such as vegetables and salads. For the first month, eliminate foods which aggravate your heartburn (i.e. fried foods, refined/processed foods, and sweets). After adding in your enzymes and probiotics, your body will have more tolerance to the foods which use to cause your heartburn.

Will Genestra Endurlyte be better than Gatorade for my marathon training?
Q. I am in training for a marathon; instead of using Gatorade/powerade my naturopath gave me Genestra Endurlyte to drink. Is this going to be enough?

A. Genestra's Endurlyte is definitely much healthier than Gatorade and is a good substitution, but will it be enough to replace gels, etc during your marathon? It depends on how much fuel your body needs during your run.

Once serving size has 12g of sugar via fructose, and you can add as many spoons as you want into your water. You'll have to compare the composition of Endurlyte with the sugars/carbs in your gels and Gatorade. Most likely, if you need gels in addition to Gatorade, you will with Endurlyte as well, but at least you'll be getting a good amount of nutrients and electrolytes which can help improve your performance and recovery during training.

Any suggestion for Vitamin E supplementation when taking high Fish Oil dosage?
Q. I have recently read that when taking high doses of fish oil, vitamin E supplementation is also required. Any suggestions?

A. We do recommend that you take fat soluble antioxidants in conjunction with fish oils since antioxidants help to stabilize all Omega 3 oils including fish oil and flaxseed oil. Omega 3s are very delicate oils which easily go rancid when exposed to heat, and when inside the body the can cause oxidative stress (and aging), thus taking Vitamin E can protect against this as it neutralizes free radicals and protects the oil from oxidizing.

We recommend taking 400 IU of Vitamin E daily such as E400 Emulsified by Genestra.

Why does Genestra Fish Oil products have a rubber stopper under the cap?
Q. I would like to know the purpose of the rubber cork that seals the bottle under the bottle cap for the Super EFA Liquid and other Genestra Fish Oil products.

A. The purpose of the air tight rubber cork is to prevent spillage during transportation and minimize oxygenation and increase preservation of the fish oils. The manufacturer vacuumed out the air from the bottle before it was capped so that no oxygen remained to cause oxidation or rancidity, and thus shelf life is extended. We recommend you keep your fish oils refrigerated when possible, but you may discard the rubber cork unless you'd like to use it as an extra seal during any travels with your oils.

Is Genestra's Digest Plus mainly for those who need help digesting protein?
Q. Is Genestra's Digest Plus mainly for those who need help digesting protein? (The protease level seems high compared to other digestive enzyme complexes on the market.) Also, what is a therapeutic dose for aid in digesting fats and starches?

A. Digest Plus works for people with all types of digestive imbalances. It works on all three- protein, carbohydrates, and fat. It contains more protease for a variety of reasons. In general, protein is the most difficult to digest. As well, protease aids the body in other ways such as blood cleansing and anti-inflammation, since it works on breaking down these blood proteins. Lastly, by helping your body better break down proteins, it has an easier time with the everything else. A therapeutic dose is 1-2 tablets with each meal, either a few minutes before beginning to eat, or during the meal. If you forget, you can also take them after the meal. I suggest you try taking them at various times and different amounts to know what dose works best for you.

What natural product is recommended for Cystic Acne if pregnant?
Q. I was on antibiotics for years and nothing helped. What supplements do you recommend for cystic acne? I am 5 months pregnant.

A. Zinc picolinate, HMF Forte, and Multi EFA will all help you greatly, but you'll need to take them for at least 3 months to see results. This is because these supplements work gently to correct the underlying nutrient deficiencies and hormone imbalance which can cause skin problems.

You can find the list of the recommended products for acne HERE.

In addition, since you have taken antibiotics for so long, they have destroyed your beneficial flora in your body (digestive system and vaginal canal), which further create yeast issues and skin problems.

To speed up her recovery from the antibiotic side effects, you need to take probiotics such as HMF Powder (more economical) or HMF Forte capsules diligently for the next 4 months at double the normal dose.

Probiotics are also extremely beneficial during pregnancy and lactation since the mother’s beneficial bacteria will improve the baby’s immune system and chances of allergies, asthma, and skin problems.

With cystic acne, it is important that you focus on your diet, since unbalanced hormones are most likely one of the main cause, and diet can greatly influence your hormones.

I recommend you focus on balancing your blood sugar, which will help regulate your insulin secretion; in turn will help your cystic acne. In order to balance your blood sugar, you should avoid all processed and refined foods (any food product sold with a bar code including junk food, sweets, breads, pasta), and focus on whole foods such as quality proteins (organic chicken, turkey, fish, lean meat), and a variety of vegetables, salads, nuts, seeds, and fruit.

Homeopathic remedies such as the Chelidonium Plex are taken by adults by shaking the bottle upside down into the mouth lifting the tongue so that approximately 15 drops fall there. Keep the drops in your mouth under the tongue for about 1 minute before swallowing.

Ideally, homeopathics are taken on an empty stomach which means 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after meals. You should avoid gum, mints, or mint toothpaste 1 hour before or after using homeopatics since it weakens their effectiveness.

Would taking Allisyn Garlic at the same time as Probiotics cancel each other?
Q. Do I have to take Allisyn Garlic at a different time than probiotics because they would cancel out? How long does it take for harmful organisms to develop resistances to antimicrobials like garlic?

A. It is not necessary to take Allisyn garlic at a different time than HMF probiotics, since research has shown that garlic only kills off a small percent of the good bacteria. Thus, for convenience and compliance, I recommend you take both together and you will still have large benefit. If you don't find it inconvenient to take the garlic a few hours before the probiotics, you certainly can do this as well.

Research shows that harmful pathogens do not develop resistance to the ingredients in Allisyn (garlic and cinnamon oil) since they attack the sulfur dependent pathways and the various metabolic pathways of the bad bacteria rather than attaching to them or interfering with cell replication. Garlic does not attack our own body's pathways and allows survival of our own cells and flora. Thus, Allisyn can be taken over the long term with no resistance.

The ingredients within Genestra's Candicin (including Oregano and Wormwood) can also safely be taken over the long term with no resistance. This is because Oregano's method of action is via lysis and burning the outer cell of virus or bacteria, not allowing an opportunity for the bacteria to become resistant. Quite differently, antibiotics work by attaching to the bacteria and disrupting replication. Over time, the pathogenic bacteria find ways to avoid being adhered to.

I believe I'm suffering from mercury poisoning, what products can I use for a mercury detox?
Q. I believe I'm suffering from mercury poisoning, what products can I use for a mercury detox?

A.
Symptoms of Mercury poisoning are really dreadful. We just added a section to the Genestra site about Heavy Metal Toxicity which you might want to look over.

Chelation is more specific than detoxification since it describes the action of a chelating agent (i.e. Cysteine, Cilantro, DMAE) binding onto heavy metals in the body in preparation for excretion. There are a few really good herbal and amino acid chelators out there and the products I have listed on the link above are some of them.

Heavy metal detoxification includes several components.

Part 1: Binding the mercuryPart 2: Eliminating the bound mercury located in the GI and kidneys (where it tends to accumulate)
  • Fiber such as Toxin Absorber packets or Herbal Bulk by Genestra (taken once per daily)
  • Kidney support: HKI Renal drops by Genestra (homeopathic) 10 drops twice daily
Part 3: Binding and Eliminating intracellular mercury GSH Reduced Glutathione by Genestra (3 caps per day between meals)

(note: you can substitute this product for Part 1B if your symptoms are not that severe)

Glutathione is incredibly powerful. I have just referenced another book confirming that it is one of the few substances which can get into the cells and support the body during mercury removal.

Each step is important for effective removal since once the mercury is chelated or bound, it needs to be removed from the cells and the GI, not just merely moved to another place in the body (or symptoms could get worse).

Research I reviewed today also discussed the effectiveness of Cilantro, and aminos for binding mercury, and how critical it is to support the kidneys during chelation so that it can be properly removed.

As for your question on symptoms getting better or worse, it could go either way. You may feel better, or you could feel worse for a little while and then much better. If you're not feeling well now, definitely do some kidney and GI support and drink lots of water along with your Toxin Absorber packets to eliminate as much mercury as possible.

You should add in the chelators and supportive agents I recommended above (Part 1, 2, and 3) into your program. When combined with the Kidney support and Toxin Absorber, your body will actively be binding the mercury and then supported for optimal elimination via the GI and kidneys.

If you are interested in testing for mercury and you cannot find a doctor to do a urine challenge (pre and post chelator), I can have a Hair Mineral Analysis done for you if you send in a hair sample. The lab I use will do a complete 10 page report ($120) which will show how much mercury is being released into your tissues. I can give you more information if you're interested. But if you already know you're eliminating mercury from your system, the hair analysis will only confirm this and might not be that helpful unless you are interested in checking for other heavy metals which might be in your system, or mineral imbalances.

What product do you recommend to enhance memory?
Q. I have a strange taste in my mouth in the mornings when I wake up, and I can't remember many things, what products do you recommend?

A. The strange taste in your mouth could be a combination of heavy metals which you need to get out, and a sign you need probiotic supplementation since this would target detoxification of your gastrointestinal tract. When the good flora is missing or out of balance in your GI, some symptoms include bad taste in mouth, white tongue, indigestion, bowel irregularity, and foggy brain.

Thus, in addition to AMD Heavy Metal Detox, I recommend you take HMF Super Powder once or twice daily (or HMF Forte if you prefer capsules). Probiotics help keep your immune system strong and help you detoxify.

Does Allisyn work on either a yeast or bacterial vaginal infections?
Q. Does Allisyn by Genestra work on vaginal infections? I'm not sure if I have a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. I started out with a flora infection with antibiotics. I have been taking HMF Forte by Genestra for a month, as well as the anti-yeast diet.

A. Allisyn is very effective against both bacteria and yeast as it is a broad acting anti-microbial and anti-fungal due to its extra activated garlic and powerful Cinnamaldehyde. It has helped thousands of women with a combination of yeast and bacterial issues.

Allisyn Garlic by Genestra: Take 1 capsule twice daily with meals.

Complete your protocol by taking:
Following Boric Acid Yeast Arrest, use these, once or twice daily—with pantyliner—for at least 3-6 days, more if able.

Also continue to take HMF Probiotics and follow your anti-yeast diet.

Is Allisyn in the BV protocol sulfur-based?
Q. Is Allisyn in the BV protocol sulfur-based?

A. Are you allergic to regular garlic? The components inside Allisyn are just the active constituents of the garlic clove, but not “free elemental sulfur” which is what most people are allergic to when they have Sulfur allergies.

So, assuming you are fine when you eat garlic, you will not be allergic to Allisyn's garlic component since it contains nothing additional besides the extracts of the active constituents inside garlic plus cinnamon bark oil.

Is Allysin odor free & does it have an enteric coating?
Q. Is Allysin by Genestra "odor-free' garlic and does it use a special "enteric" coating coating that allows the capsules to pass throught the stomach and into the intestine?

A. Genestra’s Allisyn garlic cinnamon product is not enteric coated, and intentionally for these reasons:

There is no benefit to enteric coating garlic since garlic’s main active component, allicin, requires fluid such as water and or stomach juices to become activated. Fluids allow the allinase enzyme to convert alliin to allicin (the active component).

The Allisyn product is very carefully prepared by hand peeling the garlic bulbs so as to not activate the allicin, and then freeze dried so to extract the water and ensure no activation. Thus, the only chance it gets to become activated is upon contact with digestive juices and water when ingested. The manufacturer has tested the product to ensure that it is activated at the right time and functional when ingested. This garlic product stands miles apart from other preparations which do not hand peel the bulbs or freeze dry them.

Could you recommend UNDAs for my brother who wants prostate support?
Q. Could you recommend UNDAs for my brother who wants prostate support?

A. Here are the Unda's I'd recommend for your brother and his prostate: Unda 7 and Unda 38

I would also include Unda 48 to help in preventing the potential for cancer in the prostate. This helps push cancer toxins out of the cell and chelates dangerous toxins out of the body.

I recommend he take these 5 drops of each 6 times a day for a week then drop down to 5 drops each 3 times a day or 8 drops twice a day (which ever is easier).

For you, I would recommend these below since you are female and are interested in helping your lymphatic system, if you have other areas of the body that need focused on, please let me know:

Unda 21 and Unda 49

For you:

Take 8 drops of each remedy under the tongue morning and evening
  • Dosed this way, the bottles will last three weeks. The fourth week of the month no remedies are taken. Then there is a re-evaluation.
  • The drops will flow from the bottle when it is at an angle upside down and there is no need to shake the bottle. It is easy to count them if you let them drop in a spoon. You may also place the drops in a small amount of purified water. The water must be cooler than 120 degrees F, or the remedy will be inactivated.
  • Do not mix all the remedies together, either in a spoon or in water. Do each sequentially. You do not have to wait between remedies. Think of it like giving your body information in the form of one sentence after another. You would not understand if you heard three different sentences at the same time.
  • Always take the UNDA Numbers at least 20 minutes away from other foods, medicines, or anything that may leave a residual taste in your mouth, like toothpaste.
  • Always store your UNDA Number remedies away from strong smelling substances. Also avoid strong light and heat, as well as electromagnetic fields such as around computers, cell phones and other electronic equipment.

Which unda's and supplements should I take for constipation?
Q. Which unda's and supplements should I take for constipation?

A. For constipation, I would recommend Unda 1, Unda 3, Unda 6 and Unda 50. 8 drops 3x/day until resolved, then do 8 drops 2x/day until bottles are empty. I do not recommend taking the other Unda's I've recommended at the same time. Use these to correct the constipation, then break for a week before starting the other Unda's.

HMF Intensive probiotic is also important for bowel regularity. If you are constipated, then you are most likely low in good bacteria in your intestinal tract. I would recommend 1 pill twice a day with meals until regularity is established, then 1 pill every day or every other day. After good gut colonization occurs (1-2 months) then go to HMF Forte as a maintenance probiotic.

Additional helpful products:
Phyto Greens Capsules - 3 caps, 3x/day, provides fiber and excellent source of nutrients. It is also available in powder.

Which number(s) of Unda should I take for the beginnings of a cold?
Q. I am getting the beginnings of a cold this morning and I have a very important writer's conference I'm teaching on on Wednesday. What UNDAS should I take to prevent this cold from coming on?

A.
I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well! It seems it is always easy to get sick right before a big event because your stress lowers your immune system function. The Unda's for colds could be as follows:

Unda 2, Unda 5, Unda 15, Unda 37, 5 drops ever hour until feeling better then decrease dose to 3 times a day.

Unda 220 if additional respiratory support is needed or Unda 312 if you have a sore throat.

Also, EC+ Immune Complex, can also be added for additional immune support (4-6 capsules the first few days of feeling sick, then lower the dose to 3-4 caps a day until you are feeling normal, then 1-2 caps for a few more days).

It is also very important to increase liquids and broth-based soups or just homemade broth, I've included our recipe for you!

What supplements do you recommend I take for a weak immune system?
Q. What supplements do you recommend I take for a weak immune system?

A. TIM immune support can to be taken three times daily, 1-2 tablets each time, a total of 3-6 per day. The nutrients are most beneficial when fed to your system periodically.

I would recommmend you take this product until you feel your immune system has restored itself to baseline function. It is targeting repararation of you thymus gland, spleen, and adrenal gland.

Other products worth considering taking simultaneously and longer term that will support your whole body, esp your immune system are:
  1. HMF Super Powder by Genestra: (take 1/2 tsp 1-2 times daily with meals to repair your gut balance, which is critical for optimal immune function. Remember most of the pathogens in our body come through the gut, and if our bacterial army is weak, the immune system must work much harder.)
  2. Phytogreens by Genestra: (Take 1 tbs in water and a little bit of juice and fresh squeezed lime if desired. This is a super green food rich in greens that support your immune function. It is tremendous in balancing your gut, and providing essential nutrients for immune function.)

  2. Amino L-lysine is an amino acid which limits the virus' ability to reproduce-Take 2 caps three times a day.

  4. Super EFA liquid—Use 1 tbs daily to help reduce inflammation, promote healing and immune health.
  5. HMF Probiotics—Use 1 tsp daily to help support immune health.
  6. Nutrition—
Use more coconut milk and oil, which contains anti-viral properties.
Also eliminate chocolate and nuts, which are high in arginine which encourages herpes virus growth.
Eat plenty of organic proteins, green veggies, low sugar fruits like berries, and avocado.

Other than HMF Forte what products do you suggest for Ulcerative Colitis?
Q. I have had Ulcerative Colitis and had a colonostopy where polps were removed. I started taking HMF Forte 418 by Genestra; is there any other products that would be specifically for the large intestine?

A. I would recommend you take HMF Replete instead of HMF Forte. The HMF Replete is much stronger and has more strains shown to specifically target the inflammation from UC. HMF Forte is great, but to be used as a maintenance product for UC.

Another important supplement found to be very helpful is Genestra's Super EFA Liquid fish oils. They need to be taken in large doses (2,000-10,000 mg EPA/DHA) to provide the anti-inflammatory effect you need. I recommend 1-4 teaspoons per day.

Also, you should take two digestive enzymes with every meal. I recommend Genestra's Digest Plus.

Last but not least, stay away from junk food and refined carbohydrates which as you probably know, are at the root of your condition.

I am looking for products to help clear acne on my chest & back. What do you suggest?
Q. I am looking for products to help clear acne on my chest & back. What do you suggest?

A. Skin conditions such as acne arise when there is something wrong on the inside, and Zinc, probiotics, and Omega 3s are very important for skin health since they address the deficiencies and imbalances which often lead to skin problems. These 3 supplements plus the PhytoGreens could make quite a big difference.
  1. Zinc Picolinate by Genestra: Take 1 capsule 3 times daily with mealsLow zinc levels commonly lead to acne and research has shown that supplementation in the range of 50-90mg per day over 2-3 months can cause significant improvement. Zinc also helps regulate hormone production. Teenage boys are well known to have extremely low zinc levels during puberty, and many adults are quite low as well since zinc is not found in many foods and depleted quickly with stress.
  2. HMF Forte probiotics (capsule or powder form as HMF Powder): Probiotics such as HMF Forte are critical for health of the intestines. Low levels of beneficial flora lead to Dysbiosis, yeast, and poor digestion which all contribute significantly to acne and skin problems. Ironically, antibiotics and medications given to people with acne kills off the good bacteria in the intestines which then leads to more acne. Taking probiotics daily is critical for anyone with skin problems.
  3. Multi EFA caps: Take 2 caps twice daily with meals Omega 3s such as Multi EFA caps help reduce inflammation which causes acne. It also nourishes and softens the skin. Omega 3s are very deficient in our diet.
  4. Dietary modification—research shows that women in particular highly benefit from removing or significantly reducing dairy consumption in their diet. Dairy products such as milk and cheese can sometimes be the cause of acne, especially in adults. Other common food sensitivities which can lead to skin conditions is wheat (any product made with white or wheat flour such as cookies, crackers, bread, pasta, cereal).

Do you have a product for painfully dry cracked hand and feet skin?
Q. I have a painful skin condition, in which my skin cracks and bleeds (hands and feet). Do you have any suggestions to remedy this?

A. First and foremost for your cracking hands and feet, you will see dramatic improvement by taking high dose fish oils. My mother and grandmother had a skin condition nearly identical to yours and nothing really helped until they used high dose fish oils plus GLA. The dose and quality of the oil is important.

Here are the products I recommend as well as the doses:
  1. Super EFA Liquid by Genestra—Take 1 Tablespoon twice per day with meals for 1 week, then down to 1 Tablespoon per day for 2-4 weeks or until symptoms improve dramatically.

Maintenance dose for your condition is 1-2 teaspoons per day. You can mix it into applesauce or yogurt, or just take it straight off the spoon and chase it down with any beverage (which is what my husband and I do)
  2. GLA 90 Black Currant Seed Oil— 3 capsules per day (i.e. 1 with each meal) for 1-2 months until symptoms subside, then down to 1 capsule a day for maintenance.
EFAs are critical for skin health and many other health problems, so typically many health parameters improve when our clients go on these essential fatty acids which are greatly lacking in our diet.

How long should I continue Lymphagen Cream as it is helping my boils?
Q. Should I use Lymphagen cream for boils? I get them on my back sometimes. I've used it for 2 days and it has made them less painful.

A. Lymphagen Cream may be helpful for boils by helping increase cellular detoxification. Glad to hear you’re already having some results. I highly recommend you take a look at our skin health program which has been quite successful at reducing the occurrence of boils (as well as acne).

These supplements which include probiotics, omega 3 fatty acids, and zinc, addresses cause of boils which is an internal one stemming from inadequate balance of nutrients and fats, and toxicity within the cells including the gastro intestinal tract.

I recommend you follow this “Skin Health -acne” program since it is designed for boils as well.

Q. What Genestra products are good for eczema and dermatitis?

A. One of the most effective treatments for eczema is to take Super EFA Plus. You will want to begin with at least 1 Tbsp. and move to 2 Tbsp.(in split doses) daily within a week or two.

Also, eczema is related to food intolerances so it is important for you to control for good GI health. You can take HMF probiotics and also highly consider eliminating dairy (casein) and wheat (gluten).

HMF Intensive by Genestra: Take 1 capsule with each meal.

Or HMF Neuro since it helps break down gluten and casein.

My 8 mo baby has Eczema and nothing topical is working. Please help!
Q. My 8-month-old baby has Eczema and I have tried everything topical: Shea Butter, Calendula Lotion & Ointment, Garderners Dream Cream, Prevex, Hydrocortisone Cream. Nothing is working. Please help!

A. Did you start your baby on formula or begin including dairy, wheat or soy in her diet? These particular foods are often responsible for eczema. If you have not already, remove all of these foods—dairy, gluten (found in wheat, oats, rye, barley, etc.), and soy. Stick with just vegetables, fruits, and basic meat like chicken, beef (if introduced already), and fats. If breastfeeding, continue and remove those allergenic foods from your diet. If on formula, switch to something free of the allergens. Additionally, begin probiotics and fish oils immediately (for you and your baby).
  • HMF Probiotics — These are human grade probiotics, and will help restore better intestinal health. If she was not breast-fed, or for long, she is deficient in these. Give her 1 capsule, twice daily mixed in with fluids or food.
  • Super EFA liquid — This is a pure and healthy source of omega-3s important to reverse inflammation and nourish the skin. Give 1/2 tsp daily.
Also reduce any and all sugars, from juice, rice etc. If she has yeast, this will antagonize the problem. Try introducing avocado, coconut oil and organic butter to cook veggies to add more calories. Babies need more fats than carbohydrates at this time. You can use sweet potato, squash, brown rice, broccoli, asparagus, as well as pureed chicken brown rice soup with carrots, turkey and avocado, brown rice pasta with meat, apples stewed in butter or coconut oil, etc.

Can you suggest any product that would be effective in treating rosacea?
Q. Can you suggest any product that would be effective in treating rosacea?

A. Rosacea is best treated with healing the intestinal tract. I have dealt with is myself for years. Traditional doctors usually start patients out on tetracycline to kill negative bacteria in the intestinal tract, this usually improves rosacea in the short term but can cause other problems, such as yeast overgrowth.

These are some products (with links) I would recommend you try instead if you would like to try a more natural way to improve it:
  • Allisyn Garlic by Genestra (USA / CANADA) - Take one capsule two times daily with meals for 3 weeks then break - this will help kill the negative bacteria in the intestinal tract
  • HMF Intensive by Genestra (USA / CANADA) - Take one capsule two times daily with meals for 6 weeks, you'll need 3 boxes. this will help repopulate the gut with good bacteria. This is important for good gut health, and these are excellent quality probiotics.
  • HMF Forte (USA / CANADA) - you could switch to this after taking the HMF Intensive for 6 weeks. This is a maintenance product you can use to keep the intestinal tract well colonized. Take 1-2 caps daily with meals.
  • Digest Plus (USA / CANADA) - helps with digestion. People who develop roseaca often have poor digestion, which can be improved with this digestive supplement. This will help improve your assimilation of food and nutrients.
  • Liquid B Complex (USA / CANADA) - additional B vitamins are also helpful in improving this condition. I would recommend taking this for a while, at least until you get the rosacea under control.
I also recommend using non-irritating facial washes and creams. This Calendula Cream
(USA / CANADA) may be helpful to use topically.

My doctor recommends Seroyal products. Which one is best for Osteopenia?
Q. A doctor told me that Seroyal supplements are the best products to take. Which Seroyal supplements do you recommend for Osteopenia?

A. Seroyal is a great line of supplements. You were well advised by your practitioner.

For your Osteopenia and bone health concerns, I highly recommend you get your Vitamin D levels checked via the “25(OH)D assay”, not the 1,25(OH)2

Depending on how low your levels are, you may need to take a 2 month course of high levels of vitamin D3 (up to 50,000 IU) which is critical for absorption of minerals into the bones. You’ll need to purchase a straight Vitamin D3 product at your local health food store since Seroyal does not make one.

Once your Vitamin D levels are adequate, you will need to take a maintenance dose of 2,000 IU per day. But without adequate Vit D levels in your system, you will simply not absorb the mineral supplements you are consuming.

You can read more about the critical importance of Vitamin D on this page below including a book I highly recommend you read by Dr. Holick “The UV Advantage”. His groundbreaking research and discoveries on bone health are remarkable.

In addition, I recommend you use Multi Cal Mag Liquid by Genestra which contains Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D, and numerous minerals including copper for bone strength. (take 3 Tablespoons per day)

Or if you prefer tablets, Multi Cal Mag tablets, take 2 tablets twice daily.

I don’t recommend you use Magnelevures since it’s more of a nervous system support formula, not a bone support formula like the others I’ve listed.

I alternate working night and day shifts and I'm looking for a natural sleep aid.
Q. Do you have a sleeping pill or agent that would help me since I work at night twelve hours per shift. Two days, then two nights.

A.
Working an irregular schedule is always a challenge to the body. If your health is truly suffering, I encourage you to rearrange your schedule as soon as possible, if this is an option.

For now, here are a couple of supplements that can help you relax when you get home:
Herbal Calm, by Genestra is an herbal combination of some very relaxing herbs and wild yam, which is hormone balancing. Take 1-3 1/2 before bedtime.

Magnelevures is a nervous system relaxant containing primarily magnesium and some B-vitamin and taurine. I really enjoy this to relax. Just mix one packet with water, tastes very nice, orange flavored.

In addition, you can purchase melatonin at any drug store and it helps reset your wake/sleep cycle. Just take 1mg (or try using just 1/2) of melatonin 15 minutes before going to bed, and make sure your room is dark.

What sleep aid can you suggest that will not effect my thyroid function?
Q. I have been suffering from chronic insomnia for a year and a half. It could be related to food allergy as I am gluten intolerant, or menopause, or anxiety, or all three. Is it possible to take any sleep aid, prescription or natural, without effecting thyroid function?

A. As related to gluten intolerance, try HMF Neuro to help breakdown any gluten byproducts, and to restore your GI. It contains both healthy bacteria (acidophilus and bifidus) as well as L-glutamine for GI repair. As your GI improves, your body will be better able to manufacture neurotransmitters which will also help with anxiety.

I also suggest you try Magnelevures at night. It is a magnesium supplement which is very effective in anxiety reduction and in promoting restful sleep.

The third consideration I would recommend is Dioscorea Cream, which is natural progesterone. It would positively influence your hormone levels since progesterone is a building block for many hormones. You may consider reading, What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Menopause, By Dr. Lee, MD. It is an excellent guide to naturally restoring healthy hormone levels.

I am considering Digest Plus but have problems with tablets, any suggestion?
Q. I am considering the Digest Plus by Genstra, but often have problems with tablets. Also, what do you recommend for heartburn?

A. Digest Plus tablets by Genestra can be crushed. Here is the link to the product: But Genestra makes a chewable enzyme tablet which you might be interested in. Click here to read more information about it: BioEnzymes by Genestra

Also, here is a link to our category page called “Indigestion, Gas, Bloating” and recommended supplements:

For your heartburn, I recommend you take 1 enzyme tablet before each meal and ¼ tsp of HMF Powder probiotic after each meal for the first month. As symptoms disappear, you can reduce your dose. You should see big improvements within the first week!

Looking for a natural product for IBS. Would Digest Plus by Genestra help?
Q. My husband has been Suffering for years with IBS. A friend has suggested that he try "Digest Plus" by Genestra. Do you agree with this or do you have another suggestion? General Practitioners seem to want to use "drugs" to ease the symptoms, but we are willing to try something more natural.

A.
I am confident his IBS can be improved or reversed as I have seen with many sufferers. Digest Plus is a good supplement to help with IBS. However, the most important place to begin is by changing over his bacterial balance in his gut to more friendly helpful bacteria versus the antagonistic ones which currently populate his gut.
  • HMF Intensive Probiotics: Take this for at least 20-30 days, 1 capsule with each meal totaling 3 capsules daily. After this period, progress to a less potent version called HMF Forte or Super Powder.
The other critically important initial supplement is Omega-3 fatty acids, taken in the form of Super EFA Liquid Plus by Genestra. These essential fatty acids will bring down the inflammation in his gut, and allow it to repair.
  • Super EFA Liquid Plus, by Genestra: Take 1 TBS daily off a spoon or mixed into a smoothie.
It is possible he may need some additional support in the form of plant antimicrobials, amino acids and/or enzymes. Consult back with me in 1 month to help you determine the next phase of his treatment plan. Also he should be limiting his sugar, gluten (found in bread, pasta, wheat products, etc), dairy, and soy. Focus on whole foods such as naturally raised anti-biotic free meat, poultry, eggs, butter, nuts, vegetables, squash, brown/wild rice, low sugar fruits, olive oil, some legumes, etc.

HMF Forte has helped my IBS, anything else suggested for gas and bloating?
Q. I have IBS along with excessive gas and bloating all day whether I eat or not. Taking HMF Forte has helped in the past. What do you recommend I take to get rid of my problem?

A.
Typically IBS symptoms are a result of a severe bacterial imbalance brought on by both problematic foods, and emotional stress. Because of the imbalance, inflammation and breakdown of the gut tissue can result. To restore your gut health I recommend probiotics, fish oils, a plant antimicrobial, and at least one other supplement containing glutamine. We have excellent products which I've listed below.

In addition, I recommend a major cut-back or elimination of food antagonists. Typical problematic foods which affect most people are wheat/gluten, dairy and soy. There may be other foods which irritate you. If so, you should also eliminate these. Also add therapeutic foods such as coconut oil, organic butter, garlic, oregano, and macadamia nuts. Focus on foods like organic meat, fish, eggs, etc, lots of veggies and low sugar fruits like berries, and healthy fats like avocado, nuts, olive oil and butter, etc. Below I will list the supplements to help.
  • HMF Intensive: You should replace HMF Super Powder with this since this one is FOS free. FOS are tiny sugars which feed bacteria. They are useful ONCE YOUR GOOD BACTERIA ARE ESTABLISHED. Before this transition occurs, FOS can cause excessive gas and bloating as it feeds the bad bacteria. Take 1 cap of Intensive probiotics with each meal. After 3-4 weeks, you may be able to transition back to HMF Super Powder, and take 2-3 tsp. daily.
  • Super EFA Liquid: This fish oil is rich in omega-3s and free of toxins. Omega-3s will help reduce inflammation and promote healing in your gut. You can get more omega-3s from free range meats and eggs and walnuts. Take approx. 1 TBS. daily in a smoothie or from a spoon. It tastes orangy.
  • Allisyn: This is a anti-microbial to help kill some of the current bad bacteria. Allicillin in garlic and cinnamon bark oil are the active ingredients which are potent anti-biotics which also spare good bacteria. They are much "smarter" than mainstream pharmaceutical antibiotics which kill everything. Take 1 twice daily with meals.
  • Amino L-glutamine: This is an amino acid needed for gut tissue healing. It helps so many people! Take a total of 6 caps daily, preferably on an empty stomach. You can split it up to 2 caps, three times a day, 15-30 minutes before meals.

What supplement can I take to Alkalize my system? Is Endurlyte a good choice?
Q. What supplement can I take to Alkalize my system? Is Endurlyte a good choice?

A. Endurlyte is in fact alkalizing, as it contains qualitative amounts of minerals such as magnesium and calcium. Calcium is the mineral needed in the largest quantities for alkalinization/maintenance of a healthy pH balance. However, calcium from dairy is controversial as to whether it creates an overall net alkalizing effect on the body. In fact the most convincing research shows that the calcium in milk in not bioavailable because the calcium provided by milk (for example), is immediately consumed in alkalinizing the acids formed by the milk. The best sources of bioavailable minerals (including calcium) is green foods and nuts.

Additionally I recommend taking Phyto Greens by Genestra. Use 1-2 TBS daily to aid in alkalinizing your blood and intestinal system.

What can I use for a Mercury detox?
Q. I believe I'm suffering from mecury poisoning, what products can I use for a mecury detox?

A. Symptoms of Mercury poisoning are really dreadful. We just added a section to the Genestra site about Heavy Metal Toxicity in our website.

What products do you recommend to combat H.pylori virus?
Q. I live in Canada and I have tried many antibiotics, what products do you recommend to combat H.pylori virus?

A.
After all these aggressive anti-biotics, the first thing you need to do immediately is replenish the beneficial bacteria (probiotics) in your gastrointestinal tract and body. Those antibiotics have killed off all the good bacteria which in turn causes you to feel awful with low quality of life.

The good news is we can ship you any Genestra products to Canada since our distributor is in Toronto. You will pay only $11.95 US Dollars for shipping, and no duties or taxes.

There are clearly many things you can be taking since your history is a complex one, but here is what I recommend you start with:

HMF Replete powder: (aggressive probiotic re-implantation) Take 1/2 packet twice daily for 2-4 weeks, after meals.
HMF Intensive caps: (aggressive probiotic maintenance) Take 1 capsule twice daily for the next 4 weeks, along with 1 packet HMF Replete powder one day per week, after meals (or you have the option to continue with HMF Replete powder 1/2 packet per day if you prefer the powder).
HMF Candigen suppositories: (probiotic suppositories for vaginal health). Insert 1 per night before bed for 1-2 weeks, or as needed for itching, discharge, or discomfort.

Although the Candicin product is excellent choice to safely treat H.pylori, I think your H.pylori may be gone by now after the many months of antibiotic treatment? If not, you can add it to your program, taking it at a separate time from your probiotics. (i.e. 4 hours later since the two can cancel each other out when taken together)

Labels:

Is Candicin successful in getting rid of H.pylori bacteria, or is it more for yeast?
Q. Is the Candicin quite successful in getting rid of H.pylori bacteria, or is it more for yeast? Or,could yeast also be an underlying factor in not being able to get rid of the bacteria?

A.
The Candicin can be quite successful at getting rid of H-Pylori since it contains several compounds which can kill it, but you will need to be very aggressive with it and consider adding extra oil of oregano to your program if it isn't gone within a month.

My doctor put my 4 yo on HMF powder that helps. How long should he take it?
Q. Is it OK for a 4 year old to take Genestra HMF powder for extended periods of time? My doctor put him on it for eczema and I think it helps.

A.
The HMF powder from Genestra is safe to be taken for a long period of time, even for a 4 year old. I take it myself everyday. You can order or read more about the ingredients and benefits here HMF Powder.

Do you offer a Probiotic program for my 12 yo with Crohn's disease?
Q. Which probiotics do you recommend for my 12 yr old son, who has Crohn's disease?I am also reading "The Maker's Diet,"is the probiotic they recommend good? Do you have a program for Crohn's disease?

A.
We are familiar with “The Makers Diet” and their recommended probiotics Primal Defense (PD). The Primal Defense is very different from the HMF Super Powder. It does not contain the researched strains of beneficial bacteria and there is some controversy in the nutrition industry as to the benefit of PD organisms. Some practitioners have warned us against using PD for people who have very compromised GI function since it could actually do some harm. Others have found PD to be quite helpful.

The strains in HMF products are not Soil Organisms (HSOs) such as the ones in PD. Instead, HMF is Human Micro Flora which have been isolated from a healthy woman and replicated in the lab. Thus, all the organisms in HMF naturally exist in the GI tract and they implant quite well because the body recognizes them as "self". The human strains in HMF have been extensively researched over the last 10 years and shown to adhere quite well.

Yes, we do have a nutritional program for Crohn's diasease. Please, visit our Crohn's disease program.

Another great supplement that your son would benefit from is the Super EFA Liquid by Genestra.

Can Digest Plus by Genestra be taken crushed as I cannot take tablets?
Q. I am considering the Digest Plus by Genstra, but often have problems with tablets. Can they be crushed? Also, what do you recommend for heartburn?

A. Digest Plus tablets by Genestra can be crushed. But Genestra makes a chewable enzyme tablet which you might be interested in.

Can you suggest a non allergenic Zinc & Vitamin C product for my toddler?
Q. I am looking for a Zinc and Vitamin C supplement for my toddler who is 26 months old, weighs 27 lbs. She is intolerant to a large number of foods, foremost dairy, soy, wheat/gluten/any grains, rice, orange, strawberry, chicken, corn. She received penicillin in utero, as I was GBS positive. Her other health issue has been severe reflux. Could you please tell me which of your products would be appropriate for her?

A. Based on the multitude of food allergies your young daughter has and what this indicates, I have some suggestions which could greatly help her. Most importantly, she needs to begin taking healthy bacteria (aka probiotics). I suspect that due to the heavy antibiotics, she has gut inflammation and breakdown.

To heal, she will need:
  • HMF Intensive Probiotics: 1 capsule opened and mixed into food twice daily.
  • Amino L-glutamine (necessary for GI healing): Take 2 capsules opened mixed in water if possible on an empty stomach once daily.
  • Berry EFA Plus: Take 1 tsp twice daily (can mix other two powders into this). These essential fatty acids will help reduce the level of inflammation in her gut to allow it to heal. And they taste great for kids.
and lastly,
  • Gammadyn Zn: Take 1 ampoule per day. Administer ampoule under the tongue and wait one minute before swallowing. This is important because zinc is needed for healing her gut and also for hundreds of other body functions.
I suggest beginning with this protocol because in order for your daughter to be well nourished and healthy, her gut needs to function better. This protocol will enable that to happen. Otherwise, even nutrients administered via supplements will only partially be absorbed. One her gut is healed, food allergies will improve and she'll be able to absorb vitamin mineral supplements better.

Can you suggest a tasty product for a 4 yo that might have worms?
Q. Would you mind recommending some tasteful remedies for my 4 1/2 year old, I think she may have some sort of worms?

A. You can ask your doctor to do a stool analysis to verify that your daughter, does in fact, has worms.

Please, see below the recommended products for worms or parasites:
Candicin by Genestra
Berberis Formula by Genestra
Black Walnut by Genestra
Unda 17

I understand your concern about the taste of the products. You can give her the Unda 17 mixed with a little bit of water; it doesn't really have a taste. I believe drops will be easier for this age, if she is not able to swallow capsules yet.

You can also use the Black Walnut by Genestra or mix the Berberis Formula by Genestra with some juice.

What remedy can one use for a 6 year old child who bed wets?
Q. What remedy can one use for a 6 year old child who bed wets?

A. Bed wetting is not uncommon for young kids, yet we don't know for sure why it occurs. Some of the possible causes include food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, stress/psychological problems, bladder infections, and drinking too much liquid before bed. It could be a combination of multiple factors. Here are some nutritional suggestions which may help.

Remove common food allergens—wheat-gluten, soy and dairy. If you need help with meal planning, I am available for a consultation. Also begin your child on a probiotic called HMF Neuro, by Genestra. HMF Neuro has special bacterial strains to help better break down gluten and casein. If your child does in fact have food allergies/sensitivities, this probiotic will lessen the problem. And regardless of food allergies, it is extremely helpful to help your child absorb more nutrients from diet. Take 1 capsule, 2 times a day with food (or the powder form).

Amino Acid Complex by Genestra—this is a targeted protein supplement to help strengthen the bladder muscle. I recommend 3 capsules daily, in divided doses if you can.

Cal Mag Liquid 2 by Genestra—this is a tasty liquid which will provide your child with some additional calcium and magnesium needed to relieve muscle spasms which may be contributing to the problem. Additionally, both minerals are involved in brain function and stress reduction. 1 tsp twice a day.

Cranberry Plus by Genestra—to help ensure a bladder infection is not a contributory factor, have him/her take 1 cap twice daily. If he/she cannot swallow the caps, consider either opening and mixing in water/juice, or let them drink pure cranberry juice—¼ cup daily.

Other tips: No fluids or Popsicles, jello, etc. before bed—reduce fluids after 6 pm. Get more fluids early in the day.

Is there a homeopathic product to remove toxins from baby vaccinations?
Q. I have a 6-week old baby and my pediatrician wants to vaccinate at 2 months and I don't. I want to delay vaccinations as much as possible and separate them out. If I do decide to vaccinate, I'd like to give him some homeopathic remedies to remove the toxins from his body. Any suggestions?

A. You do have the right as a parent to choose to delay and spread out the vaccines or refuse them altogether. Here are some supplement and homeopathic recommendations to help your baby get through the vaccinations.

Homeopathics:These are good for drainage of toxins from vaccines for babies. Use one drop of each 3 times/day directly into the mouth. Give a few days before vaccines & continue for 1 month afterward. These homeopathics last for a long time, so are good to keep on hand for each period a vaccine given.

Supplements:
  • Chlorgen - 1/2 tablet crushed 2 times a day for 1 month after vaccines, but can be ongoing. You could mix it with some applesauce or other baby food. Chlorella is good at binding metals and detox, as well as providing additional nutrients to his diet.
  • HMF Natogen - Can be mixed into food or bottle 2-3 times daily. Dose is apx what can stick to tip of your finger. This is an infant probiotic that is helpful for overall immune function.
  • Cod Liver Oil - 1/2 teaspoon, 1 time a day. Helps nervous system function, as well as immune response.
All of these supplements recommended here can be used on-going for supporting overall immune function and health.

Will HMF Replete, HMF Forte, & Phyto Green help get rid of my infection?
Q. I am on medication for a bacterial infection. Are HMF Replete, HMF Forte, and Phyto Green good products to help me get rid of the infection and for maintenance?

A. Yes, the HMF Replete, HMF Forte, and PhytoGreens are excellent products to use to during and post antibiotic use, as well as for maintenance.

You may also consider ordering Allisyn which is a natural antibiotic. It can be taken once daily to prevent infections, or 2 caps three times per day to treat an active infection including stomach bugs, and a variety of bacterial infections.

Can I take HMF Super Powder for BV during my period or wait until it's over?
Q. Is it safe to take the HMF Super Powder when I have my period, or would it be more effective if I wait until it's over to treat BV?

A. It is completely safe to take HMF Super Powder during your period. I assume you are taking these High Potency capsules orally and not using them as suppositories? Taken orally, the beneficial bacteria will implant in your digestive system and vaginal canal regardless of your monthly cycle.

You may also want to look into the accompanying product CandiGen suppositories, which specifically help repair and heal the vaginal canal.

This product does work optimally when used on non-period days since it’s a suppository and can get flushed out more easily with a heavy menstrual flow.

What do you suggest for allergies that cause bronchial issues?
Q. I have issues with food allergies, which I am careful to avoid triggering. They have caused my bronchial issue since about 1973 so am surprised to find that after moving to Toronto from Santa Monica, California and living here for a month, this issue has surfaced. What supplements do you recommend?

A. Moving to a new area will expose you to airborne things your body isn't accustom too, and sometimes it takes a while for your body to learn to handle these new dusts and pollens. You should consider both homeopathic products I listed below to help alleviate your allergy problems. They have different ingredients and seem to be helpful for several different processes that are important to address in alleviating your symptoms. (USA links are shown next to product as USA)
  • Aller-gen by Genestra - (USA) exerts its effects by stimulating the adrenocortical and natural defense systems to neutralize the allergic complexes and modulate the histamine response.
  • Allergiplex by Unda - (USA) is indicated for allergies caused by all airborne (inhalant) allergens, allergic rhinitis and hayfever. Nasal discharge, nasal edema, sneezing, lacrimation and difficulty breathing are the common symptoms found in allergy sufferers. Allergiplex works at the onset of these symptoms as well as preventatively when taken prior to the allergy season.
Additionally, since you mentioned you have food allergies, we do have a probiotic that could be very helpful as well to improve the health of your intestinal tract. The probiotic I am providing a link to is very beneficial for those that have sensitivities to gluten and dairy, as well as providing good organisms for the GI tract. When the GI tract is out of balance with these organisms, more allergies and other intestinal problems can result. Probiotics have also been shown to help improve the bodies natural immune system.
  • HMF Neuro - (USA) take 1 with a meal twice a day for several weeks, then reduce down to one a day for maintenance. It is great to take this long-term if you can.
Also, Fish oil can be helpful to reduce the inflammation in the body, however, for older people I do not recommend Cod Liver Oil because of the vitamin A content, older people tend to store vitamin A in the liver, and if you are getting plenty through diet and vitamins, Cod Liver Oil is not a good idea. I will provide you a link to another fish oil you can try, it is a high quality fish oil and the taste is very acceptable.
  • Super EFA Liquid by Genestra - (USA) this is a high potency fish oil, and a great one to start with to help lower inflammation and improve the brochial support. You may want to go to a lower dose fish oil later, but I would recommend this for now, at 2 tsp a day for 1 week then lower to 1 tsp a day. You can mix this with a little OJ if you like.
I would recommend you try all these for a while and if you are still having breathing difficulties after a few weeks, please let me know, we may want to try some different homeopathic remedies that are more specific to the lungs.

Prevention of Swine Flu with Muco-Coccinum
Q. Is Muco Coccinum effective for prevention of the Swine Flu? Also I have allergies which give me with a chronic cough. Which supplement would help with that?

A. The Muco Coccinum helps to elevate the bodies immune response to any flu. The company makes no claim that it will prevent the Swine Flu, but that is could help the body better respond to an infection of the flu.

At the first sign of symptoms, take one tablet allowing it to dissolve under the tongue. If symptoms persist, take one tablet two or three times during the day. If symptoms continue to persist after three days, discontinue use and seek advice from a health care practitioner.

Preventatively
: Muco Coccinum® 200 may be prescribed right from the beginning of the autumn season, with one tablet to be taken every 15 days.
For particularly sensitive individuals (children and the elderly):
1 tablet per week throughout the winter season.

For your chronic cough associated with allergies, I would recommend working on improving your bodies reactivity to the things you are allergic to. Here are some suggestions to try. Sometimes one may work better than the other, so if choice #1 doesn't work as well as you'd like, then try choice #2.
Keep in mind, we can also work with the Unda line using 2-4 remedies at once, but you might want to try one of these suggestions first.

Can you recommend a program/products to help me recover from adrenal/chronic fatigue?
Q. Can you recommend a program/products to help me recover from adrenal/chronic fatigue?

A. Here is a basic program for adrenal health and chronic fatigue:
It includes one herbal/nutrient blend (GSF Adrenal), 2 B-vitamin supplements, omega-3s (Super EFA Liquid Plus), and one homeopathic (Ribes Nigrum) which is highly effective at nourishing the adrenals. Also included are dietary and lifestyle recommendations, which work hand in hand with these nutrients, herbs, and homeopathic remedies.

GSF Adrenatex – 2 caps twice daily with meals
Ribes Nigrum – ½ tsp 3 times a day anytime
Pantothenic Acid – 1 capsule twice daily with meals
Liquid B Complex – 1 tsp twice daily (take with Pantothenic acid) with meals
Super EFA Liquid Plus – 1 tsp daily with meals

Causes of Adrenal Fatigue
Chronic stress and a poor diet are commonly the culprits. The combination of work and family pressure, illness, sleep deprivation, psychological and emotional issues, having children, moving, excessive exercise, death in the family, changing jobs, and marital disharmony can all contribute to chronic stress which weaken the adrenal glands. In addition, a poor diet including sugar, caffeine, and refined foods further weaken the adrenal glands. Fatigue occurs when the amount of stress overextends the capacity of the body to compensate and recover.

Lifestyle Recommendations
  • Avoid stress and extra obligations.
  • Get regular exercise such as walking, yoga, tai chi, and pilates.
  • Avoid corticosteroids and NSAIDS (if possible).
  • Resolve emotional issues.
Dietary Recommendations
  • Avoid wheat flour and dairy products.
  • Avoid sugar and hydrogenated oils.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption and caffeine.
  • Avoid refined and processed foods.
  • Avoid refined oils such as safflower, sunflower, corn and soybean oil.
  • Eat omega 3 anti-inflammatory foods such as salmon, mackerel and tuna.
  • Consume green drinks or fresh vegetable juices.
  • Helpful teas: chamomile, green tea, slippery elm.

What is a good breakfast to eat on a yeast elimination program?
Q. Can you suggest a safe breakfast since I'm on the yeast elimination program? In the past I ate a pastry sandwich w/ coffee—I know I can't do that now. I want to eliminate dairy from my diet so I can't eat yogurt and granola.

A. Here is one of my favorite candida safe breakfast called an "egg bake". Simply sauté unlimited veggies—broccoli, asparagus, red pepper, onion, garlic, zucchini, etc. Then add it and about 12 mixed organic eggs to a glass baking tray and bake for about 30 minutes at 350 or until firm. Then cut into 4 or 5 pieces, and refrigerate for a quick easy breakfast on the go. Can serve with salsa, avocado, organic ham, salmon, etc.

If you have further meal planning needs, I can put together a complete weekly program. Consider purchasing a block of time at our website.

I noticed that HMF Replete is for 7 - 14 days only. What should I use after the 14 days?
Q. I noticed that HMF Replete is for 7 - 14 days only. What should I use after the 14 days?

A. The HMF Replete can be used for as long as you want. But one box only lasts for 7-14 days depending on if you take ½ packet once or twice daily.

If your stool culture showed no beneficial bacteria, I recommend you first use HMF Intensive for 10 days (1 capsule 3 times daily), then move on to the HMF Replete for at least 14 days (2 boxes) using ½ packet twice daily. As a maintenance dose you can either use the HMF Forte capsules, or if you prefer to use powder, the HMF Super Powder. All these HMF probiotics last 2 years at 100% potency if kept in the freezer. So you can order as much as you need and use it up gradually over the next couple months.

In addition to the probiotics, you should take Allisyn (garlic & cinnamon oil) which has powerful anti-Candida properties. For the first month, take 1 at the start of each meal (3 per day), then take 1 per day thereafter. It’s a good idea to take one daily for the long term, especially since you have a tendency to get Candida overgrowth and it will help prevent re-occurrence.

If your Candida is vaginal as well, I highly recommend the HMF Candigen probiotics suppositories

Please read our complete Candida nutritional protocol.

How long should it take a yeast arrest suppository to absorb?
Q. I went to insert my second Yeast Arrest suppository in the evening I realized that the one from the morning was still there and had not really been absorbed. How long does it take for your body to absorb it?

A. If the first Yeast Arrest has not dissolved, then you do not need to insert a second one in the evening (although some women use 2 at a time depending on severity of symptoms). Some women's bodies will break it down faster than others. It has to do with body heat, pH, and how active you are during the time it's inside.

Typically, you'll know it's time to insert a new one when parts of the first one has come out into your pantyliner. Don't be afraid to leave one in there. The capsules and contents do completely dissolve and come out into your liner over 12-24 hours. The vaginal walls are very efficient at sloughing off layers and keeping itself clean.

Are vaginal suppositories effective if inserted during my period?
Q. Is it true that I should insert vaginal suppositories when I'm not menstruating because otherwise, the blood would just saturate the product and cause it not to be as effective?

A. The Yeast Arrest Boric Acid suppositories and the HMF Candigen suppositories can and should be used during your menses since the pH of the vagina becomes more alkaline during your period from the blood, and BV seems to flourish in an alkaline vagina allowing symptoms to return. Thus, it seems very important to balnace the pH of the vagina. Although the suppository does not stay in as well or as long during menstruation, it definitely does help.

One of my clients with severe and reoccurring yeast infections uses it during her periods and says it has helped her tremendously. She usually gets a yeast infection right after her period, but the times she has used boric acid during menstruation she has prevented them.

What is your opinion on using a Tampon after inserting a suppository?
Q. I'm using the CandiGen suppositories at night; should I use a tampon to keep it inside longer?...or would a tampon absorb the substance, making it is less effective?

A. It is best to insert the HMF CandiGen suppositories right before bed so you are laying down, but I do not recommend using a tampon. Tampons are problematic in and of themselves with those toxins inside, and they can further irritate your vaginal canal.

It is normal for the suppository to melt and as it melts, millions of acidophilus strains are implanting to your cells. A little liquid will run out in the morning or during the night, but the suppository is quite concentrated so you’ll be getting all the benefits. Some women even use it during the day and just those couple hours that it stays in before it melts can be quite helpful.

My Naturapath has me on HMF Powder. Is constipation a side effect?
Q. My Naturopath recommended HMF Powder for suspected yeast, Candida and flora balance. Is constipation one of the sides effects of the HMF Powder?

A. I've been using and recommending HMF probiotics for over 4 years, and I have never heard of constipation as a reaction to taking the product. Quite the opposite seems to be true as HMF Powder is often indicated for constipation. Please do let us know if you get this reaction since we have not had a client mention this.

Will your Candida protocol help my gut/candida?
Q. Will your Candida protocol help my gut/candida?

A. The protocol will definitely help your Candida, but you need to be diligent with the program and take the products daily for 1-4 months to really rebuild your flora, then you’ll need to stay on a good maintenance dose for at least a year. Your diet is also very important as the Candida protocol on the site discussed.

What caused your Candida? Were you on antibiotics or a medication for a long time? Did you have parasites? Either of these can cause such severe depletion of beneficial bacteria that it can sometimes take over a year to rebuild with aggressive supplementation. Those who don’t take probiotics often never completely recover. Your body as a whole has to heal, so you need to treat it well with healthy food, exercise, rest, and the nourishing supplements to rebuild your GI.

Is it true that acidopholous inserts will help yeast infection & not BV?
Q. I spoke to my gyn doctor today about the acidopholous vaginal inserts, and he said that it might help with a yeast infection and not BV. Is that true?

A. I understand your confusion about the product names since they imply they are for yeast issues, but I can assure you that they are extremely effective for combating BV. In fact, more women use them for BV than for Candida. If I could get the manufacturer to change the product name, it would solve a lot of confusion, but they decided on these names in order to target a different market. What is most important to look into is the ingredients and not the product name.

I encourage you to read the testimonials since they speak for themselves on the benefits of these products. Please take a look through our patient testimonials and feedback.

Is Genestra's Phyto Greens safe for a pregnant woman?
Q. Is Genestra's Phyto Greens safe for a pregnant woman?

A. While Genestra recommends Phyto Greens for pregnant and lactating, we also advise women not to exceed this amount and also to use with caution if you have a history or current problem with toxicity. Signs of toxicity are bad breath, body odor, headaches, body pains, and unexplained fatigue. If toxic, Phyto Greens will help detoxify, a positive thing, unless pregnant. We don't want extra toxins going into a pregnant woman's bloodstream, as it can pass into the uterus. If you are very healthy and eat fairly healthily, i.e. lots of veggies and low processed food, then it is fine to take Phyto Greens, within the recommended dose.

Also, since you are prenatal or close, consider taking HMF Super Powder, Neurogen DHA, and Super Matragen Multivitamin.

HMF Super Powder: This is good bacteria for your gut, needed to maximize absorption of nutrients and protect against vaginal yeast during delivery.

Super Matragen: This is an excellent multivitamin, needed to support the high nutritional needs of a pregnant woman.

Neurogen DHA: DHA is an essential fatty acid needed for baby's brain development. It will also help protect you against post-partum depression. Take 3 a day. All of these are good to take for weeks or months before conception and after, as they help build a strong foundation for healthy fetal development.

I need info on nutritional need during each trimester as well as post natal.
Q. Can you offer me information on nutritional needs of a pregnant women starting from first trimester to after delivery. Also, are there products that I should take to support my body after delivery?

A. Congratulations on your pregnancy! There are certainly some nutritional supplements I recommend for pregnancy, and following. Throughout your pregnancy, your body will continue to prioritize your baby over your needs, which often leaves women very depleted afterward. That is why many women's health breaks down initially following delivery. To maintain your health and to promote your baby's development, take:
  • Maxum Matragen: (Take 2 capsules twice daily)
  • Super DHA Liquid: This is a DHA rich fatty acid, versus the standard EPA-DHA. DHA is the most critical nutrient for your baby's brain development, and often, mom gets robbed of it to support the baby's development.
    Take 1 tsp daily.
  • HMF Super Powder: This will improve your nutrient absorption and prevent vaginal yeast problems to promote a healthier delivery.
All of these supplements should be continued for an additional 2-3 months or through breastfeeding.

Q. I am battling nipple yeast and my 2 mos. old has thrush in his mouth. What do you recommend?

A. According to our technical advisor at Seroyal, it would be best that you first use the HMF Super powder orally for yourself and as a paste directly on the nipple since it is more healing (you can mix some with a little bit of water, then apply it to the nipple).

Once your nipples are better, you can switch to the Candigen Cream.

You can also give your baby the HMF Natogen.

Q. I'm pregnant right now and have Candida, can I still take the HMF intensive?

A. The HMF Intensive and HMF Replete are perfectly safe and quite beneficial during pregnancy, but the Allisyn has not been studied during pregnancy and there is always a chance that the garlic might thin your blood and cause complications. It's best not to take a chance.

Instead, I recommend you use the homeopathic products for Candida which are safe during pregnancy. These include Can Albex 50X and Fungisode by Genestra.

Please read here about the products which are safe for Candida treatment during pregnancy:

I'm breast feeding and both I and my baby get thrush. Any suggestions?
Q. My son is almost 8 months old and has had a couple of small thrush patches in his cheeks for well over a month now, what do you recommend? Also I am going to be breastfeeding and I had a thrush as well, what supplements can I take?

A. Please read here for detailed information on our women’s yeast protocol and suggested supplements.

For your thrush, I recommend you first start with 10 days of HMF Intensive probiotic capsules which contain no FOS (1 capsule 3x daily after each meal).

For the next 10 days after HMF Intensive, I recommend either HMF Forte capsules 2-4 caps after meals (if you want to continue taking caps), or HMF Super Powder ½ teaspoon after meals.

In addition, you should take 1 Allisyn capsules after each meal for 20 days (1 bottle), and then 1 capsule per day for maintenance dose to keep yeast at bay. This is a great & powerful product!

After your first month, if your symptoms have subsided, you can go to a maintenance dose of probiotics and Allisyn caps (garlic/cinnamon bark oil).

If you have any vaginal yeast, HMF CandiGen suppositories are incredibly helpful since they re-establish the good flora, balance pH, and kill off yeast. Women use these instead of medications and get significantly better results with no negative side effects:

Also very important is to give your child the infant probiotic HMF Natogen.

Children with thrush also do really well on the anti-fungal homeopathics such as Can Albex 30x.

I am 14 weeks pregnant and my allergies have flared up. What is a safe allergy supplement for pregnant women?
Q. I am 14 weeks pregnant and my allergies have flared up. What is a safe allergy supplement for pregnant women?

A. Here is an allergy protocol safe during pregnancy:
  • Allergiplex is safe and should help with respiratory symptoms. Since it is homeopathic, the ingredients contained are in such small concentration that they have no baring on your pregnancy.
  • I also recommend you take HMF Probiotics, as these are helpful in allergies and will also protect you and your baby from yeast problems, as well as help your total immune system and absorption of nutrients.
I cannot say enough positive things about HMF Probiotics. If your gut function is not great, start with 1-2 bottles of HMF Intensive—1 cap with each meal totalling 3 per day. Then after 2-4 weeks, you can switch to HMF Super Powder and take 1 tsp daily. Because 60-80% of your immune system is located around your gut, having these good bacteria help protect your immune function by fighting many of the battles ingested via the mouth. They are essential to good health, and will also help ensure your vaginal canal is healthy for delivery.
  • Maxum Matragen is an excellent prenatal vitamin which will also promote a healthier immune system. Here is a link where you can learn more. Take 1-2 caps twice daily.
  • Lastly, I recommend a healthy omega-3 fatty acid supplement such as Super EFA Plus by Genestra. Omega-3s are proven to support the immune system and reduce inflammation causing allergies. Here is a link where you can find out more. I recommend 1 tsp daily of Super EFA Plus, or something comparable.

Q. Do you have a product which you would recommend for hot flashes?

A. We have some very effective products to address hot flashes. I will detail them below.

Dioscorcea Cream by Genestra: Take approx 1/8-1/4 tsp 1-2 times per day to balance your hormone levels and reduce hot flashes. Many women also use this to aid in sleep by taking it at night before bedtime.

Isogen Capsules by Genestra: Take 1-2 twice daily with meals from day 1 to 14 of the calendar month, for four months. These capsules contain organic soy isoflavones which reduce the effects of estrogen dominance, reducing hotflashes and
other unfavorable menopause symptoms.

Together, this is a great treatment plan. Also consider reducing sugar intake. Sugar will aggravate hot flashes!

What products do you recommend for the onset of PMS?
Q. My doctor has diagnosed me with perimenopause. My main symptoms are extreme irritability, Weight gain, water retention, stiffness and soreness all over. Some anxiety, forgetfulness and extreme exhaustion. What products do you recommend?

A. These are some products I would recommend for perimenopausal symptoms.
  • TFE Female Formula - Two tablets daily with a meal provides synergistic nutrients along with ovarian and uterine tissue extracts specifically formulated for the support and regulation of the female reproductive organs. Deficiencies in progesterone and estrogen, hormones secreted by the ovaries, have been linked to premenstrual syndrome, perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
  • Dioscorea Cream - apply 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon, two times daily from day 15 to 28 of the calendar month, for four months. Repeat as necessary. It is helpful for alleviating symptoms in peri/menopause, including edema, irritability, weight gain, fibroids, breast tenderness, hot flashes, anxiety, vaginal dryness and depression. Massage Dioscorea Cream into soft tissue areas, such as breasts, under arms, inner arms or thighs, wrist area or abdomen. Apply to a new area each day on a four day rotation to avoid saturation of fat cells.
  • Biotone EFA - is a unique combination of rice bran, soybean and wheat germ oils specifically formulated to support and regulate hormonal function. Rice bran and wheat germ oils are high in octacosanol, fatty acids, phytosterols, and in ketosteroids, anabolic growth agents, and lipotropic factors. Octacosanol, found in wheat and in rice oil fractions, improves heart functions, increases vitality and endurance, prevents muscle spasms, and duplicates the biological effects of sex hormones and ketosteroids without the side-effects associated with hormone therapy.
  • OSX Osteo Forte - for your stiffness and and soreness, I would recommend a good bone formula, if you are not currently taking minerals. This one is formulated for women approaching menopause or are currently in it. I would recommend 2 tablets, twice daily with meals.
And I see you've been taking Ichol Plus. I would also suggest you continue with this for the liver support. Supporting the liver can also help metabolize hormones and toxins that need to be removed from the body.

Please keep in mind that it does take a while for supplements to have an effect on the body, so you may not notice improvements right away, so be patient. I hope you are also taking a good multiple vitamin, and eating a healthy diet, high in fresh fruits and veggies (especially cruciferous and root veggies). Try to choose organic where possible.

I'm actually amazed that Vitalzym X has been so effective, it's like a miracle
Q. I'm actually amazed that Vitalzym X has been so effective, it's like a miracle.

A. I am so grateful to have my life back, soooo grateful, I will probably take them for the rest of my life”

I would like to tell you my experience so far with VitalzymX and I may have a question or two.

I'm on my second box and it's been about 2 months since I began taking the supplements. Within 2 weeks I noticed a difference not only in the way I felt but in the size of my uterus. First, a little history. I have fibroids that have been extremely troublesome for about 6 years. That is six years of excessive bleeding, anemia and all the fun stuff that comes along with those two conditions. Basically it has been hell. It affected everyaspect of my life and work. I tried so many different supplements including hormones and nothing worked. I did take iron three times a day and that just kept me out of the hospital because they would say "Well your iron's low but not quite low enough". That actually was a good thing because I probably would have had my uterus removed and I was trying to avoid that. So back to the size of my uterus - most of the time

I looked 4-5 months pregnant, on occasion it would deflate and I would become hopeful, but within a day or two it would swell again. I have been an active person all my life but this condition took me down. Walking was my only option for exercise and some days I couldn't even walk. Well, now I'm running again. I feel energy that I haven't felt in a very long time and of course, I feel happy. I am productive again and even feel hopeful about the incredible debt that I have to deal with. At least I can work! I'm actually amazed that Vitalzym X has been so effective, it's like a miracle. I don't feel like a bloated whale and I can actually pull my tummy in. I know my uterus has shrunk because my clothes fit again and I don't have to where the maternity look-alike tops. And people are noticing, they think I've lost weight and since I'm not anemic I look better, my skin is not pasty and pale. But for me it's all about health and I feel healthy and vital and like ME again. I take 9-10 Vitalzym a day, that seemed to be my 'activation' dose. I even take a few more just before my period because that's when my uterus swells the most. And it works!

I am going to continue this until my periods stop (which given my age of 53 shouldn't be long) but I was wondering what you thought about that. Maybe when I'm sure things are stable I can reduce the daily amount. But at the moment I'm happy to take as many as it takes to be effective. I am so grateful to have my life back, soooo grateful, I will probably take them for the rest of my life. Thank-you Dr. Wong.

Sincerely, Gratefully and Thankfully,
Ellie Matheson

Is there a natural product that can shrink uterine fibroids?
Q. I have had a large fibroid (8cmx10cmx11cm) plus several smaller ones for at least 10 years. I went into perimenopause... lots of good sized blood clots. On my way home from Asia, I was hospitalized in Bangkok because the bleeding was so heavy I could not get on the plane. I have been doing everything I can to naturally bring my hormones into balance. I have now scheduled a hysterectomy. I am giving it one last ditch effort to try to reduce the size of the fibroid and bring the bleeding under control. Any suggestions?

A. The best supplement I can recommend for this is called: VitalzymX. I encourage you to read the review we recently received from a women who used these to shrink her fibroids with good success.

Beyond the reviews, we have seen great success with using this product for many people with scarring and inflammatory conditions. This is the new Vitalzyme product, which is 4 times stronger than the older version, so I would highly recommend it for you. Please read the tabs located under the picture of the product for more information about this enzyme product and how it is used. You would need to build up to your activation dose over time, it may be that you need to build up to 3 capsules 3 times a day.

Additionally, could also be helpful to try these:
  • Dioscorea Cream - may be helpful for balancing your progesterone and hormone imbalances. It is a cream you rub on your abdomen, thighs, inner arms, etc, as it is recommended, see "More Info" tab.
  • Unda's are a line of homeopathic biotheraputic drainage, if you can afford to also include these, I would recommend these to help detoxify and drain your hormonal system. These are the Unda's I would recommend to use all at the same time 5 drops, 3 times a day into the mouth 20 minutes away from food or brushing teeth:
  • Unda 10, Unda 21, Unda 48 and Unda 245. Here is a link to the Unda section on our website, you can use the Search Box to look up each one I have listed for you. These Unda's can be helpful in balancing hormones and allowing the body greater capacity to break down and remove the fibriods.

I heard that Unda homeopathics could be helpful for re-growth of hair. Which ones do you recommend?
Q. I heard that Unda homeopathics could be helpful for re-growth of hair. Which ones do you recommend?

A. For hair re-growth, you can try Unda 12 and Unda 40. Also perhaps Unda 1000, 14, and 9 depending on reason for original hair loss.

Also these necessary nutrients are critical since they target the foundation of any hair growth:

How should I take Unda #1,#20, & #243 when doing a detox?
Q. Are Unda numbers: #1, #20, #243 for detoxification, taken all at once under the tongue or mixed in water or taken separately throughout the day?

A. Unda homeopathics are usually used three at a time since each one addresses a different elimination or organ system, and best results can be obtained by targeting them together.

The best way to use them is by administering them 2 minutes apart, and twice daily between meals. For example, in the morning place 7 drops of Unda #1 under the tongue and hold for 2 minutes or more. Then move onto Unda #20 and hold for a couple minutes. Finally, use #243 and hold. Repeat this in the evening or about 12 hours later.

Unda homeopathic can be taken 5 drops 3 times a day or 7 drops twice a day.

It is important that you do not brush your teeth with mint toothpaste, chew mint gum, drink coffee, or eat food an hour or more before or after using homeopathics since this weakens their potential. Seroyal does make special Homeofresh toothpaste and gum which are safe do use during homeopathic treatment.

Q. Do I take the 15 drops of Chelidonium Plex by Unda Seroyal, 3 x day in water or under the tongue?

Can I combine my drops of Unda #9, #24, & #228 in water and then drink it?
Q. I use UNDA 9,24,228; if I miss a dose what do I do? Can I put all drops in the same water from all the 3 bottles and drink it down once?

A. According to Dr. Thom, you shouldn't mix all 3 remedies together since they would not work as efficiently. Instead you should take 5 drops from each bottle at a time under the tongue and wait one minute before swallowing or mix it with a tiny bit of water if the product is too strong for you.

You are supposed to use the Unda products for 3 weeks and be 1 week off by using 5 drops 3 times daily away from meals to see better results.

In order to get exactly 5 drops, turn the bottle upside down and open the cap, wait until the drops come out of the bottle, but do not shake it. It will pour slowly and you should be able to get the exact amount.

If you forget a dose, try to take it as soon as you remember.

Q. What Unda Numbers do you recommend for a chronic cough and general detoxification?

A. The Unda numbers are wonderful remedies since they help the body to detoxify by encouraging the cells to work more efficiently and to facilitate waste elimination.

For chronic coughs, I would recommend that you take Number 5 , with Number 32 and Number 220.

The Drosera Plex syrup works great as well.

If you are looking for a general detoxification program, I would recommend the following numbers: Number 1, Number 20 and Number 243.

What Unda numbers do you recommend for mild constipation?
Q. What Unda numbers do you recommend for mild constipation? Any other supplements? Nutritional advice?

A. Unda products #6 and #226 both address constipation.

Remember however that these products don't replenish healthy bacteria, which is most commonly at the root of constipation. To replete your healthy bacteria, you must take HMF Intensive bacteria for 10 days, followed by HMF Super Powder daily and indefinitely.
Also, take Phyto Greens, by Genestra to alkalinize your GI pH, and promote healthy bowel function and more!

Your diet is also very important. Drink plenty of water, eat plenty of fiber through salads and colorful veggies (raw whenever possible). Eliminate sugar and refined foods from your diet (i.e. packaged foods like cereal, cookies, crackers, pasta, breads), and focus on fresh, whole, unrefined, unprocessed natural foods and hormone free (organic) lean protein. You may also consider eliminating dairy and gluten (all wheat based products) from your diet since they often cause constipation. Remove them for 2 weeks to see if your symptoms improve.

Which Unda will help my Fatty Liver disease and Syndrome X?
Q. What can I take to help my Fatty Liver disease and Syndrome X? I am having a difficult time losing weight. Help!

A. Below is a simple supplement protocol:
  • Carduus Plex, by Unda—this is a homeopathic with liver helpers such as milk thistle and dandelion among many others: Dosage is 10 drops 3-4 times daily.
  • Ichol by Genestra—This contains nutrients and herbs to aid in fatty liver: Dosage is 1-2 tablets twice daily with meals.
  • Phytogreens—This is a super greens formula to aid in your total nutritional status and pH balance in your gut. It strengthens the liver as it aids in a gentle detoxification and neutralization of toxins: Take 1-2 Tbs mixed in water daily anytime.
  • HMF Probiotics—In order to minimize toxic pollution of your body, you must be digesting and eliminating properly. This is an excellent probiotic (good bacteria) to help your body get rid of toxins before they have a chance to enter your bloodstream. By taking this, good bacteria will overcrowd the negative flora, which produce toxins in and of themselves, sometimes in great enough quantity to cause liver problems. You should start with HMF Intensive (1 cap with each meal for 2-3 weeks) and then progress to HMF Super Powder, 1 tsp daily.

Dietary recommendations:
  • Reduce all forms of carbohydrates and sugars to help Syndrome X.
  • Exclude all sources of hydrogenated fats (trans-fats).
  • Include more greens, berries, nuts, seeds, avocado, organic meat, poultry eggs, wild fish, coconut oil, etc.

As you implement some of the liver support and change your diet, there are other nutrients you can introduce to help reverse Syndrome X. However most importantly first, it is important to reduce toxic load and increase nutrient status. Also, studies show that exercise combined with healthy diet is very important in reversing fatty liver.

Can I evaporate out the alcohol from the UNDA remedy so I can use it on my infant?
Q. Can I evaporate out the alcohol from the UNDA remedy so I can use it on my infant?

A. You may rub the UNDA remedy on the child's tummy or belly button rather than administer it orally. An UNDA number is NOT a tincture. It is ESSENTIAL that you do NOT attempt to evaporate the alcohol. If you do, you will NO longer have an UNDA number. The way these remedies are made is to energetically add the remedy to the alcohol. The alcohol is therefore a PART of the remedy and acts as a carrier.

No alcohol = no remedy.

Which Unda products are recommended for depression?
Q. My wife is currently suffering from depression. Can you recommend a certain Unda product for that condition? I've found them useful in the past.

A. I'm glad to hear Unda numbers have helped your wife in the past. I have found them to be effective personally as well! For depression, I recommend numbers 9, 24 and 228.

She should combine this with a few other supplements as well:Make sure she is also eating enough protein and healthy fats. Protein in particular is needed to support neurotransmitter function. It's also important her digestive system is functioning well, since this is where neurotransmitters are made. If there is a deficiency, she needs to take probiotics. HMF Intensive are the best–1 cap twice daily is a good dose.

Which Unda might help my son who has a 7 month wait for Adenoid surgery?
Q. I am inquiring what Unda numbers you would recommend for my son who has infected tonsils and adnoids. He is on a waiting list for surgery but that is a 7 month waiting list. He is vomiting from the pus on the adnoids I am sure, and his breath is strong.

A. Here is what I'm recommending for him with the Unda's and the infection in his tonsils and adenoids. It is important he take 5 drops on the tongue of each of these 3 times a day 20 minutes away from food or brushing teeth.
  • Unda 2- This helps the open the drainage for the kidneys to help filter out the infection and toxins in the circulation of the blood. This is indicated for all infections and inflammation and to improve the overall function of the kidneys.
  • Unda 37 - This helps activate his immune system, including respiratory and digestive systems. This is known as the UNDA antibiotic because it defends against infections.
  • Unda 312 - This is specific to the throat, and all infections/abscesses in the throat.
If his infection gets worse with fever, please consider adding Unda 15 to the protocol and try to increase the dose up to 6 times a day. Unda 15 can be used if his condition becomes acute. It does not suppress the fever, it helps make his fever more efficient in killing the pathogens causing the infection so the fever doesn't have to last as long. If you do have to use this remedy, I would advise you to find a naturopathic physician who is experienced with using Undas to help you through this period safely.
  • HTPY Thymus Drops by Genestra - this homeopathic remedy may also be helpful to add to this protocol for additional immune system support. Five drops under the tongue two to three times daily, 20 minutes away from meals. You could get this to have on hand once he runs out of the Undas to help keep his immune system stimulated.
For his low iron, I would recommend this Iron Supplement by Genestra. It is 40mg of absorbable iron. I would give him 1 capsule EVERY OTHER day until his infection subsides and his iron stores are re-established. At that point you could give him a capsule every 4th day to keep him from becoming anemic again.

For his digestive issues, you didn't really go into what is happening there, but a good probiotic can be helpful in improving most digestive issues. I would recommend HMF Intensive first for 1-2 months, 1 cap a day with meals. He may need to stay on it longer depending on how much improvement he gets. Once his health has improved we could put him on a maintenance probiotic later on.

Please keep me informed as to how he is doing once you get him started on these. Hopefully, some of this will help his snoring improve too. It sounds like his whole immune system is very imbalanced. As time goes on it would be good to try to resolve the root problems for his immune system dysfunction and help restore his health.

How are Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) broken down in the body?
Q. How are Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) broken down in the body?

A. EFAs are broken down in the gut (hydrolyzed) and the individual fatty acids are absorbed by the enterocytes lining the GI tract. The enterocytes assemble the fatty acids and glycerol into triglycerides. The triglycerides and other fat soluble nutrients are collected and assembled into chylomicrons, which are absorbed by the lacteals (lymphatic vessels of the small intestines). The chylomicrons flow with the lymph into the blood and reaches every tissue in the body.

In the tissues the triglycerides are absorbed in a similar way as triglycerides are absorbed by the enterocytes. In the tissues the fatty acids can be metabolized into for example local hormones.

The hydrolization process in the gut requires lipase secreted by the pancreas and bile synthesized in the liver and secreted from the gallbladder.

What menopause or PMS symptoms does TFE Formula help?
Q. Is TFE formula only good for menopause or PMS symptoms-breakouts, bloating, sore breasts, cramps, blood clots, heavy periods, as well?

A. You may find some nice benefits to using TFE formula since it is a general tonic for the female reproductive system. It is not necessarily more for menopausal women, but instead it supports the healthy functioning of the female organs. Thus, it may help your PMS symptoms. You’ll have to take it for 1-3 months in order to get the full benefit of the product. This is because natural supplements are gentle and take a little time to really get into your system and nourish/support your organs.

For your symptoms, you may also want to consider Omega 3 Fish Oils. They will make a huge difference in your PMS, blood clots, cramps, dry skin and hair, and possibly improve your breakouts. They have helped me and my clients tremendously.

I usually recommend the Super EFA Liquid 1 Tablepoon per day for 1 month, and then a maintenance dose of 1 tsp per day.
This oil has absolutely no fishy smell or taste, but it is oily, so you can either take it off the spoon and chase it down with something, or mix it into applesauce, yogurt, or a smoothie. It’s worth it to get it down since the benefits are noticeable within the first week. An incredible product. If you absolutely can’t take the oil, then you can take the capsules but you’ll have to swallow 6 capsules per day.

Don’t settle for inferior grade fish oils in the stores. It must have quality control testing behind it like Genestra’s does.

Do you have a fish oil program for Crohn's Disease?

What products would be good for chronic sinus pressure/infections? Also, I had a baby 7 months ago.
Q. What products would be good for chronic sinus pressure/infections? Also, I had a baby 7 months ago.

A. Since chronic sinus infections are usually a result of bacterial, fungal, or viral infections which are lodged in the sinuses and become inflamed from time to time, I recommend treating not just the inflammation, but also the root cause—which is the chronic infection/immune deficiency. Most often, I find chronic yeast (a fungus) to be responsible for sinus infections. I've outlined some nutritional/herbal/homeopathic recommendations below to help.

To reestablish a healthier systemic microbial balance & improve immune function, take:
  1. HMF Probiotics by Genestra — I suggest an increased dose of 1 TBS daily Super Powder to help overcrowd the bad microbes.
  2. Allisyn Garlic — this is a powerful antifungal & microbial—it will help kill yeast and improve immune function. Take 1 cap with each meal, total of 2-3 daily. You may experience some 'die off' which is the result of killing yeast/bacteria in your system. It can cause a temporary worsening of symptoms. You can support/prevent this by beginning with just 1 cap of Allisyn per day for the first 3-5 days, then increase to 2 and so on.
  3. EC+ Immune Complex and/or HTYP Thymus Drops — these support your immune system, in order to fight the infection more effectively.

  4. Homeopathic Treatments
  5. Unda 710—This remedy is specific for inflammatory conditions of the skin and respiratory systems and is indicated for conditions such as sinusitis, acne, shingles and acute or sub-acute inflammatory conditions.
  6. Pyrogenium Plex—Pyrogenium Plex contains a specific combination of synergistic homeopathic remedies known for their antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties to help relieve symptoms associated with congestion in the upper respiratory tract, specifically the nasal cavity and sinuses.

Be sure to support your immune health with a low sugar, low-no dairy diet, adequate protein and vegetables, extra rest, water, light exercise, & stress reduction.

  • MyoSedate by DFH - this is a combination of calming herbs and minerals that help with muscle relaxation and it may promote better quality sleep without causing morning grogginess.
  • Sleep Aide by Vital Nutrients - if you are already taking minerals at night, you might want to try this one. It has ingredients that help the brain calm down so you can fall asleep easier, along with calming herbs to help provide a more restful sleep.
If you go with the second choice, you may want to include some magnesium malate in the evening to help relax the muscles. Please let us know if we can be of more help.

Is there a ratio for taking copper and zinc, or can I just take zinc by itself?
Q. I have read elsewhere that copper and zinc have to be in a finite ratio. Is it safe to have zinc and no copper at all?

A. Ideally, you want a balanced ratio of zinc to copper in the body and cells, but because 85% of us are seriously zinc deficient, and many of us have excess copper levels, people tend to do really well on copper free supplements with extra zinc for months or even years. More specifically, women with PMS, menopausal complaints, and emotional upsets tend to have very high copper levels. Zinc deficiency is also very common with people who get colds and flu often, have high levels or stress, and prostate health concerns. Zinc is also very deficient in the food supply due to our nutrient poor soil, thus it is a constant struggle to get enough zinc.

Once your zinc levels have been restored to normal (as per the Zinc Challenge Taste Test), and assuming copper levels are not in excess (as per hair mineral analysis), this is a good time to supplement with multivitamin which has zinc and copper in a Zinc/Copper ratio of 15mg:1mg.

Stevia gives me an aftertaste, would Xylitol Sweetener be a better choice?
Q. Does the "Xylitol Sweetener" taste good? We tried Stevia but it has a really bitter aftertaste. This one sounds better but you never know until you actually try it.

A. The Xylitol is the best tasting natural sugar substitute in existence, and an excellent product. It looks and tastes almost exactly like sugar, no aftertaste, and you can cook with it. I use it in my tea and when I make healthy desserts for my husband.

I'm menopausal with dryness during sex. Any non HRT product recommended?
Q. I have vaginal dryness and bleeding during intercourse. I'm in menopause, cannot take HRT because I am a breast cancer survivor. What do you recommend?

A.
Vaginal dryness and bleeding during intercourse is very common among menopausal women. Here are some products I would recommend you try:
  • Vitamin A and Vitamin E Suppositories by Wise Women Herbals - These are two different suppositories (with different links), but used together at bedtime, the Vitamin A can help restore damaged vaginal tissue and the Vitamin E can help vaginal dryness. I would recommend the 10 suppository packs. Use 1 each per night for 5 nights, then break for a couple of weeks before repeating.
  • Natural Lubricant with Vitamin E by Emerita - this is a gentle daily lubricant, I would recommend this one as a first choice above the other one I've listed below. I just thought this other one may be something you would want to try to see if one works better over the other.
  • Personal Lubricant w/ Aloe by Emerita - Application is intended for vaginal use. Do not apply to broken or damaged skin, so you might wait to use this until you use your first round of suppositories. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. You can use this during intercourse to help lubricate or as a daily lubricant.
Additionally, you might also want to review our section on helpful products during menopause. Below the list of products, there is also a bit of information about menopause.

Is there a non-hormonal alternative to help control Polycystic Ovary Disease?
Q. I am 35 years old and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Disease when I was 20. I've been taking birth control for it. I was wondering if you would have products that would do the same thing that the birth control pill does but without risk of blood clotting, cancer etc.

A. I highly recommend you read about Progesterone Cream. It will regulate your menstrual cycle and will help PCO.

You should also get John Lee, MD's book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PreMenopause" which covers PCO on p. 124. Dr. Lee did incredible work in women's health issues for over 25 years and uses solid research and holistic based approach to healing.

Also, you should consider a supplement called DIM Vitex Formula which targets female reproductive issues.

Your diet is very important as well to control your insulin which has been linked to PCO. Keep your diet very low in refined and processed foods like bread, cereal, pasta, desserts, and sugar. Aim for high protein foods and lots of green vegetables and salads.

Will Vitalzym or PaleoGreens feed Uterine Fibroids and encourage their growth?
Q. I have Uterine Fibroids. Is there anything in Vitalzym or PaleoGreens that will feed the fibroids and make them grow?

A. The two products you ordered are excellent and I use them personally. Neither product will make your fibroids worse, and could actually help. Vitalzym is great for reducing inflammation and breaking down abnormal growths in tissues, so this could be helpful for your fibroids in conjunction with the progesterone. The PaleoGreens are wonderful for overall health as they alkalinize the intestines and the body, provide nutrients, and assist with detoxification.

The only things that can make things worse is eating dairy, not getting enough dietary fiber, and consuming foods which are high in hormones such as non-organic animal products (meat, chicken, eggs, etc). Focus on putting lots of healthy foods in your diet, and exercise regularly to assist your body with hormone balance and detoxification.

Q. I suffer from chronic cervicitis, what products do you recommend for me?
A. I would recommend that you also supplement your diet with Folic Acid such as the Super Liquid Folate by Designs For Health.

Green Tea extract by Designs for Health has also been helpful in the treatment of chronic cervicitis; it is also a powerful antibacterial.

You should also consider the Probiotic Synergy by DFH. It is an Immune defense at the intestinal and systemic level and inhibits the growth of pathogenic organisms such as bacteria, yeast, and parasites.

Omega Synergy by DFH is a new and improved product is an essential fatty acid (EFA) formulation consisting of a blend of wild deep-sea fish oils EPA& DHA (Certified free of heavy metals and PCBs), organic GLA (GMO-free) from borage oil, and alpha linolenic acid (ALA) from GMO-free flax oil, making it the most complete Omega oil blend.

You would definitely see great benefit s from this product.

As an alternative to a Hysterectomy what could help diminish Uterine Fibroids?
Q. I've been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and I'd like to reduce them naturally. My doctor has only offered me the treatment of a hysterectomy which I do not want to pursue because I am only age 30, married, with no children.

A. Fibroid tumors are preventable and treatable. Please consider these options before doing a hysterectomy at age 30! Vitalzym by World Nutrition. Take 3-6 enzymes 3 times daily between meals to shrink fibroids (3+ months). Dose can be decreased once you have successfully shrunken them. You and your doctor will be impressed.

Progesterone Cream by Metabolic Maintenance. 1 pump per night topically.

Book by Dr. John Lee- a women's health expert for over 25 years (book listed within Progesterone product page "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-Menopause")

Phosphatidyl Choline by DFH (for liver support) 1 Tbsp per day in smoothie, yogurt, juice, or applesauce.

And finally, DIM has been found to be promising in preventing uterine fibroid tumors, so this product is as prevention for re-occurrence by helping eliminate the dangerous estrogens which cause hormonal imbalances and lead to fibroids.

Q. What product do you recommend to increase female libido? I don't want to take large amounts of Arginine because I'm prone to cold sores.

A. Arousal Factors by BioGenesis is a great product with a mixture of botanicals which only has 200mg of Arginine per 2 capsules, so this small amount would not be likely to do so. But, I also recommend you keep a bottle of L-Lysine on hand since it naturally balances out Arginine and is a great first line defense for cold sores.

What supplements can help a person with PMS symptoms, Acne, a irregular periods?
Q. My daughter has high cortisol as per a saliva test. She is under enormous stress and also suffers from PMS symptoms monthly. She also has acne problems with her period and wonders what supplements could be of help.

A.
  • GLA by Designs for Health is an essential fatty acid needed for hormone production. Her PMS and acne are related to imbalanced hormone production. GLA is highly effective in treating this if used in the right dosage. Begin by taking 3 capsules twice daily with meals.
  • Phosphatidyl Serine (PS) is great to lower cortisol: Take 3 capsules daily.
  • Progesterone cream will also help lower cortisol and balance hormones. Apply one pump onto skin once daily before bed during days 12-28 of cycle.
  • FemGuard + Balance, by Designs for Health: This would replace Vitex and contains a host of other nutrients to aid in estrogen balance and PMS.
  • And finally for spot reduction of stress, my personal favorite "chill out" supplement is CatecholaCalm: It contains some B vitamins, magnesium, relaxing herbs and theanine, an amino acid which helps people to relax. It is a nice combo!

Is there an alternative to antibiotics for Crytoporidium and H. Blastocyst?
Q. My 22 year old daughter has had problems ever since international travel 6 years ago. She is sick frequently, is chronically tired, has increased body/facial hair, acne, and gastrointestinal problems (gas, bloating, and reflux). She was diagnosed with 2 parasites (crytosporidium and h. blastocyst) and placed on an anti-inflammatory diet (wheat free) to heal the intestinal lining before being treated for the parasites with strong antibiotics. We would prefer a natural treatment. Do you have any recommendations for products that may help her?

A. There are certainly some nutritional measures you can attempt before using strong medications. If she has experienced an increase in facial hair, acne, etc, that indicates a hormonal imbalance. Get her estrogen and testosterone levels checked. This may be related to her parasites or it could be an independent issue. Often when the intestines do not function properly, due to a situation as hers, many seemingly unrelated symptoms are likely to occur. It has to do with nutrient malabsoprtion, which then halts production of enzymes and hormones.

To remove parasites, I highly recommend this very effecting herbal cleansing program:
  • Internal Cleansing Kit, by Blessed Herbs followed up with Parasite Cleansing Kit. It is an all inclusive kit for cleansing and parasite elimination, and has been used by Rockwell Nutrition staff and family, as well as clients and know to be effective.
  • For balancing your daughters hormones to help with acne, hair, etc., do get hormone levels tested and if estrogen and testosterone are higher than normal, use topically applied progesterone cream to balance them out.
She should limit her sugar and starch intake as much as possible, since the overproduction of insulin will lead to an imbalance in her estrogen/progesterone. Also, it may be worth having her tested for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This condition is reversible with good diet and supplementation. Repairing her intestines will allow her to begin to digest and metabolize nutrients to normalize all body functions.

What product(s) would help to lower FSH, or are helpful for infertility?
Q. Are there any products that you recommend to help lower FSH or that are good for infertility? I recently found out that I have an elevated FSH level.

A. Please read more about FemGuard + Balance by DFH. It contains several herbs shown to normalize FSH levels and to help with women's entire hormone system. Also, for fertility, consider taking Finest Pure Fish Oils, Whey Cool Protein, HLC Probiotics, and a multivitamin. It is important to ensure minimal nutritional deficiencies to signal your body that it possesses adequate nutrition to support a new life.

Finest Pure Fish Oils, by Pharmax: Two teaspoons daily will provide more essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3s to support your hormonal health and signal your body that it has enough fatty acids to support a new life.
Whey Cool Protein Powder, by DFH: This is very high quality protein which tastes delicious as a smoothie with frozen fruit. Most people are protein deficient, and since protein is the main nutrient needed to support new tissue growth and new life, it would be helpful to drink a protein smoothie everyday for breakfast or a snack.
HLC Probiotics, by Pharmax: This is healthy bacteria for your gut, needed for optimal nutrient absorption. Take 1 tsp daily after a meal.
Twice Daily Multi, by DFH: This is a multivitamin with sufficient B-vitamins, especially folate—800mcg. It is important to ensure you have enough micronutrients to prepare your body for pregnancy.

Also, improve your diet with reduced sugar and starch intake, which cause excess estrogen. Switch to organic meats, dairy, poultry and eggs, to remove excess hormones coming into your body affecting your natural levels. Eat more organic protein, green vegetables, and healthy fats such as avocado and nuts.

What do you recommend for Candida, itchy hives, and a coated tongue?
Q. What do you recommend for Candida and Allergies that present on my skin as hives and patches...very itchy...also a coated tongue.

A. Here are the links to products that will assist you with your problems.
  • HLC MindLinx - this would be a good maintenance probiotic to help with breaking down gluten and dairy. Take with meals.
  • AllerGzyme by DFH - full spectrum proteolytic enzyme complex which is focused on assisting with the digestion of difficult to breakdown proteins such as gluten, gliadin and casein from whey and dairy, as well as other many other protein sources from the diet including soy and rice.
  • L-Glutamine by DFH (powder) - the recommended amount for Healing Leaky Gut/ Food Allergies is 3-10 tsp (more than I quoted on the phone).
  • Whey Cool by DFH
  • SalbaRx by Core Naturals - this would be an excellent fiber to add, as it is gluten-free, and has Vitamin C, and essential fatty acids (omega-3's), calcium, magnesium and other vitamins and minerals, to support your nutrient needs! I would highly recommend you try this. The added daily fiber will help move out dead and dying yeast and bacteria from the intestinal tract, which will help the overall health and healing process.
  • FiPro Ground Flax Seeds - these would add fiber and omega-3's to your diet, add to your whey protein shakes or sprinkle on salad or other veggies (broccoli) for an added nutty flavor. I thought this could be another option to consider for added fiber and omega-3's. Omega-3's help keep inflammation lower, so either of these would be a good addition to your diet.

In addition to avoiding sugar, what supplements should I use for Candida?
Q. What specific supplements would you suggest for Candida? Diet wise, I know I need to avoid sugar!! But can you provide other guidance? I sent you the results of my Candida questionnaire.

A. As for the idea of candidiasis, it does seem that you have many symptoms that correspond to a yeast overgrowth. I'm just going to fore-worn you that many physicians do not consider candidiasis to be a medically valid or diagnosable problem. Mainly, because they haven't had the education regarding this condition in medical school and it is difficult for labs to isolate these organisms in lab tests, so this remains to be a controversial issue in the American medical community.

At Rockwell Nutrition, we have a background education in nutrition and natural medicine. The natural medicine community does recognize candidiasis to be a problem for many and over the years have seen great improvement with improving this condition through diet, supplements and herbs. I'm including weblinks to products I've recommended.

To get you started on some supplements to help with eradicating the yeast I would recommend:
  • Colon Guard: (Day 1-30) 1 capsule twice daily with a meal for 2 weeks, then 1 per day for 2 weeks. (aggressive yeast killer to be used no longer than 1 month)
  • Alli-Cinn: (Day 30-365) 1 capsule twice daily with a meal after finishing 1 month of Colon Guard. (Maintenance yeast killer to be used indefinitely).
You must use probiotics during this yeast killing phase to start replenishing the beneficial bacteria in the GI as well as to prevent further overgrowth of pathogenic strains which have been found to overgrow during antimicrobial therapy. (Duration: 1-6 months+)
  • HLC Intensive capsules: (Day 1-10): 1 cap three times daily after meals for 10 days
  • HLC Synbiotic: (Day 11-18) 1 packet daily before bed (or ½ packet twice daily after meals). Can be mixed in water or taken right off the spoon for 7-14 days. HLC Synbiotic packets are the highest potency probiotic plus prebiotic (FOS) product and contain a minimum of 130 billion total L. acidophilus (two strains), B. bifidum and lactis, and L. salivarius in each packet. After 10 days of HLC Intensive capsules, the GI is ready for FOS which will feed the beneficial bacteria and help re-colonize the GI. Each of the five different strains will attach in different areas of the epithelial tissue in the intestinal tract (small and large intestines). This probiotic is a microbial replacement program for the gastrointestinal tract intended for 7 to 14 days depending on the severity of the problem.
  • HLC High Potency Powder or Capsules: (Day 19-365) Maintenance dose probiotics to be taken indefinitely.
Bind and Remove Toxins: during the yeast killing phase of month 1, you need to bind the released toxins and excrete them from your body. We suggest: Strengthen Immune Function: Restoring proper Immune Function is one of the key goals in treatment and long term prevention of Candidiasis. These supplements offer immune support: You didn't mention anything about having problems with vaginal yeast infections. If this is a problem for you as well, I would also recommend the suppositories we have listed in our Candida Supplement program:
  • Yeast Arrest Suppositories: (Day 1-14) 1-2 per day for 7-14 days and then as needed (i.e. 2 days during end of menstrual cycle). Followed by:
  • HLC CandaClear suppositories: (Day 14-20) Insert 1 each night before bed for 6-12 days (as a follow up to Yeast Arrest suppositories). Then, use as needed (i.e. 2 days a month prior to or after period or when flare up is likely) to replenish the good bacteria in the vaginal tract.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding these supplements. Once you get started, please check in with me in a few weeks and let me know how you are doing ans what you find out about your thyroid. We do have some great thyroid support products I would like to bring to your attention.

As of for diet, I would recommend rice milk as an alternative to milk for you. You can use this to make smoothies and cereal. I highly recommend this over soy milk. A diet high in soy has been shown to cause hypothyroid in women, so I would not recommend soy in your case. There are gluten-free nutrition bars (at Rockwell Nutrition), gluten-free cereals and waffles available at most natural food stores. Many of these are made from a grain called quinoa, which is a gluten-free, wheat-free, high protein grain. It is very tasty.

Also, we have a great Hemp Protein you could use to make a high protein shake for a quick breakfast. We do offer other gluten-free protein powders, many of which are from whey, which is a milk protein. High quality Whey protein is not usually allergenic for most, it is the casein protein in dairy most are allergic to. I do like to recommend our whey proteins because they have many immune boosting nutrients that are naturally occurring and are quite helpful to gut healing. It might be worth considering adding at some point. If you decide to try the hemp protein, I'm going to provide a like to our Protein Smoothie Recipes, for ideas to make healthy smoothies. You could substitute the Hemp instead of the PaleoMeal Whey Protein. Substituting a protein smoothie for a meal is a great way to also cut calories slightly to help with weight loss!

I hope I've given you some ideas to get quick healthy dairy, gluten, egg, and almond-free foods into your diet to help you avoid the sugar, potato chips and chocolate. If you do feel you need chocolate, I recommend going for over 70% cocoa bars and only having 1 oz a day. This will help you satisfy your sweet tooth, while getting the nutrition form the high cocoa content. Lastly, I'd like to recommend Xylitol sweetener to add to smoothies or anything you'd like to sweeten. This is made from birch and does not feed yeast. It is very safe to consume and tastes like sugar with no aftertaste. In fact dentists highly recommend it in chewing gum because it protects teeth from decay, totally unlike sugar!

I hope you take a few minutes to review all the links I've provided.

Does Whey Cool Protein affect a person with lactose intolerance or Colitis?
Q. Can you tell me how Whey Cool Protein by Designs for Health product would affect a person who is lactose intolerance or someone who has colitis?

A. Depending on your level of lactose intolerance, you may be able to take Whey Cool. Many of my lactose intolerant clients (including my husband) take it and do fine. You can always take your lactase enzyme supplements before having Whey Cool if you seem to have a problem breaking it down.

As for colitis, Whey Cool can be soothing and reparative to the GI helping your colitis. I recommend you add in 1 Tablespoon of Fish Oils each day to reduce the inflammation from your colitis. Fish oils are very powerful for this condition.

Q. I just finished Chemo and Radiation and want to stay as clear of chemicals as possible. I want a whey protein that is as organic as possible; I now use PaleoMeal Propretary Non-Denatured Whey Protein. Is the Whey Cool Protein better?

A. The Whey Cool protein is the same great quality whey found inside Paleomeal, but it contains more grams of protein per serving than Paleomeal. Since you have just finished chemo and radiation, I think the Paleomeal is better for you since it contains some liver detoxifying nutrients inside which will help your recovery.

Please suggest a shake for a lactose intolerant 91yo who needs to gain weight?
Q. I recently discovered the whey meal replacement shake I have contains sucralose and fructose, neither of which I want. Am sharing w/my lactose-intolerant, very osteoporotic 91yo mom who desperately needs to gain fat and muscle weight (92lbs) after severe candida infection. She loves chocolate but Ensure contains too much sugar. Would any of your products be appropriate? Any suggestions?

A. An ideal & healthy replacement to Ensure would be Paleomeal Chocolate. It is made with healthy, non-denatured whey protein (no hormones), and contains no fructose or artificial sugar. Since your mom is lactose intolerant, she can take a lactase enzyme right before she has her Paleomeal smoothie. Some lactose intolerant people (like my husband) can actually consume Paleomeal with no problem. You'll have to check and see.

Is there really a difference between PaleoMeal and cheaper whey proteins?
Q. I was thinking about trying the Paleomeal by DFH, is there really a difference between the Paleomeal by DFH and the cheap whey proteins? I also add Flaxseed to the smothies but I hate the way it feels, I saw that the Paleomeal already have flaxseed as an ingredient, so if I use the paleomeal can I forget about adding the flaxseed right?

A. Yes, there is a real difference between Paleomeal whey protein and the cheaper varieties at Walmart and other stores. Paleomeal is unprocessed and biologically active which means it has many health benefits like boosting your immune system and healing your intestines. Also, this whey protein is better absorbed by the body and becomes building blocks for your muscles helping you with endurance. You may notice more energy and for longer periods of time than when you use the other types of protein. More importantly, by strengthening your immune system, you are improving every aspect of your health.

Although there are already some ground flaxseeds in Paleomeal, it is not enough to count as your sole source of dietary Omega 3s but it does give you a little fiber. Everyone should be taking an Essential Fatty Acid supplement such as Omega Synergy Fish Oil capsules (purity tested) take 1-2 per day, or ¼ cup of ground flaxseeds per day to get a good daily dose of your Omega 3s.

The re-orders on Paleomeal are incredible. It has been my #1 seller for 5 years now and clients keep coming back for more, especially after comparing with other brands.

Is PaleoMeal Organic Whey Protien by DFH certified organic? Also do you deliver in Canada?
Q. Is PaleoMeal Organic Whey Protien by DFH certified organic? Also do you deliver in Canada?

A. Paleomeal whey protein is organic by definition but not certified by the USDA. More specifically, we call it organic because the whey comes from a top notch facility with free ranging cows feeding on grass pastures with no pesticides or herbicides, never injected with hormones or antibiotics, and never fed genetically modified food. These factors qualify the whey protein as organic, but the USDA has not yet certified it due to time or cost issues. Certified Organic whey can cost twice the price.

We do not ship to Canada, although if you have a friend in the US, perhaps we could ship Paleomeal to him/her and have them send it to you? Or, next time to you travel to the US, we can ship it to your hotel.

To increase day long energy what can I augment my PaleoMeal with in the A.M.?
Q. Is there something that we can add to the PaleoMeal in the A.M. to give us energy and fullness during the day?

A. I would recommend to add 1-2 Tbs. Pharmax Finest Pure Fish Oil to your smoothie as a great way to add some healthy fat which will stabilize your blood sugars and create a greater level of lasting satiety. Pharmax Finest Pure fish oils are the first I have ever found that taste good (I use it daily in my strawberry smoothie), and it is such a healthy addition to your diet. The only contraindication to fish oils is if you are taking blood thinning medication. You may also want to add more Paleomeal to help with satiety. I scoop of vanilla has 17g of protein which is equivalent to 21/2 oz. of white meat chicken. Perhaps you want to double that.

Pharmax Finest Pure fish oils, essential orange flavored. (Take 1-2 Tbs. daily for satiety, metabolism, brain health, cellular health, anti-inflammation)

For energy specifically, I would recommend Carnitine Tartrate Powder by Designs for health. It is tart flavored powder that tastes good in water, and you may even like adding it to your smoothie.
Carnitine Tartrate Powder by Designs for health (Begin with ¼-½ tsp mixed in water first thing in the morning, you may increase this dose.)

Also for energy, I find Magnesium Glycenate, by Designs for Health to be a great energy balancer. As a matter of fact, I just ran out of my own personal stash, and I do not feel the same. (Time to reorder) I also have many clients who really enjoy this product.

Magnesium Glycenate, by Designs for Health: (Start by taking 2 in the morning with your smoothie. You may take 1-2 more in the afternoon and 1-2 in the evening if desired.)

A. Proper nutrition combined with a personalized exercise plan would be the key for you to gain muscle mass.

High quality protein is one of the most important nutrients to consume throughout the day, as protein raises protective HDL cholesterol, lowers triglycerides, improves insulin action, promotes lean muscle growth, and creates satiety and blood sugar balance.

In order to build muscle mass, I would recommend that you supplement your diet with PaleoMeal by Designs For Health, which is rich in whey protein and has the most health benefits of any protein studied.

I would also recommend Pure Creatine by Pharmax.

Q. Whey Cool and Paleomeal whey protein are not filtered. Yet, how does the filtration process harm the protein in other brand's protein products?

A. Paleomeal and Whey Cool are superior to any other whey protein products on the market because of the processing method and the source of the milk. Filtration forces a separation of the molecules/compounds, which destroys some of the properties and changes the way our bodies absorb the nutrients. Also, heat applied in other processing methods damages the enzymes, vitamins, and immunoglobulins. The other major benefits to Whey Cool are it tastes delicious, is sourced from grass fed organic cows (hence whey more nutrients), and doesn't have any added sugar, flavors, chemicals, etc.

Why are Paleomeal and Whey Cool not "Certified" Organic?
Q. Why are Paleomeal and Whey Cool not "Certified" Organic?

A. To meet USDA Organic Certification comes down to cost and plant equipment. The production equipment for this very special whey protein is also used for dairy products that are not from the same milk supply. If separate equipment were purchased, it would raise the price of the final product tremendously.

Certification has no added benefit to the quality of this whey protein, which has all the advantages of "organic", and the animals are fresh pasture grass fed year-round. This is by far the best quality whey protein available.

What Whey Protein is recommended for 59 yo doing cardio and strenght workouts?
Q. I'm a 59 year old female and work-out at the gym (cardio and strength building). I was told to take Organic Whey Protein before and after workout. What do you recommend?

A. I personally use and recommend Whey Cool or Paleomeal by DFH which both are made from the same organic grade whey protein. The Whey Cool is the best value per container, yet if you have any sort of gastrointestinal problems, the Paleomeal contains additional gut and liver healing nutrients which many people love.

You can mix either into a smoothie once or twice daily. I sometimes make them very simple with just water, and other times make fun smoothies containing a number of additional add ins like Omega 3s, probiotics, and PaleoFiber. I figure you might as well power pack your smoothie and get as many nutrients as possible! See our Whey Protein Smoothie Recipes here which has links to the products I mentioned.

Some popular items added in by those who life weights and do cardio include: Carnitine Tartrate Powder, Creatine powder, and D-Ribose powder. You can read more about the benefits of each of these on the product pages.

If you have any specific health concerns or goals, I'd be glad to make specific recommendations on "add ins" for your smoothy.

What is the difference between Whey Cool and Paleomeal?

Q. What is the difference between Whey Cool and Paleomeal?

A. Thank you for you call and your interest in PaleoMeal and Whey Cool. To answer your questions, Whey Cool is a more concentrated whey protein product than the PaleoMeal by about 30% more protein per serving, but they do contain the same organic whey protein concentrate. The Whey Cool has only whey protein.

The PaleoMeal has extra ingredients so that it can be used as a meal replacer or nutritious snack by itself, where the Whey Cool is just protein that you can add to cereal or smoothies or other foods. The additional ingredients in the PaleoMeal consist of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, ground flax, glutamine, CLA, Phosphatidyl Choline and natural sweeteners like xylitol and natural flavors. The Ingredient Section in the above links give the whole nutritional breakdown.

In addition to Omega oils w/flax & evening primrose, what will aid weight loss?
Q. I want to lose weight. I have been taking a spoonful of Omega oils (flax and evening primrose) and I feel great. I also drink 32 oz. of water every morning. What else can I do? Should I cut carbs?

A. The bars are great before working out, and the Omega 3 oils are very important your metabolism and overall health.

I suggest you add in Carnitine Synergy by DFH and the Twice Daily Essentials Packets by DFH which contain a high quality multi, calcium, magnesium, and fish oils. This product is very easy to take each day, and it will ensure you are getting all your basic nutrients. In order to have successful weight loss, you need to give your body all the nutrients and co-factors it needs to burn fat and fuel energy. Providing your body with the basics is very important.

You are getting a good amount of exercise each week which is excellent, but I would highly recommend you do weights 3 times a week in addition to cardio 2-3x per week. You could do a workout consisting of both (i.e. 40 min weights, 30 min cardio). Working out on weights really makes a difference in your resting metabolism, and has a synergistic effect for fat burning when combined with cardio.

As for your diet, I recommend you follow a healthy low-carb program such as Living the Low Carb Life by Jonny Bowden, or Protein Power by Dr.Eades.

Or better yet, you may also want to do a phone consultation with us so we can customize an eating and supplement program for your needs. Let us know!

Which is best for fat & weight loss. Carnitine Synergy, Crave Arrest, or both?
Q. I was just looking at the Carnitine Synergy and was wondering should I try that in place of the Crave Arrest for fat and weight loss or stick with the Crave Arrest?

A. Crave Arrest and Carnitine Synergy have two different purposes. If you feel your weight loss efforts have been helped by reducing your cravings, then Crave Arrest is working well for you. If you don't feel you have food cravings, then perhaps you should in fact switch to Carnitine Synergy, which will optimize your body's fat burning potential. Carnitine does make a difference in your ability to burn fat as energy and many of my clients have found it helpful especially for improving energy during low carb diets. Without adequate Carnitine levels, fat cannot be burned.

Is it OK to combine Crave Arrest & Carnitine Synergy if taking Adrenotone?
Q. Would it be safe to take Crave Arrest and Carnitine Synergy at the same time; I also take Adrenotone?

A. Taking Crave Arrest and Carnitine Synergy together is perfectly safe. They work on different pathways... seratonin vs. mitochondria. There is also no contra-indication for taking Adrenotone along with Carnitine and Crave Arrest. They are all part of a healthy weight loss program. Supporting the adrenal glands is important too since weight loss puts a lot of stress on the body, not to mention that everyday stress further causes the adrenal glands to fatigue.

What's recommended for weight loss that would not interfere with my taking Abilify?
Q. What is the best nutrition supplement to help me lose weight which I can take without worrying about the medications I take for depression such as Abiify?

A. Here are a few products (with weblinks) which help improve the body's ability to burn fat, without interfering with your medication, Abilify:
  • L-Carnitine by DFH - 1/2 tsp L-carnitine, three times per day with meals helps the body burn fat more efficiently. When taken with meals, it will achieve a lower but more prolonged elevated plasma level, about 7-8 hours, supporting at first the metabolism of the fat ingested with meals and subsequently that of the fat released from the adipose tissue. Please see the "More Info" section when you click on this product to read more.
  • CLA by DFH - CLA seems to direct triglycerides away from storage and towards oxidation. Take one softgel a day with meals. This nutrient seems to really target abdominal fat.
  • PaleoFiber by DFH - this gentle fiber powder does help keep the bowels regular with easy movements, and it supports GI health with an additional benefit of probiotics. Research has found that increasing daily fiber is an easy, healthy way to support weight loss by increasing the feeling of fullness and better blood sugar regulation. Work up to 1 Tbsp on an empty stomach, 1-2 times a day. I recommend the powder rather than capsules because it is easier than taking a bunch of pills. Mix with water (& a little juice if you buy the unflavored). It also comes in a berry flavor. It is important to drink ample water when increasing fiber to help it move through the digestive tract.
You can certainly take all 3 products while you are trying to lose weight for maximum benefit. Also, we do provide customized nutritional consultations.

What's recommended for weight loss for a person with a slight case of Asthma?
Q. I need guidance with weight loss. I am Healthy and I'm not on any prescription medications or any other supplements. I have had a Heart Murmur when I was smaller about 2 years old and I have ASTHMA but it's not even noticeable. Sometimes I forget I even have it. Any recommendations based on that?

A. First, it is also helpful to add a meal replacement protein shake to your day instead of a meal. Ideally for breakfast so it boosts your metabolism for the day. This is a good way to get good nutrition and rev up your fat burning potential. We have a great package of protein smoothies for weight loss available on our website.

Here are a few products which can safely help improve the body's ability to burn fat:

When taken with meals, it will achieve a lower but more prolonged elevated plasma level, about 7-8 hours, supporting at first the metabolism of the fat ingested with meals and subsequently that of the fat released from the adipose tissue. • EndoTrim™ is a comprehensive endocrine balancing formula designed to promote optimal insulin, leptin and cortisol balance. This formula is for anyone wishing to improve body composition and lose weight.
  • Decrease body fat
  • Increase lean muscle
  • Balance cortisol
  • Glucose and insulin control
  • Optimize metabolism
  • Increase energy
  • Decrease food cravings
  • Decrease anxiety
I highly recommend this to assist in your metabolism function. Take two capsules twice daily, between meals, if possible. I do not see any ingredients which would be a problem with your asthma. In fact, it might help improve it even further with the green tea extract that is in this product.

We also have great protein bars for a snack or to eat to replenish your body after a workout, this is one of our favorites: PaleoBars

Remember, these products are all helpful for assisting the body in fat reduction and weight loss, however, the main key component is exercise. Do you do any physical activity at this time?

If not, try to start adding at least a brisk walk for 20-30 minutes everyday to help improve circulation. Next, work up to "burst training" for 15 minutes per day. Experts recommend 30 seconds of intense exercise followed by 1 minute of recovery. Do this 8-16 times depending on your level. You can read about burst training online. Here are some videos.

Diet is also key as well, focus on lowering refined carbs and increasing fruit and veggies and lean proteins like beans, wild fish, organic chicken, turkey and grass-fed lean beef, buffalo or lamb. Healthy fats such as fish oils, avocado, olive oil almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts (in small quantity) are also helpful for maintaining better weight loss over time.

If you suspect you have a sluggish thyroid, add in Thyroid Synergy - Often sluggish weight loss can be due to an underactive thyroid or the thyroid hormones not being properly utilized by the body. This product helps better regulate this process so the body can work more normally.

Will one course of U-Tract Supplement given 3-4 X daily clear up a UT infection?
Q. I purchased your U-Tract supplement for my daughter and the instructions say to give 3-4 times daily until condition clears. Should I continue to give her this for a few months or do you think this should clear up her problem with one treatment?

A. You can use the U-Tract supplement until her symptoms clear up. Urinary tract infection can be a sign of a weaker immune system, therefore I would suggest that you supplement her diet with a Multivitamin & Mineral with DHA formula such as the Child Formula by Pharmax.

She will also benefit from some probiotic such as the HLC High Potency Probiotic Powder by Pharmax and HLC Uritol by Pharmax.

I'm on antibiotic for UTI. Any suggestion for alleviating pain when urinating?
Q. I have gotten a UTI and am taking an antibiotic for this nasty urinary tract infection. Real pain when I urinate. I am really shocked that I got this and am eating right, exercising and I even lost 20 pounds since I spoke with you last! Any suggestions?

A. I would use HLC Uritol Intensive Plus to help with infection and prevention for the future. It is a combination of HLC probiotics which help to protect the urinary canal from bacterial infections, cranberry extract which helps to cleanse the urinary tract, and organic acid salts which neutralize acidity in the urine significantly reduces the stinging and burning reaction normally associated with the UTI.

I would also take HLC Intensive Probiotics for at least 10-20 days during the antibiotics and after, taking 1 cap with each meal to ensure the gut gets reconstituted with protective bacteria. Those antibiotics can do real damage to your urinary and gastrointestinal system and make it more likely that you'll get a re-infection.

To prevent future UTIs, I would use some daily fiber such as ground flax or PaleoFiber or Intestinal Purifier to keep the bowels nice and clean. This way the bacteria doesn't have time to move over into the urinary canal, closely located to the gut. Also use Cranberry juice (pure) daily—just a few sips- or a cranberry extract supplement, since this is proven to keep bacteria from adhering to the urinary walls, in essence, cleanses bacteria away!

Cranberry Forte is an awesome cranberry product which also has some adjunctive support nutrients.

What do suggest for eczema that is non-allergenic?
Q. My 15 month old daughter has eczema and multiple food allergies. Which supplements would be of benefit to her? She has been on a gluten/dairy/egg/nut free diet for nine months and is not getting better. Supplements she takes are Evening Primrose Oil and a probiotic.

A.
My clients have gotten much better results from using Fish Oils than Hemp or Evening of Primrose for eczema. Omega 3s are powerful natural anti-inflammatories. Assuming there are no medication contraindications or upcoming surgery, your daughter should take a relatively high dose, about a tsp daily for her age (1 Tbsp per day for adults).

Also, the probiotics we recommend are much more effective than most—even high quality ones—than others I have personally worked with or heard about. HLC Mindlinx (Take contents of 1 cap, once or twice daily mixed with food.) not only is sourced from humans versus cows or plants and therefor colonizes the gut more effectively. It also has special strains to break down gluten and casein. I understand she is on a GFCF diet, however this is still very helpful since chances are, part or all of the original cause of this eczema has to do with a deficiency of probiotics and food allergies helped by these specific strains.

Zinc may also be beneficial, as well as L-glutamine, this is an amino acid needed for gut repair and immune health. Take 1/8 tsp. 2-3 times daily.

Zinc Challenge—this is a liquid zinc in a very absorbable form, for those with digestive troubles. Since zinc is needed for gut repair, and since it is hard to absorb if gut is not in health, it is good if she start with this form. Use 1/2 tsp twice daily.

  • HLC Probiotics— These are human grade probiotics, and will help restore better intestinal health. If she was not breast-fed, or for long, she is deficient in these. Give her 1 capsule, twice daily mixed in with fluids or food.
  • HLC Intensive caps—This is a pure and healthy source of omega-3s important to reverse inflammation and nourish the skin.

Can you suggest a natural product for cysts and acne as topicals don't help me?
Q. I would like to find a natural product that will get rid of the cysts and other acne. I have had no success with topical treatments.

A. Research studies have proven that acne can be cured by 1) lowering glycemic load in diet 2) eliminating dairy (& sometimes gluten too) and 3) taking supplements which help balance insulin/sugar load and support skin health. In addition to following a low glycemic diet and eleminating dairy, you should also add these supplements. You will notice results as quickly as within 1 week!
  • Zinc Supreme by DFH.Take 1-2 per day at separate times with food. Zinc is critical for skin health and healing, if you are deficient in this critical mineral, your body would spare it for other more essential functions - such as immunity- and your skin will suffer.
  • Omega Synergy by DFH. Take 3 twice daily with meals. This combination of Omega 3 & 6 are essential fatty acids which are critical in production of your skin hormones. Often skin issues are a direct result of a deficiency of this key nutrient. GLA is also critical in hormonal health, and if you are slightly or severly deficient, your body will use it to help produce hormones first, and therefor your skin will sufffer.
  • Probiotic Synergy by DFH. Take 1 after each meal three times daily. This beneficial bacteria will strengthen your digestive & elimination system to effectively clear acne and/or cyst issues. Acne can in part be caused by poor digestion and or/systemic yeast/ candida albicans, and probiotics will help re-establish the correct balance.
I highly recommend this great downloadable e-book on Dietary Cures for Acne by Loren Cordain, PhD.

Can you recommend a non-steroidal product for Schamberg's (Cappillaritis)?
Q. I have suffered with Schamberg's skin condition (aka capillaritis) for 1 1/2 years and have been told there is no cause or remedy. Prednisone helped temporarily but then it came back. What do you recommend?

A. Since the skin and gut are considered sister organs, I suggest working on repairing your gut. There is a possibility that bacteria/yeast in your gut is responsible for the skin condition. Also, since anti-inflammatory medications have helped, I suggest using some anti-inflammatory nutrients/herbs. Below I will outline a protocol to help.

HLC Intensive by Pharmax. This is a probiotic used to help control bacterial/fungal overgrowth. Take 1 cap with each meal for 20-30 days.

Alli-Cinn by Pharmax. This is a combination of garlic and cinnamon bark oil which will kill bad bacteria and fungus in your gut. Take 1 cap once-twice daily with food.

Finest Pure Fish Oils by Pharmax. This is a pure potent form of omega-3 fish oils which are the body's natural precursor to anti-inflammatory hormones.

PaleoGreens by DFH. This is a super greens supplement which will help with gentle detoxification and gut strengthening.

I also recommend reduction of all forms of sugar, as well as gluten and dairy. These foods are inflammation provoking and feed bad bacteria and yeast.
