Best Product for Excess Cortisol Production

Q.
Can you recommend a product that helps reduce excess cortisol production?

A.
If you have excess cortisol production, I have two recommendations.

AdrenoHS-SOD by BioGenesis. Please be aware this product has 20mg of lithium in it. Lithium is often prescribed by physicians for depressive disorders, headaches, and hyperthyroidism in higher amounts. But this is a low amount, it is not the same level as used in medications, however, there can be some interactions with some medications. If you are on any medications, please let me reference the medications you are on to make sure there would be no negative interactions you should be aware of when taking this product.

Catecholecalm by DFH. This helps balance cortisol and balance catechholemines, and is lithium free.

Women's hair loss, hormones and adrenal health
Q. I have a problem with my hair growth. My hair is getting thinner and has started to be bald in certain areas. I went to my doctor who said that my hormones related to the ability to grow hair is very low and suggested adrenotone. I would like to know if the Adrenotone Plus you offer can meet my needs?

A. Adrenotone Plus is helpful for improving adrenal hormone levels, as hair loss can be a result of low adrenal hormones. If your doctor diagnosed you with adrenal exhaustion and you have severe fatigue, Adrenal Complex can be added to your program for 3-4 months if you are tolerating the Adrenotone Plus well. You can take these products together for a stronger therapeutic dose. And if your DHEA hormone levels are on the low side, you may want to add this hormone in as well. This is a good one to start with: DHEA 5 mg.

Can you recommend a program/products to help me recover from adrenal/chronic fatigue?
Q. Can you recommend a program/products to help me recover from adrenal/chronic fatigue?

A. Here is a basic program for adrenal health and chronic fatigue:
It includes one herbal/nutrient blend (GSF Adrenal), 2 B-vitamin supplements, omega-3s (Super EFA Liquid Plus), and one homeopathic (Ribes Nigrum) which is highly effective at nourishing the adrenals. Also included are dietary and lifestyle recommendations, which work hand in hand with these nutrients, herbs, and homeopathic remedies.

GSF Adrenatex – 2 caps twice daily with meals
Ribes Nigrum – ½ tsp 3 times a day anytime
Pantothenic Acid – 1 capsule twice daily with meals
Liquid B Complex – 1 tsp twice daily (take with Pantothenic acid) with meals
Super EFA Liquid Plus – 1 tsp daily with meals

Causes of Adrenal Fatigue
Chronic stress and a poor diet are commonly the culprits. The combination of work and family pressure, illness, sleep deprivation, psychological and emotional issues, having children, moving, excessive exercise, death in the family, changing jobs, and marital disharmony can all contribute to chronic stress which weaken the adrenal glands. In addition, a poor diet including sugar, caffeine, and refined foods further weaken the adrenal glands. Fatigue occurs when the amount of stress overextends the capacity of the body to compensate and recover.

Lifestyle Recommendations
  • Avoid stress and extra obligations.
  • Get regular exercise such as walking, yoga, tai chi, and pilates.
  • Avoid corticosteroids and NSAIDS (if possible).
  • Resolve emotional issues.
Dietary Recommendations
  • Avoid wheat flour and dairy products.
  • Avoid sugar and hydrogenated oils.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption and caffeine.
  • Avoid refined and processed foods.
  • Avoid refined oils such as safflower, sunflower, corn and soybean oil.
  • Eat omega 3 anti-inflammatory foods such as salmon, mackerel and tuna.
  • Consume green drinks or fresh vegetable juices.
  • Helpful teas: chamomile, green tea, slippery elm.

What products do you recommend for Adrenal Recovery?
Q. What products do you recommend for Adrenal Recovery?

A. For adrenal fatigue/exhaustion, we have a great selection of products that will aid in your recovery.
  1. Tyrosine Powder, by DFH: (Take ¼ tsp twice daily between meals on an empty stomach to support dopamine/norepinephr ine production, relieve adrenal glands.)
  2. Zinc Challenge, by DFH: (Take this to aid in balancing copper levels and supporting your immune system. Follow instructions based on how powerfully you taste the supplement. Many people prefer not to take zinc on an empty stomach. It occasionally causes nausea, if taken on empty stomach.)
  3. Adrenotone, by DFH: For adrenal fatigue/exhaustion, we have a great selection of products that will aid in your recovery.
  4. Buffered Vitamin C Powder, by DFH: (Take 1tsp twice daily between meals to provide your body with anti-oxidant C and relaxing magnesium)
  5. Finest Pure Fish Oils, by Pharmax: (1 TBS., once or twice daily with meals, to provide anti-inflammatory omega-3's.)
  6. DHEA, by DFH: (Take 1 capsule, twice per day, between meals to reduce cortisol production.)

Also, not to be under-emphasized is the importance of good nutrition, rest, and relaxing exercise such as yoga or pilates. Best not to do strenuous exercise, as tempting as it may be. This will cause a secretion of adrenal hormones, which will continue to deplete your adrenal glands. Be sure to reduce sugar, alcohol, caffeine, all stimulants, and processed foods, even though you may have cravings.

Try teas such as green tea, chamomile, and licorice, all which support your adrenal glands/ relaxation of the nervous system. Support your blood sugar balance with healthy meats and fats as well as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains such as brown rice and sweet potatoes. Wheat and dairy are not recommended.
