HLC Neonate is a unique combination of four strains of proprietary human-sourced probiotics that promotes intestinal health in young children.
Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria are the most commonly used probiotics, and they effectively colonize the intestines. The human intestinal tract contains more than 400 bacterial species, and a healthy bacterial balance is necessary for a healthy gastrointestinal tract. Probiotics promote the presence of beneficial bacteria, and strengthen the epithelial barrier.
Pharmax and GENESTRA BRANDS™ are probiotic science and innovation leaders, with over 20+ years of proven experience and an ongoing commitment to incorporate the safest and most effective strains that reflect the latest evidence-based research from human trials. Their probiotics are human-sourced strains, proven in human clinical trials and cover a comprehensive product range.

HLC Neonate 6 g
Infant Probiotic Supplement
Supplement Facts Serving Size 100 mg Serving per Container 60
Amount per serving HLC Consortium (3 billion viable cells) of : Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL-60); L. acidophilus (CUL-21); L. paracasei (CUL-08); Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (CUL-62).
Other ingredients: Lactose monohydrate (milk)
In a base of lactose similar to breast milk for maximum assimilation. The lactose base is derived from cow's milk. The lactose base has had the casein and whey proteins removed (as per Seroyal/Pharmax), but for babies who have an extreme dairy allergy, we don't recommend it. However, babies who are just slightly sensitive to dairy usually do fine with this infant probiotic.
Recommended Intake: Bottle Fed Babies: Mix apx 1/16 tsp into baby bottle (half of 1/8 tsp) once or twice a day. Breast Fed Babies: Press clean finger into powder and have baby suckle finger. Or use a tiny plastic spoon (i.e. used at the ice cream/gelato store for flavor tasting). These fit perfectly into the Neonate bottle and then into their tiny mouth, and easily smears onto their tongue. Then follow it with a little breast milk, or let them mash it around their mouth with saliva. They may not even notice they have that tiny bit of powder in their mouth (it tastes slightly sweet). Approximately 33 mg (1 billion viable cells) will naturally adhere to the end of your finger (rough dosage idea). Repeat three times daily.
Children (1-4 years): In a glass add water or milk to one scoop of HLC Neonate and mix. Take once daily with a meal, at least two to three hours before or after taking antibiotics, or as recommended by your healthcare practitioner.
Is this product safe for Infants age 0-12 months? YES. Although the product label now indicates that it is for children age 1- 4, it is actually formulated for infants 0-12 months. This is due to regulations by Health Canada (where the product is made and sold) which does not allow age range below 12 months to be listed on supplements (even if proven safe).
Storage: Keep refrigerated or in freezer when possible, yet survives at room temperature for up to 1 month.
This product does not contain: wheat, gluten, soy, corn, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Ideal for vegetarians.
Caution: If your child has an immune compromised condition, consult your healthcare practitioner. If they are experiencing nausea, fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhea or sever abdominal pain, consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use. If symptoms of digestive upset occur, worsen or persist beyond three days, discontinue use and consult your healthcare practitioner.
Safety-sealed for your protection and for product freshness. Do not use if outer seal is missing or broken. Store under refrigeration (below 46 °F).
CLINICALLY PROVEN STRAINS Human Lactic Commensals (HLC) probiotic strains are research-driven and clinically proven in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trials at 25 billion CFU per day. Proprietary non-pathogenic human-sourced microflora bacterial strains are utilized as they have strong epithelial adherence and a naturally high tolerance to stomach acid.
Are HLC products shipped with an ice pack? Not from October - May. Pharmax's freeze drying technology meets 100% label claims when shipped with ice or no ice during temps less than 90 degree's F. The manufacturer states that it is not necessary to ship the HLC products with an ice pack for these reasons:
Pharmax has added in 40% more probiotic than what the label guarantees per bottle. For example, HLC Intensive is guaranteed to have 25 billion CFU per serving, but there are 35 billion present at time of manufacturing and it is kept frozen until shipping.
You will receive your HMF probiotic directly from the distributor in about 2-3 days UPS Ground. This product is very fresh and has not been sitting around on our shelves.
How do I travel with my HLC probiotics? We highly recommend you take your probiotics with you on all trips and vacations since their potency will last for up to 1 months at room temperature. But, when possible and if convenient, we recommend you store your probiotics in the freezer or refrigerator, especially if you plan to preserve freshness of your product for months or years.
Where are the bacterial strains derived from? Using laboratory procedures many years ago, hundreds of different bacterial strains were isolated from a healthy human intestinal wall sample. They were separated out, and each one was reproduced to make huge batches for testing via scientific trials. (Lab procedures only require one cell sample to reproduce large quantities for testing and production over the years). Research indicated that these four of the hundreds of available cultures were the most beneficial strains with health promoting properties. These were the ones which held up strong during 15 years of testing, thus they were used as the probiotic strains in all the HMF products. These human strains are far superior to dairy or animal strains since the body recognizes these probiotics as "self" and allows better implantation. Read more about them here.

This product was recommended by my son's dr. She's an amazing dr and defaults to a more holistic approach. She suggested this product. It is very difficult to find in my area so when i found it on Rockwell's site for a fair price i was ecstatic. It came right on time and was packed appropriately for the weather (I ordered the heat packing fyi). Will purchase from these guys again for sure.
Love the probiotic

i started this when my daughter was 3 weeks old. She was born 5 weeks early. I started using this to support her digestion and i can tell a difference on the days when we use it and the days we don't. I found the best way to give it to her, as she is exclusively breast fed, is to put the serving into a spoon and hand express enough milk to make it liquid. Then you can spoon feed her the small amount with no problem!

They haven't exactly helped him at all but I feel good about giving them. Shipping was fast (even the cheap shipping). The item was shipped with a nice cold pack that to keep cool. I like this product but a liquid probiotic would be much easier to administer to a baby. The teeny tiny spoon is good however it is difficult to maneuver it out of the bottle with the correct measurement. The only other thing that I would say is that the bottle was only half full.

I have been giving this to my toddler since she was a newborn. I was unable to breastfeed except for a few weeks. I have this to her in her formula often. When she gets shots, I start her on it 7 days before and continue for 10 days after to keep her immune system functioning well.

Like most reviews stated, the bottle's design makes it difficult to get the powder out. I wouldn't want to keep using it for a long period of time because of that. It would be so much nicer to be able to put a measuring spoon IN the bottle rather than trying to fill a measuring spoon with the teeny tiny spoon that the bottle comes with. I also found the price is very expensive compared to the amount you get. I cannot say how it worked as we gave it to my 6 month old son as part of his homemade formula. He wasn't having any problems we just didn't want to give him commercial formula. It may be a good product but if one can't afford it, what good is it? We have had to find an alternative for this reason.

I saw a naturopathic midwife who recommended neonate. We had already switched her to hypoallergenic formula (which was VERY helpful as we could not pinpoint what I was eating and what she wasn't tolerating in my breast milk) but the neonate helped the digestion and gave her relief. Two thumbs up for neonate... it is so reasonably priced for what it is that it is worth a try. It takes about 2 weeks to see results, but it is worth it!

Our 5-month-old son's sleep specialist suggested this product. I believe it helped. We still give it to him daily. As others have noted, it's hard to administer the appropriate dose. I breastfeed and give him formula because of my low milk supply, and it's easy to add to pumped milk, but hard to measure because of the size/shape of the container.
