Help For Malassezia (Pityrosporum) folliculitis (PF)?
Q. I just found Fungisode from Genestra, and Cicatrisane Cream by Unda Seroyal on your site. Can you find out if that would work for pityrosporum folliculitis (PF)? I can't seem to find what type of yeast PF is.

A. Pityrosporum folliculitis (PF) aka Malassezia Folliculitis is a common benign disorder in young or middle-aged adults that involves follicular papules and pustules localized predominantly on the back and chest. As the name suggests, Malassezia folliculitis is caused by the invasion of the hair follicle by Malassezia yeasts. Although Malassezia yeasts are a part of the normal human microflora, under certain conditions they can cause superficial dermatological conditions. The invasion results in the development of erythematous papules, and sometimes pustules, which may be either asymptomatic or itchy. Usually Malassezia yeasts are present along with staphylococci and propionibacteria in the follicles.

Fungisode may be helpful, as it is a wide-spectrum antifungal, though it does not contain the Malassezia yeast. Fungisode can still influence an immune response by the body to fungus, so it can a helpful internal treatment to try, in addition to the Cicatrisane Cream.

Do keep in mind that the skin is the last organ of detoxification. Many chronic skin conditions can develop when there is a toxic load going on internally, usually the liver and/or kidneys are overloaded with toxins, so the skin is trying to purge out things the body doesn't need. If these products do not correct your problem, then the next step would be to look at supporting the liver and kidney's detox pathways.

Natural Treatment for Vaginal Dryness and Hormonal Balance

Q.
What natural cream for vaginal dryness do you recommend for post menopausal vaginal dryness? Do you offer anything that wouldn't burn?

A. Are you in your menopausal years? If so, you might want to give this product a try to help with hormonal balance, as vaginal dryness often occurs as the menopausal years come to pass:

Isogen Forte Cream by Genestra - this combines high concentrations of soy isoflavones and wild yam extracts specifically developed to assist with progesterone and estrogen balance. Isogen Forte Cream is indicated for premenstrual and menopausal symptoms, including irritability, fatigue, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, depression, weight gain and edema, and is recommended for osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and postpartum depression. Isogen Forte Cream can be used everyday for the entire menstrual cycle instead of using specific products to offset hormone dominance.
  • Massage Isogen Forte Cream into soft tissue areas, such as breasts, under arms, inner arms or thighs, wrist area or abdomen. Apply to a new area each day on a four day rotation to avoid saturation of fat cells.

    Contraindications
    Estrogen-sensitive cancers due to isoflavones.

Other directly helpful products are these:

Vitamin E Suppositories by WWH - Vitamin E (natural D-alpha tocopherol) (318 iu in each suppository) in a cocoa butter base. Use these vaginally at night at bedtime for best results.

If you are menopausal, these can be used topically,

Personal Lubricant with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E - natural personal lubricant for vaginal dryness due to Menopause or other vaginal irritations. Or if you are younger try this:

Help for hand and/or foot fungus
Q. Can you please let me know if there are any Unda numbers that may help with hand/foot fungus?

A. You might want to start with Unda 270 Ointment topically. This ointment is for all skin conditions.

UNDA 270 Ointment contains two primary and powerful botanical herbs, Hypericum perforatum and Equisetum arvense, combined specifically to help relieve skin conditions by increasing elimination through the kidneys. The skin discharges impurities through the kidneys and through perspiration, purifying itself of the poisonous waste collected from the cells. Research has shown that due to its penetrating anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiseptic actions, Hypericum perforatum has an affinity for skin injuries caused by bruises, varicose veins and first-degree burns. Complementary to this, the high silica content found in Equisetum arvense makes it an excellent adjunct for the enhancement of wound healing. Unda 270 Ointment is indicated for all skin conditions such as dry eczema, psoriasis, wounds, chapped hands and diaper rash.

Apply a small amount on the affected area two to three times daily. You may cover affected area with sterile gauze after each application.

You may need to improve the elimination of yeasts/fungus and waste inside your body if the cream isn't enough to improve you skin fungus. I would recommend purchasing a Nutrition Consult to best determine what Unda's and other supplements to start with to improve your situation.

What natural product is recommended for Cystic Acne if pregnant?
Q. I was on antibiotics for years and nothing helped. What supplements do you recommend for cystic acne? I am 5 months pregnant.

A. Zinc picolinate, HMF Forte, and Multi EFA will all help you greatly, but you'll need to take them for at least 3 months to see results. This is because these supplements work gently to correct the underlying nutrient deficiencies and hormone imbalance which can cause skin problems.

You can find the list of the recommended products for acne HERE.

In addition, since you have taken antibiotics for so long, they have destroyed your beneficial flora in your body (digestive system and vaginal canal), which further create yeast issues and skin problems.

To speed up her recovery from the antibiotic side effects, you need to take probiotics such as HMF Powder (more economical) or HMF Forte capsules diligently for the next 4 months at double the normal dose.

Probiotics are also extremely beneficial during pregnancy and lactation since the mother’s beneficial bacteria will improve the baby’s immune system and chances of allergies, asthma, and skin problems.

With cystic acne, it is important that you focus on your diet, since unbalanced hormones are most likely one of the main cause, and diet can greatly influence your hormones.

I recommend you focus on balancing your blood sugar, which will help regulate your insulin secretion; in turn will help your cystic acne. In order to balance your blood sugar, you should avoid all processed and refined foods (any food product sold with a bar code including junk food, sweets, breads, pasta), and focus on whole foods such as quality proteins (organic chicken, turkey, fish, lean meat), and a variety of vegetables, salads, nuts, seeds, and fruit.

You can find the list of the recommended products for acne HERE.

I am looking for products to help clear acne on my chest & back. What do you suggest?
Q. I am looking for products to help clear acne on my chest & back. What do you suggest?

A. Skin conditions such as acne arise when there is something wrong on the inside, and Zinc, probiotics, and Omega 3s are very important for skin health since they address the deficiencies and imbalances which often lead to skin problems. These 3 supplements plus the PhytoGreens could make quite a big difference.
  1. Zinc Picolinate by Genestra: Take 1 capsule 3 times daily with mealsLow zinc levels commonly lead to acne and research has shown that supplementation in the range of 50-90mg per day over 2-3 months can cause significant improvement. Zinc also helps regulate hormone production. Teenage boys are well known to have extremely low zinc levels during puberty, and many adults are quite low as well since zinc is not found in many foods and depleted quickly with stress.
  2. HMF Forte probiotics (capsule or powder form as HMF Powder): Probiotics such as HMF Forte are critical for health of the intestines. Low levels of beneficial flora lead to Dysbiosis, yeast, and poor digestion which all contribute significantly to acne and skin problems. Ironically, antibiotics and medications given to people with acne kills off the good bacteria in the intestines which then leads to more acne. Taking probiotics daily is critical for anyone with skin problems.
  3. Multi EFA caps: Take 2 caps twice daily with meals Omega 3s such as Multi EFA caps help reduce inflammation which causes acne. It also nourishes and softens the skin. Omega 3s are very deficient in our diet.
  4. Dietary modification—research shows that women in particular highly benefit from removing or significantly reducing dairy consumption in their diet. Dairy products such as milk and cheese can sometimes be the cause of acne, especially in adults. Other common food sensitivities which can lead to skin conditions is wheat (any product made with white or wheat flour such as cookies, crackers, bread, pasta, cereal).

Do you have a product for painfully dry cracked hand and feet skin?
Q. I have a painful skin condition, in which my skin cracks and bleeds (hands and feet). Do you have any suggestions to remedy this?

A. First and foremost for your cracking hands and feet, you will see dramatic improvement by taking high dose fish oils. My mother and grandmother had a skin condition nearly identical to yours and nothing really helped until they used high dose fish oils plus GLA. The dose and quality of the oil is important.

Here are the products I recommend as well as the doses:
  1. Super EFA Liquid by Genestra—Take 1 Tablespoon twice per day with meals for 1 week, then down to 1 Tablespoon per day for 2-4 weeks or until symptoms improve dramatically.

Maintenance dose for your condition is 1-2 teaspoons per day. You can mix it into applesauce or yogurt, or just take it straight off the spoon and chase it down with any beverage (which is what my husband and I do)
  2. GLA 90 Black Currant Seed Oil— 3 capsules per day (i.e. 1 with each meal) for 1-2 months until symptoms subside, then down to 1 capsule a day for maintenance.
EFAs are critical for skin health and many other health problems, so typically many health parameters improve when our clients go on these essential fatty acids which are greatly lacking in our diet.

How long should I continue Lymphagen Cream as it is helping my boils?
Q. Should I use Lymphagen cream for boils? I get them on my back sometimes. I've used it for 2 days and it has made them less painful.

A. Lymphagen Cream may be helpful for boils by helping increase cellular detoxification. Glad to hear you’re already having some results. I highly recommend you take a look at our skin health program which has been quite successful at reducing the occurrence of boils (as well as acne).

These supplements which include probiotics, omega 3 fatty acids, and zinc, addresses cause of boils which is an internal one stemming from inadequate balance of nutrients and fats, and toxicity within the cells including the gastro intestinal tract.

I recommend you follow this “Skin Health -acne” program since it is designed for boils as well.

What Genestra products are good for eczema and dermatitis?
Q. What Genestra products are good for eczema and dermatitis?

A. One of the most effective treatments for eczema is to take Super EFA Plus. You will want to begin with at least 1 Tbsp. and move to 2 Tbsp.(in split doses) daily within a week or two.

Also, eczema is related to food intolerances so it is important for you to control for good GI health. You can take HMF probiotics and also highly consider eliminating dairy (casein) and wheat (gluten).

HMF Intensive by Genestra: Take 1 capsule with each meal.

Or HMF Neuro since it helps break down gluten and casein.

My 8 mo baby has Eczema and nothing topical is working. Please help!
Q. My 8-month-old baby has Eczema and I have tried everything topical: Shea Butter, Calendula Lotion & Ointment, Garderners Dream Cream, Prevex, Hydrocortisone Cream. Nothing is working. Please help!

A. Did you start your baby on formula or begin including dairy, wheat or soy in her diet? These particular foods are often responsible for eczema. If you have not already, remove all of these foods—dairy, gluten (found in wheat, oats, rye, barley, etc.), and soy. Stick with just vegetables, fruits, and basic meat like chicken, beef (if introduced already), and fats. If breastfeeding, continue and remove those allergenic foods from your diet. If on formula, switch to something free of the allergens. Additionally, begin probiotics and fish oils immediately (for you and your baby).
  • HMF Probiotics — These are human grade probiotics, and will help restore better intestinal health. If she was not breast-fed, or for long, she is deficient in these. Give her 1 capsule, twice daily mixed in with fluids or food.
  • Super EFA liquid — This is a pure and healthy source of omega-3s important to reverse inflammation and nourish the skin. Give 1/2 tsp daily.
Also reduce any and all sugars, from juice, rice etc. If she has yeast, this will antagonize the problem. Try introducing avocado, coconut oil and organic butter to cook veggies to add more calories. Babies need more fats than carbohydrates at this time. You can use sweet potato, squash, brown rice, broccoli, asparagus, as well as pureed chicken brown rice soup with carrots, turkey and avocado, brown rice pasta with meat, apples stewed in butter or coconut oil, etc.

Can you suggest any product that would be effective in treating rosacea?
Q. Can you suggest any product that would be effective in treating rosacea?

A. Rosacea is best treated with healing the intestinal tract. I have dealt with is myself for years. Traditional doctors usually start patients out on tetracycline to kill negative bacteria in the intestinal tract, this usually improves rosacea in the short term but can cause other problems, such as yeast overgrowth.

These are some products (with links) I would recommend you try instead if you would like to try a more natural way to improve it:
  • Allisyn Garlic by Genestra (USA / CANADA) - Take one capsule two times daily with meals for 3 weeks then break - this will help kill the negative bacteria in the intestinal tract
  • HMF Intensive by Genestra (USA / CANADA) - Take one capsule two times daily with meals for 6 weeks, you'll need 3 boxes. this will help repopulate the gut with good bacteria. This is important for good gut health, and these are excellent quality probiotics.
  • HMF Forte (USA / CANADA) - you could switch to this after taking the HMF Intensive for 6 weeks. This is a maintenance product you can use to keep the intestinal tract well colonized. Take 1-2 caps daily with meals.
  • Digest Plus (USA / CANADA) - helps with digestion. People who develop roseaca often have poor digestion, which can be improved with this digestive supplement. This will help improve your assimilation of food and nutrients.
  • Liquid B Complex (USA / CANADA) - additional B vitamins are also helpful in improving this condition. I would recommend taking this for a while, at least until you get the rosacea under control.
I also recommend using non-irritating facial washes and creams. This Calendula Cream
(USA / CANADA) may be helpful to use topically.

Can you recommend a non-steroidal product for Schamberg's (Cappillaritis)?
Q. I have suffered with Schamberg's skin condition (aka capillaritis) for 1 1/2 years and have been told there is no cause or remedy. Prednisone helped temporarily but then it came back. What do you recommend?

A. Since the skin and gut are considered sister organs, I suggest working on repairing your gut. There is a possibility that bacteria/yeast in your gut is responsible for the skin condition. Also, since anti-inflammatory medications have helped, I suggest using some anti-inflammatory nutrients/herbs. Below I will outline a protocol to help.

HLC Intensive by Pharmax. This is a probiotic used to help control bacterial/fungal overgrowth. Take 1 cap with each meal for 20-30 days.

Alli-Cinn by Pharmax. This is a combination of garlic and cinnamon bark oil which will kill bad bacteria and fungus in your gut. Take 1 cap once-twice daily with food.

Finest Pure Fish Oils by Pharmax. This is a pure potent form of omega-3 fish oils which are the body's natural precursor to anti-inflammatory hormones.

PaleoGreens by DFH. This is a super greens supplement which will help with gentle detoxification and gut strengthening.

I also recommend reduction of all forms of sugar, as well as gluten and dairy. These foods are inflammation provoking and feed bad bacteria and yeast.

Suggested lotion for toddler with itchy skin? Eucerin or Aquaphor do not help.
Q. My 2 year old has extremely dry patches all over, especially on his behind. He scratches so hard he draws blood. If I see him I always stop him, but he usually scratches in his sleep. I keep his fingernails clipped for the scratching part. I've tried Eucerin, Aquaphor, and various other lotions. Any suggestions on lotions etc to help with his uncomfortable itching. Thanks so much!

A. Ninety-five percent of kids and adults with extremely dry skin patches and eczema improve dramatically or have complete reversal in symptoms by targeting the root of the problem: Food allergies and/or Omega 3 fatty acid deficiency. Have you ever given your boy a good quality Cod Liver Oil? Infants and kids needs a LOT of healthy fats.

A 2 year old should be consuming at least 6 tablespoons of healthy fats daily including Cod Liver Oil. You can mix it into their food and they don't even know it's there. The good quality Cod Oil does not taste fishy (just oily). Pharmax is a great brand and their Finest Pure Cod Liver Oil is excellent. Coconut Oil is also fabulous for kids and skin health.

Here are some detailed recommendations from my site on essential healthy fats and how important they are for everything from brain health to immune system and the skin.

You will be blown away at the dramatic effect adding good oils to his diet can be for his skin. Your little body is just starving for them.

Removing foods he is sensitive to (i.e. pasteurized cow milk products) could also cause a huge improvement. Most Eczema is caused by or made worse by dairy. For over 10 years I have seen complete reversal by just removing foods causing the skin inflammation.

In summary, rubbing lotions on his skin or taking toxic medications will never really fix the problem until you correct the underlying cause of the severely dry skin patches. His skin symptom is a sign that something is wrong. I urge you to fix the problem from the inside out!
